This was our first time dining at 100 Steps. Food was great. Service was great. Timing of food was great. Truly a top New Jersey place. Can't wait to go back!
Our fav Fri night spot. Always consistent and delicious !
We have been to 100 steps before, they never disappoint!
Wonderful evening and great food
Just a fabulous meal. I am a huge fan of this place. Fresh seafood great preparation, and very attentive staff.
As always 100 steps delivers 5 stars. I’ve been going here for years now and have always been very impressed with staff, service, and of course the food. Raw Oysters and clams always the freshest, cleanest, and cold. I can’t say enough and hope the best for Jack the new owner, and the head chef. Good luck boys, to many more years of success, I wouldn’t know where to eat if you weren’t around.
Although everything we had was delicious we were very disappointed to find that the extensive selection of tapas style dishes and salads had been eliminated from the menu. It was not the style of eating that we had become accustomed to under previous ownership.
The food was delicious. Our server was excellent, she had a remarkable knowledge of the menu and helped us with some wonderful recommendations.
Food was great. Service was Great. The owner came over to talk and he was very nice. It was a little loud, but the place was packed - so That's probably because of how many people were there. They have outdoor seating - But August in NJ... No way. We went inside and really enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend this place to Anyone. BYOB Too.
Another wonderful dinner here. Oyster selection is excellent, great to try different oysters side by side. Love that it is a BYOB, have even brought beer in. Outside eating is surprisingly nice considering the road nearby.
100 Steps is one of our favorite date night spots. The food is outstanding and the summer menu is very creative. We love the small plates - oysters, grilled octopus, fresh house made smoked salmon, mussel pot. Yum. The service was excellent as always.
I’m a regular since I live about 5 minutes away and I’m blown away each time. Their Oyster bar is also incredible.
Best selection of oysters.
Not just dinner, but an experience
No other raw bar like it!!!!!
This was disappointing. The service was inattentive. The raw bar — our reason for visiting — was fresh, but boring. $100+ for some oysters, clams, and ceviche. One of us had a dish that claimed to include lobster. No lobster there. Where’s the former owner when you need him?
Perfect evening for outdoor dining. Service was stellar. Food was delish! Love this local gem!!!
The food and service was top notch. The oyster sampler was phenomenal. It isn’t cheap, but the food and service were worth it.
Awesome Oysters!! This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we will return. The Staff was great and the the food was worth it!! I had the Clam Pot and I'm still raving about it!! My wife had the Halibut and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. We had a dozen assorted oysters and they were over the top. This is a true fun place to visit and it is also a BYOB!! Thank you for an awesome experience!!!
Great local gem for any day or special occasions
Great service, great oysters, BYO....this is a perfect place with an amazing happy hour deal on oysters. The staff is friendly and attentive, the decor is lovely.
We've been to 100 Steps about ten times since Jack and Joe re-opened under their ownership in April 2017. The menu takes advantage of seasonal preferences and is very creative. Raw bar happy hour is a darn good value. All raw bar items are 50% off.
This time, we brought friends for their first-time OHS dining experience. We stayed three hours and thoroughly enjoyed the raw bar happy hour, four entrees, dessert and Julian's attentive service.
OHS is one of several of our favorites and it never disappoints.
If you want casual conversation during your meal, we suggest that you reserve your table for the start of happy hour. It can become very noisy starting around 6:15pm. There isn't any sound absorbent materials on windows, walls or ceilings, so it can become difficult to carry on a conversation once OHS becomes close to 'full'.
It's a great looking restaurant with good service. While all the food was fair-good, the prices were too high relative to the taste/portion size.
The poached lobster app for $25 was missing enough lobster to feel worth the ticket price.
Overall it's a good place, but a bit overpriced given the portions/tastes.
I usually go to 100 Steps for the 1/2 price Raw Bar happy hour. It is amazing! I recently ordered dinner and dessert. The dishes aren't huge but, crisp and fresh for summer. The dessert stands out most though. The Smores dessert had a brownie with graham cracker crust. The plate was lightly coated with melted marshmallow. But the best part was the smoked vanilla ice cream! It was like I was sitting around a campfire!
Another great experience. Service and food very good. Oysters always delicious, as well as several wonderful plates. Octopus one of the best we've ever had and the ricotta gnocchi topped with burrata was light, airy and wonderful.
