I've been to 14K several times and always meet my one particular friend (who rides into DC on the metro) here for dinner. This was a Tuesday night and they had entertainment, which was very loud. Had I known there was entertainment, I would have made a reservation else where. Otherwise, the service is always excellent and the food always good.
Dropped the ball on every level.
Unprofessional hostess on multiple occasions. She was not pleasant greeting us then proceeded to appear unprofessional all day. An actual incident occurred with another guest - rather than handling it and picking up where she left off, she proceeded to talk about it and make it an issue after it passed. Handle the issues and keep it professional. No one else needs to know what you just had to deal with.
The food selection was questionable - no home fries, potatoes, bacon for brunch? It was themed for easter, so maybe a pass on that. It’s a stretch but...I guess. Waffles - - with no butter, no syrup, no toppings? Hmm. If it was the bare minimum I’d just go with it but nothing? Come on now.
Cold food. The food wasn’t readily replenished, either, so it’s not like I could just wait a few. Speaking of wait - waiting for an omelet is like standing in the kitchen. No organization and people cramped everywhere. Clearly it was an afterthought.
Omelet - the only made to order item - was fantastic! The mimosa bar was fantastic!
Service was abysmal...I understand we’re at a buffet type brunch but someone has to be on hand to discard dishes, provide fresh silverware, and provide drinks. ...right?
Hmm. I’m thinking get it together. There are so many options in DC, I wouldn’t come here for just an omelet and a mimosa so you’ve got work to do.
14K did a very nice job with Easter brunch. Raw bar, green salad, fruit salad, a variety of meat stations, sides, bread, soup, desserts. Everything was very good. Choice of champagne cocktails or bloody mary added to a very nice display.
But, there were a some things that detracted from the experience. After we were shown our table, we sat there for at least 10 minutes before a manager came over and told us to go ahead and start serving ourselves. No waiter came over to offer us coffee, water, etc.
When getting food from the buffet, there were not enough serving utensils for the dishes. No spoons for the soup. No spoons on the tables or brought to us when we ordered coffee. I noticed a lot of the wait staff running around, not really sure of what they were supposed to do.
This is not the first time 14K has done this sort of thing. Why so disjointed? It became obvious there was a lack of management on the floor making sure things were running smoothly.
Valet parking was a great deal at $9. Would love to see them tighten things up a bit to rate a five star experience.
Excellence in all areas. Thank you. Staff attentive in a very careful manner.
Got a last minute table for a business meeting that required some quiet and privacy. They quickly confirmed my reservation and seated my colleagues and I well away from the rest of the diners. The restaurant is not particularly quiet, but this helped a great deal and I am truly appreciative. I had the crabcake caesar salad, which was very nice. A vegetarian dining with us was a bit disappointed that all the interesting salads had meat on them.
I work close to 14K and it's a go-to place for a nice sit down lunch. I had five family members from out of town visiting and we met up at 14K for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service is always friendly, but not overly friendly and we were able to hear and speak to one another without shouting (always a big plus)!
Great Breakfast , service was fast. Management introduced themselves and the waiter was working multiple tables and handle everything perfectly IMPRESSED. Will go back again.
Well, The menu online line and the one we we’re handed was different. I was a Friday during lent so we had already planed what we wanted which was not on the menu
Great location, the food didn’t wow me. The duck fat fries were not very good and I was disappointed that they were so greasy and droopy. The waitstaff was pleasant but not efficient.
A wonderful experience. Our waiter was charming and efficient. She recommended an excellent wine based on our request. The food was excellent.
We'll be back!
There should be an option to choose between reserving for dinner or in the lounge. We ended up having to ask our waiter in the dining room for happy hour menus because we were confused about where we’d been seated.
Great ambiance and location but you don't have a lot of food options and the food was bland.
Honestly we went there because it was so cold and windy it was the closest.
The food was ok. My ravioli with short ribs was greasy.
The service was fine.
