Entree was not as described on the menu. This is an Italian restaurant but the “Osso Bucco” was a pork shank, not veal. Worse, the waiter did not tell us that it was pork until one guest, dismayed, exclaimed ,”This is NOT Osso Bucco.” The waiter had the manager come over, and the manager argued the identity of the entree, insisting that they prepare many different osso bucco dishes with different meat sources.
Little gem tucked away on west 55th. Comfortable seating. The tables are nicely spaced apart. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Great service. But, best of all, was the food. We had it all - wine, appetizers, main course and dessert. Simply delicious. Highly recommend.
This was the worst weather day (heavy rain/wind) to be in the city but we had 3pm tickets to The Bronx Tale. The show was super and we could not wait to get to Nocello to talk about the show and enjoy our dinner. We were wet and cold but the restaurant was warm and cozy. We have been coming here for years and they never disappoint us. Our appetizers and entrees were off the charts and our desserts as well. The service is always wonderful and its nice to see familiar faces again. I would always recommend this restaurant and I hope to see you again for many years to come. Thanks for the Nocello touch
We had a very mediocre meal at Nocello. The Caesar salad was pathetic.... nothing but lettuce, a few croutons and insipid dressing. The main veal dish was uninspired...the veal cutlet which should have been crispy..sat in a pool of some liquid which made it soggy. The mashed potatoes were boring...the veggies plain. In short....no effort was made to bring anything up to a standard one would expect in a decent kitchen. I will never go back there.
Truly delicious food and very professional, committed service. I especially like that the waiter agreed to split everything in the kitchen, since we shared a Caesar salad, followed by the marvelous Nocello ravioli, followed by the flavorful sea bass special. This restaurant is the real deal, packed with very happy people eating beautifully prepared food in a lovely setting. This was the perfect place to dine before seeing a show at New York City Center. We made sure to tell the waiter that we needed to be out in time to see the show, and he made sure that indeed we were.
I am very pleased to have found Nocello, thanks to Open Table. It is small and intimate with a pleasant decor and a quiet Italian atmosphere. The menu is very extensive and the food beautifully prepared and delicious. The selection of wines by the glass was quite good. The dessert selection was less impressive and the chocolate mousse I had was only okay (a bit cakey).
Overall, however, it was a very enjoyable meal. We will be back and will recommend it to friends.
Really nice restaurant. It was a busy evening but the staff was attentive and did not rush us at all. Hubby had the sea bass special, I had the chicken with mushrooms and walnuts. Yum! We had the artichoke hearts app, the marinara was silly good! We asked for extra bread to dip ;-)
The staff was extremely thoughtful and considerate and made our birthday dinner a wonderful experience. We ordered the Ceasar salad and the artichokes that were amazing. For dinner my Pork Osso Bucco with spinach ricotta was served hot and too perfection. Best of all is the owner and the wait staff, who made sure our experience was exceptional in every way. We won’t wait until next birthday to go back!
Our first trip. Arrived early. We were told we could sit and have a lovely drink. They graciously added a third diner at our table at the last minute and seated us until he arrived. Food was wonderful. Service was excellent. We were not hurried. We were treated like regulars and not like tourists. We come to the city frequently and Nocello will be our new favorite restaurant. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Fantastic! I was looking for some really good Italian while I was in the city, and it delivered. The service was spectacular, the value was spot on, and the quality was perfect. I've had this good of Italian, and it was in Tuscany. Thank you for a lovely experience!
it was our first visit, but the staff were so welcoming we felt almost like regulars. The food was uniformly excellent: highlights included the saffron risotto with shrimp (a special that night), the baby lamb chops, and the sea salt caramel gelato. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!
Found this place in our neighborhood a couple of years ago and it has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. Everything starts at the top and the owners share duties in welcoming guests and seeing that all's in top order. Food has yet to disappoint. Salads, pastas, meats and seafood all excellent and the mixed berries tart and zabaglione are not to be missed.
The ambience at Nocello is warm, with a pleasant buzz. The staff are efficient and friendly. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, with the exception of the caesar salad, which we found bland and disappointing. But all in all, this is a restaurant that is now on our regular roster when we go to New York.