Great Saturday night date night at 100 Steps. Loved the new summer menu. We had a series of small plates that were wonderful!
Impressive interior when you walk in the door and parking is convenient with 2 muni lots close by. Happy hour runs thru 6:30pm with many specials on oysters (1/2 price). Had the brisket taco which was quite filling. Had brie bites and peanut butter overwhelmed the brie/rasberry taste. Overall very positive and they made a special display for my wife's birthday with small ice cream. Would go again.
Great seasonal summer menu, great oyster and raw bar happy hour until 6:30pm and BYOB is always a plus. Bravo
Awesome Father’s Day brunch. Great selection of oysters- east and west coast - 9 types! Crab fritters, mussels, etc. all excellent. Top it off with a nice hostess, solid server and of course Jack. - great service to go with the great food! One of our favorites!
Menu lacks clarity as everything is appetizer size, even for $25 per plate! Diner beware! Waiter should’ve been trained to manage client expectations. Food is messy and trying too hard to be NYC quality. Should just be itself. An oyster bar. And not try to be something more.
Awesome food and service. Oysters best we ever had!
We had a spur of the moment early dinner last Friday at 100 Steps. Innovative cuisine, warm & friendly service from everyone. The meal highlight was a charred Spanish Octopus and Blistered Shisito Peppers with a Buttermilk Ranch dressing, drizzled with chili oil and served over a potato meille fleuille. Technically this was appetizer sized but with a salad; Baby Arugula, Baby Beets, Pistachio Pesto, potato chips (a nice contrast of salty and sweet) was more than enough for me. My husband's Long Island Duck Breast with Spring Onions was cooked perfectly although the Mushroom Terraine served with it was slightly under seasoned. Desserts were extraordinary - mine a Black Pepper Cake served with a Strawberry Curd, Mascarpone and Buttermilk Ice Cream was decadent and had a light spicy kick at the end. Husband opted for something more simple - an Afogado which he enjoyed. Oh and their house made dinner rolls are to die for! Overall, a delightful meal.
Loved it and cant wait to go back. The best tuna ever!!!
We came for the soft shell crabs. For $21 you get one crab, deep fried, no seasoning. Some kind of flavorless pesto on plate and a potato salad in which the diced potatoes were barely cooked. It too was flavorless. 2 of us had the crabs, 2 shared a 2 dozen oysters which they said were good. One person also had a small portion of mussels which were good and last person had scallops which were very good. We also shared the shishito peppers to munch on. Everything needed salt or some other seasoning. Service was very good. We are glad they are still in business but they need to step it up to justify the prices.
The oysters were fantastic. The descriptions of each variety were spot on. We both had the soft shell crabs which were deep-fried perfectly in a light batter. The caramel chocolate torte with hazelnuts was delicious. We’ve been here a half dozen times since they opened, and they have gotten better each time.
Excellent food and service. The owner, Jack, is always on the scene warmly welcoming guests and coming over to the table to discuss food and speak with guests. The oysters are exceptional and at happy hour they are 1/2 price. The menu is creative and well executed with specials such as soft shell crabs in season. The kitchen tries to cater to special food requests in preparation if at all possible. Wonderful gem in Cranford NJ!
Wonderful food and service! The seafood is very fresh which is most important. I had the shrimp cocktail to start and the shrimp were colossal! My husband had oysters and enjoyed them. For my main meal, I combined a pasta starter and scallop starter. The agnolotti was handmade and delicious. Nice and light! The scallops were perfectly cooked. I could’ve had a whole other plate of them! The manager/owner came over and talked to us quite awhile and made us feel welcome. The waiter brought over some complimentary dessert for my birthday. We will return and look forward to trying the raw bar happy hour.
Just went out for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The staff was pleasant and attentive without hovering. The food was out of this world. We tasted each of our appetizers and entrees and even shared 2 desserts.Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared
Excellent, but Should be adults only, no children or babies
Went to 100 Steps to celebrate a birthday! Specifically for the mussel pot and oysters. Loved our food and the scallop dish especially, we ordered another! The chocolate tart for dessert did not disappoint!
It was a wonderful evening. The service was spot on and the food was delicious and presented well. We will definitely go back!
