Awesome Father’s Day brunch. Great selection of oysters- east and west coast - 9 types! Crab fritters, mussels, etc. all excellent. Top it off with a nice hostess, solid server and of course Jack. - great service to go with the great food! One of our favorites!
Menu lacks clarity as everything is appetizer size, even for $25 per plate! Diner beware! Waiter should’ve been trained to manage client expectations. Food is messy and trying too hard to be NYC quality. Should just be itself. An oyster bar. And not try to be something more.
Awesome food and service. Oysters best we ever had!
We had a spur of the moment early dinner last Friday at 100 Steps. Innovative cuisine, warm & friendly service from everyone. The meal highlight was a charred Spanish Octopus and Blistered Shisito Peppers with a Buttermilk Ranch dressing, drizzled with chili oil and served over a potato meille fleuille. Technically this was appetizer sized but with a salad; Baby Arugula, Baby Beets, Pistachio Pesto, potato chips (a nice contrast of salty and sweet) was more than enough for me. My husband's Long Island Duck Breast with Spring Onions was cooked perfectly although the Mushroom Terraine served with it was slightly under seasoned. Desserts were extraordinary - mine a Black Pepper Cake served with a Strawberry Curd, Mascarpone and Buttermilk Ice Cream was decadent and had a light spicy kick at the end. Husband opted for something more simple - an Afogado which he enjoyed. Oh and their house made dinner rolls are to die for! Overall, a delightful meal.
Loved it and cant wait to go back. The best tuna ever!!!
We came for the soft shell crabs. For $21 you get one crab, deep fried, no seasoning. Some kind of flavorless pesto on plate and a potato salad in which the diced potatoes were barely cooked. It too was flavorless. 2 of us had the crabs, 2 shared a 2 dozen oysters which they said were good. One person also had a small portion of mussels which were good and last person had scallops which were very good. We also shared the shishito peppers to munch on. Everything needed salt or some other seasoning. Service was very good. We are glad they are still in business but they need to step it up to justify the prices.
The oysters were fantastic. The descriptions of each variety were spot on. We both had the soft shell crabs which were deep-fried perfectly in a light batter. The caramel chocolate torte with hazelnuts was delicious. We’ve been here a half dozen times since they opened, and they have gotten better each time.
Excellent food and service. The owner, Jack, is always on the scene warmly welcoming guests and coming over to the table to discuss food and speak with guests. The oysters are exceptional and at happy hour they are 1/2 price. The menu is creative and well executed with specials such as soft shell crabs in season. The kitchen tries to cater to special food requests in preparation if at all possible. Wonderful gem in Cranford NJ!
Wonderful food and service! The seafood is very fresh which is most important. I had the shrimp cocktail to start and the shrimp were colossal! My husband had oysters and enjoyed them. For my main meal, I combined a pasta starter and scallop starter. The agnolotti was handmade and delicious. Nice and light! The scallops were perfectly cooked. I could’ve had a whole other plate of them! The manager/owner came over and talked to us quite awhile and made us feel welcome. The waiter brought over some complimentary dessert for my birthday. We will return and look forward to trying the raw bar happy hour.
Just went out for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The staff was pleasant and attentive without hovering. The food was out of this world. We tasted each of our appetizers and entrees and even shared 2 desserts.Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared
Excellent, but Should be adults only, no children or babies
Went to 100 Steps to celebrate a birthday! Specifically for the mussel pot and oysters. Loved our food and the scallop dish especially, we ordered another! The chocolate tart for dessert did not disappoint!
It was a wonderful evening. The service was spot on and the food was delicious and presented well. We will definitely go back!
Can’t say it enough, this place hands down has the best quality in fresh seafood .. raw oysters and clams to die for if you like them, I won’t even try to find a better place, you always know the level of quality your getting when you go to 100 steps.. this place is in a class of its own.. hope people read this because it’s worth the trip.
Best meal I've had in a long time. The duck was divine.
Restaurant was very busy on a Thursday night and service suffered, accordingly.
They have high quality seafood which carries a commensurate higher price. Be sure to bring a bottle or 2 of wine with you to enjoy while you wait for your food.
Great place for a date. Food was amazing.
Always wonderful, fresh, fresh seafood. Love the Seafood Tower!
Three weeks in a row. Always gave us surprise! New spring menu was refreshing. Black pepper cake browned my wife away!
Great, inventive food. Service is on point.
Pricy but worth it.
Great seasonal modern America cuisine. Always consistently great and fresh ingredients. The Arctic char and Agnolotti were amazing. Thanks for a great evening
The food was good but the portions very small. We enjoyed everything but had to eat again when we got home
Once again, a standout evening. Food and service both excellent and over the top!
They have done a great job with menu and food. Would like to see more on the portions as they are quite small especially the clam pot.
First time for brunch, but I have been here for dinner. The pancakes were fantastic! I liked the French toast flavor, however, it wasn't hot, just sort of warm and I wished they used Challah bread. My son had the omelette and loved that.
Oysters are always awesome! Food is NYC grade level. Staff is excellent. Ambiance is superb. What more can one ask?
The food was ok the service could have been better.
I’ve been here multiple times and always leave more than satisfied. The flavors are incredible. The seafood is extremely fresh. The happy hour prices are amazing!
If you’re looking for a high end meal at a cheap price go before 630pm to enjoy the half price menu.
This is exactly what I did. Their menu changes often which keeps me coming!
Food was excellent. Great service, all questions about the menu were answered. I had Spanish mackerel as a market special plate. It was served with pickled red onions over caraway hummus....amazing!!!
Will definitely be back!!!
Great food. My wife and I loved the Mussel Pot and Clam Pot. Well prepared. Great service. Great place.
Went for oyster happy hour. I'm glad to see this is continuing. I do miss the Cape May Salts, but the east coast oysters on the menu were delicious! The duck meatballs were different, not fatty at all. Be sure to request a regular table when you make reservations. We had reservations for opening There was only one other couple in the place. The hostess tried to seat us at a high top. Ridiculous! But I won't let a dippy hostess keep me from going back for the great food!
Food was great. The place was to noisy for conversations. We finally heard each other when the place cleared out.
Consistently great food, service, and hospitality. Cuisine is focused on fresh locally sourced seasonal ingredients with a fresh modern American flare. Great experience as always
Very nice waiter, good food, not sure our entrees were worth the money but our appetizers were amazing. We usually get the tower here and it can’t be beat.
Excellent. Only suggestion is a steak dish on the menu.
Everything is delish. Julian & Rick are outstanding.
We went for their Christmas Eve Feast of Seven Fishes. It did not disappoint. It was our first time here since the change in ownership. We are happy to see the raw bar is the same, with a great selection of local oysters. Missed the Cape May Salts though. The special fish dishes were original and portions were enough to feel satisfied, but not grossly full. Staff was attentive and stopped by regularly to check on us. Looking forward to more visits!
100 Steps is one of my favorite restaurants.
Great oysters and small plates. Meatballs are amazing. Also had great service. Definitely recommend.
