10 Degrees South Ratings and Reviews
Food and music were great! Service was terrible! We had to prompt the server for EVERYTHING(taking our order, refilling drinks, bringing our check, etc). He refused to split check between us and another couple and he always disappeared so we had to go to the bar and request the server.
It wasnt even crowded for a Saturday night!
The ladies greeting guests need some major training in customer service. Wouldn’t seat us at first because 4th person hadn’t arrived? Really? Table for 4 and you won’t sit 3? Then sat us at worst table in hallway basically when 90% of restaurant unoccupied. I asked to move tables which they did begrudgingly. Our server was great but if this was my first time - which it’s not - at this restaurant I would think twice about returning after this treatment.
The ambience was perfect for this anniversary dinner w/ special friends. Beautiful interiors in an understated building. Service was great as well as the food. The hostess knew it was our anniversary and had the bartender mix up a special round of shots (on the house) for all 6 of us. They even considered the "non-drinkers" of the night in our group by only adding a splash of alcohol. Another server offered to escort us outside for a group photo at the "magic hour" of lighting. Our server gave wonderful suggestions and everyone's food was great.
10 Degrees South did it again! This visit was my 5th or 6th visit in the last 18 months and this visit was for a special birthday. One word - fabulous! We started at the bar with Mia. Great service and excellent drink and food suggestions while we waited on the entire party. Our waitress, Taylor, was wonderful when we got to our table. Our grandchildren were with us and Taylor made two new friends right away. The food was amazing as always. We had the Safari Platter, two fish dishes, two appetizers, and the Vegetable Curry and shared them family style. A hit with everyone present! Taylor choose the desserts for us and WOW... What a wonderful night; we will definitely go back very soon.
Sometimes I feel like your favorite restaurants are the ones that disappoint you the most because you go in knowing what the service and food are SUPPOSED to be like, and when it's grossly under par you're even more disappointed. Historically a huge advocate of this restaurant and their sister location, Yebo, I talked a small group into dining there this weekend for a special occasion and left feeling embarrassed after only the appetizer course to dine elsewhere. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation (which wasn't horribly bad because the music in the bar was great) however with limited standing room in the bar area and the staff running around frantically and asking us to move out of the way -- it wasn't the best start. Finally after asking the hostess when we would be seated we finally found our table. At least 20 minutes after we still had no water filled or a server to introduce themselves. Once again I approached the hostess stand asking for service. A very nice lady came by and apologized and took our drinks and appetizers. Still waiting for water and an extended time on drinks we then decided to spend our money elsewhere asking for the tab. As someone who's personally worked in fine dining before, I get it - sometimes the kitchen gets backed up or you're understaffed. But the entire team (aside from our sweet server) seemed uncommitted and disconnected from the 'diners experience' which is so important. Unfortunately I won't be back, and I will no longer be a huge advocate like I once was.
I had long anticipated having an opportunity to dine at this restaurant., knowing that it would be somewhat of a splurge beyond my usual dinner dining out budget. We recently dined there on a special occasion. The food was well prepared and its presentation met my expectations. We were very pleased with the atmosphere. The menu pricing was disappointing, not at all a reasonable value based upon serving size. Based solely upon the pricing , we would be reluctant about dining there again.
The lobster egg rolls were amazing and probably our favorite item. The calamari was delicious as well. I would stick with the smaller plates as the entrees seemed over cooked. Only issue with service is be prepared to be recommended the highest dollar items instead of what may be good.
We had a spectacular meal at 10 Degrees South! Everything was wonderful from the moment we walked to when we left. Everyone on the staff was friendly and gracious and on point. Big shout outs to our sever Emily and the bartender Sean. The wine list was unique and well balanced and the food was perfect. This is a fantastic restaurant, a true gem!
This was our first time at 10 Degrees South, and we will definitely return. We celebrated my wife's birthday and shared small plates, which allowed us to sample a variety of the South African cuisine. The good was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We also enjoyed the ambiance -- the building provides a nice setting and the dining area, complete with soaring ceilings and gold rhinos, is stunning. Although we enjoyed all the food, the Safari salad stand out for its freshness and creativity. We also give high marks to the lobster rolls, peri peri chicken rolls, and the prawns. The restaurant served my wife a complementary flan for her birthday, which was amazing. Finally, I cannot say enough about the service. It seems that these days restaurants do not invest in training their servers, even at the more upscale establishments. It was very clear that the servers at 10 Degrees South were well trained. Everything was efficient, professional, and polished. We are looking forward to our next visit.
I have never experienced south African cuisine before so in all fairness I cannot say whether-or-not the food is authentic. I ordered the chicken curry entree which was a typical curry dish however unlike any other curry entrees I have had this one was topped with cold, sliced banana and toasted coconut. It was kind of like an entree topped with desert which I really didn't like. Maybe that's how it is served in South Africa? My fiance had the Kingklip fish entree which from what I understand is a commonly eaten fish in South Africa. I thought it tasted like Cod which really isn't that exciting to me. Overall I would say the food here is average.
Delicious and different -- every server was very attentive and helpful. We ate appetizers only as a tapas version of a meal and loved it. The lobster spring rolls were fantastic and they may have the best calamari in Atlanta. We enjoyed a tasty South African bottle of sparkling rose at a reasonable price as well.
Fantastic. My boyfriend and I came here for date night and ordered the big meat platter. Soooooo yummy! ALSO - try the lobster and little spicy meat spring rolls. They are amazing and the sauces that come with them are sooo good.
We brought my parents back to eat here when they visited and they loved it, too!
The cocktails are also great. I am a very picky drinker and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
We have always enjoyed our 10 degrees South experiences. This time was no different. We ordered the platters for four something we have not done before. There was plenty for the four of us and we got to experience lots of different tastes. We were disappointed the server forgot to bring the wine for the seafood/fish platter, so when it arrived and we were all but finished with the fish, we cancelled that bottle and just bought a delicious red for the meat course. Everything was fine including the wonderful desserts. We will visit again in the near future.
