The food and the service were both outstanding. The 3 of us basically ordered what our server recommended. The chicken livers were amazing, and then we shared a large sampler plate of meats that was incredible.
Everything was perfect. Food was delicious, private room was perfect, and our server was excellent! The gentleman working valet was also gracious and professional! 10 Degrees South continues to be my favorite restaurant!
I used to go to 10 Degrees South often, as it's near my house. Because it's a little on the expensive side, it a bit more of a special occasion for me now. On my most recent visit, I had the beef bobotie, and it's just as good as I remembered it from my prior visits. In fact, I think it's one of my favorite dishes from any cuisine at any restaurant! It's has a great combination of sweetness and spice that is a unique profile for South African cuisine.
I also sampled the very good Boerewors with a tomato and onion sauce.
It was disappointing that another one of my favorites, the mektert, is no longer on the menu as a desert item, but it might be a blessing as I mostly skip deserts now.
10 Degrees South is an excellent choice to bring out-of-town visitors who aren't afraid to try something that is deliciously different.
I can recommend the lamb chops, chicken curry, ostrich medallions ( SO good) and chocolate lava cake. I didn’t care for South African wines, unfortunately. We’ll be back!
Ambience was excellent. Veggie Curry dish I had was so so. Need better vegan options.
Amazing spot for food, drinks, and nice ambiance! Had a great time for date night!
My wife and I love the place. It's kind of cozy.
We had a reservation for 6:30 and when we arrived there was only one table occupied with one couple there. The maitre d on duty tried to sit us immediately next to the couple who, until then were enjoying a peaceful dinner, with no one sitting right on top of them! We politely asked if we might be seated elsewhere - there were at least 8 other tables of two available in the front part of the restaurant alone. We were informed that all of the other tables were reserved. (As was ours - not aware you could request a specific table when reserving?! ) We were seated two tables away and want to note that during the time we were there, several other tables for two farther away remained vacant!
Our several was phenomenal! Our server xplained the different dishes exceptionally well. He made the experience that much better. The food was better than expected.
Everything was great. Our server was great. Only problem was that the drink service was incredibly slow. I was about 30 minutes to get our first drink, aside from water.
This was my first time dining here. I will definitely go back again. The food was good. The drinks were too.
Great atmosphere for an intimate night out on the town. Excellent food and service.
Loved everything about this place. The decor was very nice and the servers had great customer service. We went for Valentine’s Day and for $70 you get an appetizer, entree and dessert! Would highly recommend!
Great overall! Recommended to my friends & family.
Nice quiet atmosphere good food and wine selection nice spot for an intimate date
The food is ALWAYS incredible and this time was no different. Perfect portions and everything was cooked to perfection. Our service was also exceptional!
Fantastic restaurant! Service, food, atmosphere...you can’t go wrong!
My new favorite place.
Ten Degrees has been our go to place for over 10 year now. My husband and I LOVE the Calamari and Boerewors Sandwich with a few Lychee martinis to start. It is always hard to decide because everything is good! The service is always top notch. We love the upscale lounge atmosphere. We look forward to going back always.
The food here is very good. We had the lobster spring rolls, prawns, sea bass (catch of the day), and chicken curry. They also had a pretty good cocktail menu, but I believe, for the price, the drinks could be larger and/or heavier pours (first drink was mostly all ice).
The worst part was the service however. Our waitress was nice, but was not attentive to the table and we sat waiting multiple times for refills or waiting to order something. The restaurant was also not that busy, so not sure what the issue was.
Will certainly return again due to the delicious food, but hope the service is much improved the next time around.
Second time I’ve been and the second time I’ve been disappointed. The food is decent but service is severely lacking. Also, both times I have gone I was either overcharged on my CC or brought the wrong change with cash. One time is an error, but two times?
I overall enjoyed the food and atmosphere but for a restaurant of this caliber, our waitress could have been a little more knowledgeable with the menu and friendly. When asking questions about the food, no description ir detail was given just *its good* and her personality was very dry. The food however, was delicious. Me and my husband will go back again, but if the service is the same, that will definitely be our last visit here.
One of my favorite restaurants! Excellent food, service and ambiance. Some of my favorites are the sautéed mushrooms appetizer, biltong Caesar salad and chicken curry. Can’t wait to come back!
The service was wonderful! The food was delicious and authentic!
Great food and service as always! Since it’s cold right now, they need to keep the temperature warmer in the restaurant, we were freezing the entire time.
Food was very unusual and wonderful. Will go again soon!
Wonderful dining experience!
Unique and tasty menu. Love the decor and ambiance and nice that they have entertainment in the bar area. We sat next to fireplace which was cozy
The experience started out of the blocks on a negative in that we were offered on two small tables in the entrance and exit area of the facility. Versus suggesting waiting in the bar until tables in the balance of the facility become available. Every time a server or employee would pass behind my chair they would hit my chair as would the customers going to their tables and leaving their tables.
Now, the true key to the frustration of this facility was the server. It should have been easy and yet it was not. We ordered bottled water and it took over one hour to receive it. I ordered one glass of wine and two other tables came in and ordered and received their wine and I had to remind the server of my wine order and then he had to ask me again what did I order to begin with. I reminded him of the second bottle of water we were waiting on for an hour and he asked me what kind did I order! I pointed to the empty bottle sitting on the table! He forgot to bring our entree and had only assumed we had already eaten it and the plates had been removed. We simply said ‘no!’ And this type of service continued for the balance of the evening. The owner or host or other employee never went by and monitored service levels or customer satisfaction levels.
When booking our New Years resolution they claimed live entertainment! They did have live entertainment it was on man with one guitar! What a way to bring in the new year!
We arrived at 7:25 for a 7:30 dinner reservation on New Year's Eve. At 10:05 we were still waiting for our dessert and this was a pres fix menu. The choices on the pres fix were very good as was the food. The service was okay, but I think one or two more servers might have helped the situation. We watched as those who arrived before and, some who arrived after us, were served and departed. Not sure whether it was our server who seemed to have forgotten us or what, but we were the last of the people arriving at 7:30 to be served and we left with our dessert in hand. The other issue was my husband's chair. He is 6 feet tall. but not a large man. When he sat in his chair he sank down so low, his chin was almost on the table. He also commented on how uncomfortable the seat was. Perhaps some new chairs for the new year? They have had these same chairs for many years, I recognize them. I would definitely recommend 10 degrees South as a wonderful place to dine and we will return, but certainly never again on New Year's Eve and for that matter no evening when there is a special holiday as I fear the same situation may occur.
We made this reservation last minute for NYE and no where was there mention in this app of a NYE prix fixed menu. Once we sat down and realized was informed it was $75/ person. We had our 9 year old child with us which they did accommodate for us (very kind) however due to the night, alternate options were not as easy as usual. All other restaurants had these details in the open table app and/ or on the confirmation of reservation and this one did not.
Our lead server was very accommodating, the food runner was absolutely rude, drinks service was slow and my husbands $75 lamb shank was over cooked as in he didn’t eat it . I should have noticed when he didn’t eat it all or take it home. Considering the price that we were forced to pay, the food quality and level of service did not match the caliber.
Highly annoyed with the lack of information from the app that is preferred. Leaving 2019 with a bill that was NOT expected.
