Market salad was tasty and well-dressed. Scallop/crab appetizer special was very salty even for us who like a lot of salt. Chicken entree was overcooked, tender but dry, portion was very small for the price. Garlic mash was perfect, rich and creamy. Expected the potato cake to be crispy as pictured in other reviews but it was very soggy. Guava bread pudding was good, not too sweet, very moist with a good balance of tart from the sauce. Kitchen was slow although it was a Friday night. Server was very pleasant but slow at times as he was waiting on tables all around the restaurant. Not sure how it won best gourmet on Oahu? Always wondered about the legitimacy of these magazine and newspaper awards... For comfort / everyday gourmet food, Fete is much better in quality, taste, service, and consistency. Will not be returning. Will not be returning.
Nick provided excellent service knowledgeable and the right amount of attentive 👍🏻👍🏻
It was a good meal and the device was great. It will definitely be worth return visit.
The wait staff was excellent. The food was delicious and the drinks from the bar were top notch!
Best mahi mahi I've ever eaten, and outstanding wine list.
We enjoyed our dinner there very much. Our waiter was great. We had the avocado appetizer which was delicious, the scallops were perfectly cooked & those that had room for desserts enjoyed those as well.
Food always delicious, but the portions have become way smaller.
Overall fantastic as usual. Great bold flavors on all the dishes. Solid wine selection at a decent price and always friendly service.
For the last holiday dinner with family we came to celebrate here and were so impressed! Great service, fantastic food, variety, flavor profiles and super drinks and desserts.
We took an out of town guest. She loved it. A local place!!!
New Year’s Eve
Consistently delicious food! This is our go-to restaurant.
The Grill has lost its edge. The fried calamari continues to be very salty (never used to be) and the calamari that night tasted old. The Caesar salad is a shadow of what it once was--the romaine was limp and given the sparing amount of dressing, was basically tasteless. Similarly, the pork chop, a family favorite, had hardly any sauce making the last 2/3rd of the pork difficult to eat by itself. Everything on the "large plate" special, seared ahi, was either cold or lukewarm (i.e sauce/pasta/asparagus). The ahi was not freshly seared so much so it seemed that the plate we received might have been originally prepared for the wait staff as a tasting exercise. The Grill is a Kaimuki gem, which we have supported since it first opened. We hope they take these comments to heart and step up their game.
Good wait staff. Friendly neighborhood place away from the crowds and hustle of the beach.
Food was quite good without being pretentious.
Seems like a place to revisit on a regular basis👍.
My party had a negative experience; my husband was looking forward to having the meatloaf sandwich, which he’d had previously in the restaurant even though it is a chalkboard special at the bar during their happy hour. The server consulted with the manager and he approached our table to let us know the item was not available to us because we were sitting a couple of feet away in the restaurant. What a short sighted response...two people in my party chose to not eat anything at all because they were so looking forward to the sandwich. Others were so turned off by the position taken by the manager that we probably spent half of what we would have otherwise spent and in the long run he lost as customers EVER again. There are so many other options to choose from...remember that the next time you have the opportunity to satisfy a loyal customer, 12th Avenue Grill management.
Rarely do we go to a restaurant for one specific dish but the other evening we opted for 12th Ave. Grills unbelievable Lamb Burger. Perfectly cooked rare for us on a perfect bun. The juices kept coming throughout the meal. The smell of slightly pungent lamb got our tastebuds ready for one of 12ths great Rhône wines. What a perfect meal coupled with their over the top Aloha welcome and wait service.
12th Avenue grill is one of my favorite places to eat. During my most recent experience, we mostly ordered their seafood options (clams, scallops, special of the day fish-sushi grade) while my husband ordered the pork chop-cooked well. The food was cooked just to our liking, servers were attentive but not overbearing. Wonderful dinner!
Appetizers were far better than entrees. Great wine and beer options. Excellent service. Disappointed with the entrees. Overcooked and underwhelming
Osso Bucco and Ribeye Steak needed seasoning. Sides were good.
I’ve said this before and I will say this again. Being formally from NYC and teaching wine programs, if you transported 12th Ave Grill as it is right now to either Greenpoint or Williamsburg Brooklyn you’d need a month to get a reservation. At 12th you start off with a true Aloha greeting. The seatings are super comfortable and every waiter can create a special menu from their extensive choices and their everyday specials. Ask Rick Lily or your server to compliment your choices with one of their amazing wines.
Lamb shanks and sashimi scallops highlighted our meal.
What a fabulous place this is. We had the Beer battered Avo, salmon tartare, chicken, lamb burger and fish special. Everything was delicious and very beautifully presented. The service was spot on as we requested a different table in the main restaurant and they were able to accommodate us no problem at all. The cocktails were amazing as was the wine list Pouilly Fume was divine. This place will become a regular haunt when we are in Hawaii.
Food is consistently delicious. The BEST pork chop I've had yet. The rib eye is ALWAYS cooked perfectly and is outstanding for the price. We love this place.

We go to 12th Ave Grill about twice/month. It's our "neighborhood" dining option. It never disappoints.
We got stuck at the smallest 2-top table (so small we had to stagger our entrees’ timing). The food was just ok but really expensive. Salad was bland- the dressing literally tasted like water and oil. Lamb osso bucco wasn’t perfectly cooked (it wasn’t tender and it was dry) and the gravy was watery. Entrees need side dishes to complete the meal, even though they range from $30-40 each. Wine list is terrible.
Atmosphere was good. Little loud but I am glad we had a table that was towards the side. The Jidori Chicken was wonderful. You can always tell a good cook when the chicken breast is moist and the flavors were spot on.
Waitress was nice and attentive. All in all a very nice evening.
The restaurant week menu was amazing! The lamb was delicious and both the appetizers were flavorful! We also ordered a side of their Mac n Cheese - we just had to! It’s that goooood!
Thank you Corey for your excellent service and recommendations on our red wine selections!
Spent get better or more consistent! Go ... just go!
The oily food actually gave me a stomach ache, so I couldn’t finish the prie fix meal for restaurant week. The osso bucco was in a bowl with so much fat and oil. I only ate one and chose to toss the rest.
great food and atmosphere
One of our very favorite restaurants on Oahu! The "Restaurant Week" menu was amazing and the food truly exceptional. Thank you Kevin and Denise for making your restaurant one we enjoy whether at the Craft Bar or in the Dining Areas. You have hired wonderful, service oriented Bartenders, Wait Help and Host Help. All so very good. =)
Restaurant Week $39 3-courses menu:
1) smoked ahi bruschetta- good, with refreshing and balanced flavors
2) lamb osso buco- PERFECTION, with that oh so juicy fatty marrow, that cheesy saffron polenta and perfectly cooked brocollini
3) guava cheesecake bread pudding- good but skimpy on the guava cream anglais.
The house made breads and cocktails were on point.
Service was really good (our waitress was friendly and made really good detailed recommendations regarding the cocktails), but slow (probably due to being extra busy for restaurant week). Definitely would come back.
The food was excellent except for their signature pork chop dish. It was overcooked, dry and tough. I expect better quality control at their prices.
Pork chop was amazing!
Service was great !
They had a kids menu which had good and tasty options
We had a bit of a wait before being seated otherwise overall experience was enjoyable.
Very poorly executed dishes. Portions were extremely generous however. The lamb osso buco was dry and tasteless with an oily aftertaste. The guava cheesecake bread pudding was underwhelming. Service was prompt and efficient.
