121 Restaurant & Bar - North Salem Ratings and Reviews
Fantastic Thanksgiving dinner ! Portions were perfect, all the sides were excellent. Turkey was moist and flavorful. The mashed potatoes, stuffing, brussell sprouts and root vegetables were stand outs. Apple pie and pumpkin cheesecake desert was very good, but the donuts with dipping sauce and chocolate brownie was fantastic.
Service was great throughout the meal. Great teamwork by the staff.
We'll be back next year !!
Our first time on Thanksgiving because we usually cook. We have a child and the menu was perfect. The server was pleasant and the food was great.(Desserts were to die for)
I actually reviewed the menu after and the put everything on the table that was listed. We will be back next year!
My dining partner had ordered the chicken. The portion was generous. The problem was the chicken was raw. The waitress and management handled the situation beautifully. Without fanfare, they deducted the meal from the bill. I had ordered the scallops. They were alright. I cook scallops and felt that, not only is three scallops a bit light in the protein department, but also, mine are tastier.
Food and atmosphere was very enjoyable. The bartender needs to improve the drink selection. The Prosecco wasn’t cold, the strawberry margarita was bitter and the flirting came in an old fashioglass with ice and a cherry. Nothing about it tasted like a flirtini. I loved the appetizer selection and everything we had was good. The Brussels sprouts side dish, which sounded wonderful, was bland and tasteless.
The food was delicious. Only one thing though. We went for the Restaurant Week menu only to discover they do not offer it on a Sunday. Guess we didn't read the fine print. Otherwise, all was fine. We enjoyed the brunch and was not rushed. It was a relaxing, enjoyable meal.
When we made the reservation (over a week in advance) we requested to be seated upstairs. The request was ignored and we were told that the upstairs tables were "reserved". There were a few open. The downstairs section has slate floors and is excessively noisy with large parties. Although we received acceptable service, the overall experience was unpleasant. Our clam chowder was served with oyster crackers in the soup which were soggy and did nothing for the soup. 121 can do better with more careful management.
We chose 121 for it's GF and Veggie options which were fine. The food over all was safe and tasted fine. However, we found the service somewhat lacking. My meat came out overcooked which suggested to me that entrees had been fired too soon because they arrived well-timed after our appetizer had been taken away. Secondly, we ordered after dinner drinks but before we got them, the bill arrived w/o the drinks on it, which suggested to me our server had printed the bill before asking us if we wanted anything else. A runner or busboy took the bill with our cards, but then we didn't see them again for almost 20 minutes. Eventually our server came out and said for 20 minutes he hadn't realized the bill was no longer on the table and that our cards were just sitting next to a computer in the back. If you're the type of person who insists on perfect service when dinning out, I think you'll be happier dinning elsewhere. If that doesn't matter to you and you're not looking for anything special from your menu than by all means enjoy 121.
121 is a promising spot with lovely outdoor seating in nice weather and an attractive inside with bar/dining option. Unfortunately at a recent lunch, my daughter requested eggs which were on the Sunday brunch menu she had looked up on line but not for Sat. They could not accommodate her request. No eggs in the kitchen ? We ordered two caesar salads as entrees and the were appetizer sized insipid dishes. When anchovies were requested , they were not available. Caesar salad without that option? The food was not up to par and over priced.
The service was friendly but they are way understaffed. Too bad !
Although appetizer was good (tuna tartar), main entree of halibut over pea risotto was bland both in taste and color and uninspired. Lemon tart dessert only tasted sweet not lemony - disappointing. Service was good and the space is quite nice. Not a bad place to go for drinks and apps but would stop there.
Delicious, creative dishes, a little loud, terrible parking, fun atmosphere in bar, a little less so in restaurant, especially downstairs, but quieter there, very busy but worth the wait, ample outdoor seating, I would go again and recommend 121 to a friend.
121 is always a great choice for brunch. The menu is fresh and creative, a decent value for what's usually a grossly overpriced meal, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. And what could be better than eating on the front porch on a beautiful summer morning?
We have had very pleasant dinners at 121 previously (although a bit overpriced). However at this last dinner service was very slow (45 minutes after ordering), food was OK but not worth the money (rigatoni with sausage was good but no evidence of sausage; $33 for 3 sea scallops with vegetables). Big disappointment this time.