Went here for New Year’s Eve dinner, great food and unlimited champagne bar which was awesome. Would definitely recommend to a friend
Wonderful experience! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Wholeheartedly recommend!
Searched hours for a place to meet family for lunch on Christmas Day. No easy feat.
Very few restaurants open and most hotels had Christmas buffets starting at $125.
Lucky to find this nice, cozy spot. The food was very good and the service was
Perfect. Would definitely meet there again, anytime!
I guess that I expected more in the food department. It was Christmas morning and we were trying to start a new tradition. The service was great, the place was nice and bright and clean. The food was mediocre at best and our food wasn't hot. Our server, Yeshialem, saved the day. She was great. One of our party's food was cold. She brought out some fruit in the interim so that she could eat something. She was friendly and accommodating. Thank goodness for Yeshialem!!
Our server was very nice and attentive. The pancakes and bacon were very good. The portions were generous. I would definitely recommend for brunch.
Thought it was The Hamilton!
I thought their food was pretty good. I ordered their salmon and a mango Moscow mule. The fish was very moist and and the drink was so good. I also ordered their eggs Benedict from their breakfast menu and that was also really good. I do think their breakfast menu pricing is a little high though.
Went for brunch and be warned,Sunday brunch is tapas. If you are not a fan of fish, only vegetable soup or steak and eggs available.
If you want a good hearty breakfast, not the place on a Sunday. We were one of the 2 tables that were occupied, still slow service. The champagne cocktails were fun,but the seating time is limited to 2 hours and the slow service limits the number of these.
I would like to try this restaurant for lunch/dinner rather.
Not a very friendly bartender either, she looked irritated at working a Sunday
Resaurant could not find my reservation although I had it confirmed thru open table
Great service. Food was delivered to the table quickly. Food was delicious. I will definitely return. It has restored my expectations in hotel restaurants, 14k definitely raises the bar. If you are staying at the Hamilton, no need to look any further, great food is in the building.
Thanksgiving dinner. The service was excellent and the food was flavorful!
Nice restaurant attached to The Hamilton Hotel. Nice foid and drink selection. Very peaceful.
We enjoyed a Thanksgiving buffet wth crab legs shrimp turkey prime rib. Everything was delicious.
Thank you 14k!
This one surprised me. We were looking for a cheaper restaurant in the DC area and the menu looked good. Being in a hotel, we had our doubts but decided to try it. I had the lamb and my wife had the veal. They were outstanding. Wine list also was inexpensive and limited but was able to fine a decent wine on there. I would definitely go back on my next visit to DC.
The service was excellent never had to wait for water refill, our waiter was very attentive, and the food was excellent
The 14K burger was very good.
Our out-of-town party of 3 enjoyed our evening immensely. We were looking for a quiet place to actually talk and 14K delivered. The food and presentation was excellent as was our waiter Tony. Great pick!
I loved the meal and the service. I highly recommend them.
I was highly disappointed that due to not being aware that your restaurant did not participate the full week of restaurant week as most restaurants, my party of four decided not to leave due to the lack of accommodations.
Despite being empty, service was incredibly slow. The food was good but came late if it came at all.
Restaurant week outing
Went for restaurant week, the food wasn’t that great.
Excellent! Loved this place! Can't wait to visit for brunch.
We came here during Restaurant Week (summer) for lunch. The menu options were good, especially dessert (my skillet cookie & ice cream was so delicious and my judge's pistachio cheesecake was yummy!). We both cleaned our plates and the service was excellent. Our food came out hot and quick - perfect for a lunch service!
Food and service was great! I will definitely return for other occasions. Keep up the good work and thank you for allowing me to participate in your survey!!
Not enough staff on duty. They had great lunch options but the service was horrible.
Butternut Squash Ravioli with Pinot Noir from Cali was refreshing for lunch. The warm seasoned kale added to dish was absolutely deliciously. Not too soggy and crispy enough to enjoy flavor contrast with pasta.
