Restaurant was terrific except for our waiter. My wife, who has a garlic allergy, asked about a certain dish and was assured there was no garlic in it. When it came, it not only had garlic taste but you could see the small cloves of garlic in the sauce itself. We complained to the owner, who was absolutely terrific about it. He personally apologized twice and took the meal off the bill. He more than made up for the negligence of the waiter. Except for that problem, we loved it.
I came from Connecticut to try this restaurant, and wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent, the food, absolutely outstanding. A true gem. Looking forward to the next meal there.
We have been to I Nocello a number of times, usually when we have a show in the area. As always, we found the found excellent and well presented. However, on this night we found the service was off. We had a very look wait from the time our appetizer plates were removed until we we were served the main course. So much so, that we requested the check as soon as the entree was served, as we were afraid we would miss our curtain. They did wrap our desert and bring it to us while we were working on our entree, so we did not miss out on a delicious dessert.
This restaurant is a place that makes you feel at home in the Italian way. The staff is friendly and helpful, and puts you at ease from the moment you enter. The food is tasty and the portions are not stingy. The Duck Risotto is delicious as is the veal. The red wine list is extensive, the white listings however need improvement. The Berry Tart for dessert is very satisfying. If you dine here you will not be disappointed.
Everything was fine except our seating was absolutely terrible. We were basically the second to dine and were seated at the first table at the entrance which was busy with people and staff continuously passing us. That table should be the last for anyone to be seated, or taken out completely. Reservations were made weeks ago u think they could of done better. Food and service good though.
It was a nice place and the food was ok. The wine was very good. The valentine’s menu was not my favorite choice but I saw such good stars for this place. Maybe will come to this place again if they change up the menu for the Valentine’s Day.
Nocellos is consistently great each time we go there. I wish it was more often but we live in Suffolk County.
Service was great and everything was good
Very charming and romantic, and authentically Italian. Delicious food and attentive service.
Chose this restaurant based upon proximity to Carnegie Hall. Our choice was perfect as the Carnegie is a 3 minute walk and the restaurant was excellent.
Located below street level, in a long space with lots of cozy nooks. Even though the restaurant was fully booked, we felt like we were the only people there. The decor is interesting and brought about a warm feel.
Service was knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing or obnoxious. A small bowl of exquisite olives are brought out along with fresh bread to dip into the oil the olives are soaking in. Everything we ordered was excellent: mozzarella burrata with prosciutto appetizer, house-made pappardelle with lamb ragu, chicken francese, and cannoli.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Nocello’s. The staff was engaged and friendly. The ambiance was rustic and warm. Our food arrived in a timely manner well prepared and most importantly hot and steaming. Portion sizes were generous. The wine list was amble and appropriate to the cuisine offered. The desserts were more than worth the caloric cost. Highly recommend this gastronomic gift in the fifties to all who want a special night of indulgence and dining.
A wonderful surprise in the theater district. Food was authentic and completely delicious, the ambiance atmospheric, dark and romantic and the service was very concerned and gracious. A definite keeper!
Got there right on time when they opened with a reservation. Sat right away and it was a relaxing meal. Difficult to get the check at the end but attributed that to it being not very crowded. Dinner was really good though.
Excellent and authentic Italian food in a whole in the wall spot that expands in the back. Great west midtown location.
One of the best Italian Restaurants in NYC...... great food, service, and a nice quiet atmosphere. I mostly travel on business into New York, and the quiet feel yet intimate atmosphere is much appreciated. Can’t wait to visit again!
Nocello made for a lovely evening. We enjoyed a leisurely and delicious dinner. No rush to get out, a very good wine at a reasonable price, and an altogether very nice place.
A concert at Carnegie Hall is always special and we enjoy dining at Nocello. This time the service was a bit slow so luckily we had left plenty of time to get to the concert. The spinach salad with a warm poached egg and crumbled bacon is a favorite of ours! The veal Bolognese was good though a bit over cooked and the Parmesan crusted lamb chops were delicious but pricey. Attentive host couple and good house wines were appreciated as was the delicious cappuccino.
Lamb chops superb as usual!
Excellent ambiance, great service and delicious meals. We were a group of 9 and everyone raved about the meal they had that evening. You will not be disappointed. A spot hidden between 8th & Broadway. Make a point to visit.
Perfectly prepared dishes every time and the specials are wonderful, you never need to look at the menu. Staff goes out of its way to make sure you are taken care of. Always try to make this one of our dinner stops when we visit the city as it is a true neighborhood gem.
Food is delicious. Wonderful romantic restaurant.
Food was delicious, service was great and it was very quaint for two.
Nice atmosphere, quiet, good lighting. Food is tasty with a good selection. We shared a nice arguela salad, an excellent lobster & pasta dish, and a very good veal scallopine dish. Service was professional & attentive. Pricing was very fair. We would go back!
Loved finding this little gem near the theatre district in NYC. Delicious food and cozy atmosphere.
We arrived at 4:50 for our 5:30 reservation without realizing the restaurant doesn't open until 5:00. They were nice enough to seat us when we arrived which was very much appreciated since it was about 15 degrees! The food is always very good. The service is ok....waiters not friendly and they ask a few times if you're ready to order. Nevertheless, I would still recommend it.
We really had a good time at the place. Daniel the waiter was great with dish suggestions.
Good but not great. Service ok, ambiance wonderful
Ok restaurant, nothing special, average food, and for these prices you expect better. Good location, very small portions and nothing remmbwrabke.
Our second visit to this restaurant. the first was very good the second was great. The service excellent, veal scaloppini the best I've had, full of flavor, thin cut with a fork. Pounded parmesan crusted lamb chops delicious with 6 in the plate. From Westchester I will go to the city just to have dinner here and return home!
We found Nocello’s by chance and could not have been happier. The food was wonderful and the service was terrific. We have already sent notes to friends this is a place to visit.
Amazing squid caponata and fresh pasta!
Get the fried artichokes! Like nothing I’ve ever had and in the best sauce
We visit this restaurant every time we stay in NYC. It is a gem! We sent our daughter and friend when they stayed in NYC and they, as we , were treated like gold!!
So convenient to Carnegie Hall. Food was excellent and staff is very friendly.
I always come back to Nocello because it's about the only affordable restaurant in town where you can actually have a conversation without screaming over the noise. The ambiance is charming, the wait staff is always courteous and competent and the food is good. What more can you ask for?
Wonderful food, great atmosphere and attentive staff
cozy intimate back rooms, friendly staff, accommodating, and great food!!
We love this place. It's great for getting together with others, as the atmosphere is quiet and it's easy to talk and listen to each other. We also love the food. I go back again and again for the Calamari Puttenesca. I love it!
Excellent food and service, as always. We love the Scampi Alla Nonna.
