Food was excellent - we enjoyed our meal very much. The portions are a little on the smaller side, but the quality more than makes up for it.
This may be the best Japanese restaurant in the city. The menu changes seasonally and the raw fish offerings are amazingly fresh and many options are flown in from Japan. The chef is super creative and his offerings are reminiscent of the type of modern Japanese cuisine you find in Tokyo. At the same time if you want more traditional Japanese offerings that's available too. We have dined there for years and unlike so many places where quality declines and the menu gets tired 1 or 8 is constantly improving and innovating. You won't be disappointed.
Amazing! I want to go back already and try the rest of the menu. Everything was absolutely fantastic.
These folks are amazing. The tasting menus are terrific. The food is TOP NOTCH. The service is welcoming. We felt like they knew us even on our first visit. Fantastic!!
This place is freaking insane! Each bite is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. A sublime experience. Is a hidden Michelin star.
New menu is awesome. The chef fuses French cooking with traditional Japanese dishes. Not your typical sushi bar, but you can still order rolls if you want. The crudo dishes are the stars of the show. Unique flavor pairings with perfect cuts of sashimi. Great cocktails and sake selection. Also has awesome bar snack food if just want to have drink at front bar. Neighborhood favorite!
The entire kitchen staff has changed and the food quality has diminished significantly
Was much better in the past now mostly chef rolls which feel uneccessady
This place is WTF good. The food was spectacular, If you're a foodie it's a must try. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly welcoming. The Chef clearly takes great pride in his craft. I will definitely be back.
BEST. SUSHI. I. HAVE. EVER. HAD. IN. MY. ENTIRE. LIFE.
This place serves some of the best sushi in NYC. The food is overall phenomenal. They make their own tofu, so the miso soup is superb. Also, their edamame rocks. Service can be a bit slow but waiters are always extremely nice. Ambiance is very nice.
Truly one of the very best meals I've had anywhere. Tremendous service, incredible food and one of hell of a restaurant. Highly recommend just doesn't do justice...
Went with some friends visiting from France and we had a great night - the food was delicious, our waitress was very patient and welcoming...Overall the night was great! We will come back.
This is one of my FAVORITE spots in Brooklyn. It's such a beautiful room matching the beautiful food presentation and lovely service. The ONLY thing I would say is that I wish the lights were 20% dimmer for added romance.
Amazing Japanese cuisine! We had lots of dishes and all of them were perfect. The service was pretty good too! Shinji was incredible.
Second time here and it was a great one! We were seated right away, and sat at a great table in the middle section. Sake was awesome, and of course the fish is where it's at! Note: there is a new menu, and the omakase sushi was not available, just sashimi. Not a problem for me, but do note that their menu changes. Making your own hand rolls was a lot of fun! Will be back again!
The menu has changed quiet a bit here. It was still lovely but not what we were expecting going in. Supposedly their sushi chef left and out of respect to him they decided to not hire a new one. Seems a bit crazy if you ask me. We were really looking forward to sushi and had crudo instead that was lovely then a make your own hand roll experience. Not the same but good.
Food is ok. Nothing extraordinary. Overpriced.
Been going here for years and while the menu changes it's always consistently great. And don't go by the menu alone- even simply named items like 'Squid' turn out to be very creative and awesome.
This restaurant is big, open and airy. The food is delicious but a bit on the avant garde side. We had high hopes for the tasting menu but once we saw it, it did not appeal. So my husband and I shared several small apps. I had the chirashi for the main course; he had a few DIY hand rolls.
We live in NYC and are used to paying $$ for good food but the prices seemed ridiculous for the portion sizes here, which is why I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. I was still hungry afterwards and our bill was $240.
The food was absolutely fresh and tasty, except for being so pricy for such small portion size (less than a bite). What's more, we wait for about an hour before our nigiri was served. Also we were told they didn't offer sushi when we were there, which was the reason why we came. Besides the pre-fixed courses, they only have nigiri with special sauces and handrolls ingredients so that you could make your own hand roll. The food itself was tasty, it was the size and the options that didn't satisfy us. We were there for a friend get-together but we spent about $65 per person and left with a still hungry stomach.
great food and very good value, japanese French fusion cuisine at high level, surely worth spending an evening if you are looking to get out of the usual.
Easily the best sushi I've had in the United States. Very much worth visiting
If you can't get to Tokyo any time soon visit One or Eight. The chef showcases the essence of modern Japan which maintains one chopstick in traditional Japan and one in cutting edge 21st century cuisine. The food is exquisite, the service friendly and knowledgeable, and the setting Zen meets Williamsburg.
Great menu, beautiful display. Atmosphere is private and you get much more space at a 2-top than at most restaurants in Williamsburg. Would recommend for a date.
This was are second time at this restaurant, and it will not be the last time.Loved it!!
A sublime experience from start to finish. The food hit every note - fresh, inventive, thoughtful, and delicious. Impeccable service. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed the creative japanese food in a very nice environment and excellent service
