13moons Ratings and Reviews
Great food, Manager stopped by and pitched in as server was overwhelmed. Food is always superb, wished desserts weren’t so commercial and were more in-house sourced and crafted like the dinners.
Also wish after happy hour, they would have a small plates menu at regular pricing available in the lounge as it is absurd to eat a regular meal on a cocktail table.
Great food always!!
Our dinner at 13 Moons was fabulous. I had the special which was halibut with a crab sauce, prepared perfectly and very tasty. My husband had the ribeye steak and really enjoyed it. Both were accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Definitely plan to return. Also we had a table by the water with water view.
I was looking forward to taking our out-of-town guests to an extra special restaurant. They did not have a window table for 6 because they are not set up for that - even though the view is an attraction. The half price wine was a nice surprise, but I found the menu to be limited. Not alot of selections. I ordered chowder and the mussels. they were out of mussels so I chose scallops. The chowder was good, the scallops never arrived until we were ready for dessert. I think they took the scallops off the bill at the end. This restaurant has the potential to be so much more than it is, in terms of fine dining, ambience and service.
First, it would be helpful of the advertising for the venue on OpenTable made it a little more clear that this restaurant is part of a casino, with all that entails.
The menu is limited, but the dishes we had were good. It seems odd that a restaurant literally in the middle of some of the biggest oyster farms in America has no oysters the half shell, especially as their online menu inaccurately says they do. However, the scallops I ordered instead were excellent. Given the limited menu, we ordered steak, and it was very well prepared from a terrific cut of rib eye. The accompanying vegetables were fairly uninspiring.
We learned later that there is a separate restaurant entrance, but, unfortunately we didn't know that and entered through the main door, which requires one to pass through the thoroughly depressing casino. This looked like the waiting room for hell, and smelled of smoke and despair. What a buzz kill.
So, a mixed review. Depressing venue (if you go through the Casino), pleasant enough room, competent if uninspired service, terrible wine list, but pretty good food if limited in choice.
A small problem occurred in that the steaks were not cooked to our preferance Managment was very nice, bought us desert and left a card for us to present at our next occasion. First time we ever had any type of problem and we will continue to patronize the restaurant in the future.
We first learned of "13 Moons" on an Advertising Poster. Looking out at the Ocean is a very peaceful pasttime. We wanted a "fine dining" atmosphere that included Seafood on the Menu. The Scallops were delicious, as well as the Crab Cakes. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Pork Chop dinner. The outside patio looked inviting but as It was breezy outside, we opted for an inside window table. If possible, we would enjoy dining on the patio next time. The service was friendly and excellent. Overall, we definitely will come back.
Thank You, Loretta & John Bosher
We have been at 13 Moons many times and we totally love it! However, this time our reservation was a bit later than we usually make. It was at 8 P.M. We found that once we finished our dinner and it came time to pay the bill that, it was impossible to see the bill. Cause it was so dark out on the patio. Everyone seemed to have the same experience and had to go to the deck lights to view the bill. We asked the server if she had a flashlight and of course she didn't!
After we also used the deck lite, we recommend that the establishment invest in candles on the tables or proper lighting . It is extremely frustrating and time consuming to not be able to read your bill !!!!
Went for my 25th anniversary and had a great time. Dinner was great, food was excellent and the service and wait staff were friendly and courteous. Our waitress took several pictures at the table but the lighting was dark so she offered to move outside and take one by the fireplace. She was courteous, friendly and never felt like it was a burden to take the picture. We got a great shot outside and are very happy.
We enjoyed a "Birthday" dinner for my wife and enjoyed the evening! Great food, view and service! We always enjoy the Crab Cakes and a cocktail to kick things off. We both had the Filet Mignon...our favorite! Always cooked perfect! We were very happy with the entire experience!
We chose 13 Moons because our son, who lives in Mount Vernon, had been wanting to try it. So, when we visited him, we decided to have a nice dinner with him. The food was excellent, the wait staff with exceptional. We would definitely choose to return and have already talked about doing so. Excellent choice for a wonderful night out!
Always a good experience. Staff are very friendly. I missed out again on the mussels to start as they were sold out. I had the Caesar salad but should have gone with the clam chowder. I just can't eat all of the appetizers. The halibut was excellent.
My husband had the ny loin special, with the strawberry balsamic chutney. He has been raving about the dish ever since and has recommended it to multiple people. It was amazing and should be a permanent meal. Fantastic food and service!
My only complaint is that the seafood salad I ordered did not have the kalamata olives in it that were listed on the menu and was part of the reason I ordered the salad. I even pointed out to the waitress that the olives were missing, she went to check and came back and said they were out of the kalamata olives. For the prices you are asking and I am willing to pay, I expect the menu to be correct. I don't think it would have been that difficult to go buy some kalamata olives so the item reflects the seasonal limited menu.
We were very impressed and pleased with our dining experience at 13 Moons. It was our anniversary and we had a great time. The service was great, very nice atmosphere. Our servers were spot on. The weather was gorgeous so enjoyed looking out at the view and boating activities. Our meals were delicious and I love the aspect of local ingredients. Love to help out our local farmers, etc. Very good wine selection, local as well and enjoyed one of their signature cocktails. I would highly recommend 13 Moons for a perfect evening and wonderful dining experience. We will certainly be back
We had a wonderful time as always. We met Paul, the manager, because I ordered an unusual drink. He was very friendly and it added to our experience. It was my birthday dinner, and the staff added a candle to my banana coconut dessert! An anonymous someone paid our bill!! We suspect it was a nice older couple sitting next to us- I was incredibly touched!!
The people and staff in this restaurant are always of caliber quality.
I am on the fence with giving this place. 4 stars straight across. Theses
Are the reasons.
1. Loud atmosphere.... not bad atmosphere.... just loud..... the view of the bay is awesome..... just bring a sweater and long pants if you want to dine outside, as it does get a little nippy as the sun goes down.
2. Food was good..... it wasn't over the top fantastic, but it was quality at a reasonable price.
168.00 for three that included 4 whiskey pours and 2 glasses of wine for those at the table....but not tip.
3. Service was good.... it could have been better.... looked like more people than servers. but the server was knowledgeable and experienced, her attitude was great and tried as best as she could with the serving staff on hand and amount of patrons.... she did well.
4. They could not fulfill their desert menu as one item was not available.
Maybe it was just an off night .
Would I recommend this restaurant to others..... yes.
You can have a very good meal and a good time here at a fairly reasonable price.
We went to 13 moons on Father's Day as a party of 2 with reservations. We were greeted by the hostess, who wasn't very enthusiastic about the job and were shown to the worst table in the restaurant with no view and was large enough for a party of 6. We asked about being seated in one of the many other empty tables within the restaurant and were told that they were being saved for later reservation holders, which surprised us, as there were at least 8 empty tables that could seat us. food was expensive and I was surprised when the grilled steak salad I ordered did not include a key ingredient of grilled peaches and this was not mentioned when i ordered. It was a good salad otherwise. Our waitress was attentive and did a good job for us. When we left the restaurant, there were still 6 empty tables in the main area (with view) that were not in use. we mentioned this too our waitress and she passed that on to the manager. As we left the restaurant, we mentioned it also to the hostess who had seated us, and she passed it off to a lot of "no shows". We actually would have left no tip, but that would have punished the wrong person in the restaurant. We won't be back and won't be recommending the restaurant to anyone.
The main dish ( Salmon) and the desert (creme brulee) was excellent, but the Salad was so-so and no bread was being offered , which for the price of the meal should have included.
The fact that the restaurant was located within a Casino made it much less appealing to me, but to others this might be a plus.
