Best meal we had while visiting NYC. Homemade Italian food was spectacular. Service and atmosphere were great. A must while visiting New York.
Quite a charming place. Lots of nooks and crannies. Very tight space, including the bathrooms. That being said, the food was delicious. The scampi was the best I've ever had! The one issue I had, and I hesitate to say this, was that the service was overly solicitous. They seated us immediately, asked what time our show was and that was wonderful. Coming back every few minutes was beginning to make us feel rushed and uncomfortable. Won't stop me from returning but there has to be a middle ground between being ignored and being constantly checked on.
We have eaten at Nocello many times over the years, and continue to enjoy the delicious food and attentive service. We recommend it to friends, and it is especially convenient because we attend concerts at Carnegie Hall and City Center.
Lovely place, delicious food, wonderful caring service, all with a beautiful ambiance!
Not a very friendly atmosphere
. A waiter....Didn’t want to turn the ac on and we needed ask twice at 7:45pm on a Thursday for a little air. Otherwise we were leaving,
Dining room was unacceptably very dark . Terrible lighting. Eating in your own shadow and trying to order while being eclipsed by the waiter. Large menu of uninviting choices.
Large portion of Dry bread followed by an $80 dollar warm bottle of Barolo.
Very average food at best.
Very disappointing and definitely will not be back.
One of our guests couldn’t eat the fish it was so over cooked and the server didn’t even ask why.
Really a shame
Good location & good food. A great place for a visit with family and friends.
Food and service was great! Only thing missing was some Italian style background music (there was spa style music and my husband started to sing some Italian music on his own). Would have liked a cocktail menu but they were able to make anything we asked for. Overall, would definitely recommend and return for another meal!
Nocello is a lovely neighborhood restaurant with delicious food. The staff is very friendly and interested in making your dining experience pleasant.
What an unbelievable hidden gem. The food was spectacular and so was the service
First time here and the food was very good and not to pricy. We were able to get a bottle of wine for $30 which is great for NYC. I would definitely go back
We all enjoyed our Birthday Celebration! Thank you for your delicious food and terrific service
We were seated right awy even though 2 of the part were missing. We were a group of 6. The food service and overall hospitality were exceptional. For a midtown restaurant this place was warm and inviting and even with a vegan and a vegetarian everyone loved their food and the wine was excellent
We went to Nocello for a pre-theater dinner and had a great experience. The service was prompt and attentive and the food (pasta and fish) was excellent. We look forward to returning again.
Simply delicious and good cocktails too. This is our go-to Italian restaurants that locals and out-of-town guests all enjoy.
A Lovely evening with incredible food, atmosphere, and the wait staff was good
Good food. Good service.
Great neighborhood restaurant as well as a pre-theatre dinner restaurant. The food was delicious, well prepared. The menu had lots of choices as well as specials. We ate the more traditional dishes, which were very good.
Everything was wonderful about Nocello. I even felt like I was in Italy! The space was intimate without being on top of other tables. Our gazpacho soup and swordfish main course were excellent - actually the soup was the best gazpacho I've ever had! Next time I'm in NYC, I will go out of my way to eat at Nocello.
We chose 1 Nocello because it was recommended by the New York City Center where we had tickets to a show. We were not disappointed! The food and service were wonderful and because of our timing, we were encouraged to take our time and enjoy. On our way out, the place was filling up quickly. We will definitely return.
Delicious!!!! Great service
One of my favorite restaurants in New York City. Family owned, outstanding food, great service and great value. The regular menu is varied and I am never disappointed. The specials are also outstanding. Friday, I had fettuccine, shrimp, avocado topped with a COLD LEMON sauce. What a great summer dish! I loved it!
Food was fresh , nicely prepared and presented well , had duck and ravioli from priced fix menu , overall was a good value .Decor was dated . Service was good and attentive
Another wonderful meal at Nocello. My husband had the pappardelle with lamb ragu... delicious, I Had the shrimp scampi Nocello....absolutely delicious...I want more. This restaurant has lovely ambiance and priced nicely for NYC...
Fantastic food & cocktails at a totally affordable price for Manhattan!
The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. I particularly liked that it was fairly quiet (unlike a lot of midtown restaurants), so we were able to speak to each other without shouting. I would recommend this restaurant as a great place to go before the theatre.
We lucked out, getting a small round table for 4 on the upper level with a couple of no-show large parties in the same area, so we ended up having the whole area to ourselves. I started off with a Cosmo which was very tasty and strong, just as I like it. I enjoyed the baked clams oreganata appetizer, although it was served only luke warm. The bread at the table didn't seem particularly fresh, which was disappointing. My husband always loves the pasta fagioli soup, which was served piping hot as he had requested. My veal main dish was fine, but nothing special but my husband was very unhappy with his calamari main dish- he had expected it to be fried but it wasn't and was served in a red sauce he didn't care for. Overall, though, I like this restaurant for its lovely ambience, pleasant and competent waiters and decent food. We don't like noisy restaurants and 1 Nocello is usually not particularly noisy so that's a big plus for us.
Food was excellent. The prices were very reasonable for an upscale restaurant in NYC. Only complaint is our server left off the one special that I wanted and as soon as our food arrive I heard another server offer it to his table. Not a big deal and I could have asked if they had it before ordering. Other than that, the service and food were excellent.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
Will definitely go again
Great place great food great people my girlfriend forgot her shoes and the waiter chased us down the block to give them to us
Went for a dinner with my husband for our friend's birthday. I had been there before but they had not. Both were extremely pleased and my friend (from Boston) is bringing her family when they visit again in August. The food was fresh and delicious. The Carcioffi Alla Ricardo (fried artichokes) were delectable. The entrees we had were the Papardelle Nocello which had tasty morsels of cubed lamb in a savory ragu, the Gnocchi al Pesto - perfect little pillows of gnocchi, and the Pollo Frances which was lemony perfection in a light breading of parmesan cheese. The server was friendly, accomodating and knowledgeable. If you love wine, their wine list is excellent as well. We had the Syrah which was a perfect pairing. We will definitely be back!
Food was less than ordinary. Service was not very friendly. Would not go back.
Yes. We had a romantic dinner, Veal, Pasta, service was great, nice people.
Food was very good and presented in a timely manner. Homemade ravioli made for a nice treat. Location was simple to find and walking distance from Columbus Circle.
Service and food were excellent but room was very dark and had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu
Always enjoy our meal with the friendly and efficient staff. Food is always fresh, hot and delicious. We especially like the pasta e fagioli to start things off.
Service was rushed and distracted, with waiters looking out into the distance while taking food and wine orders. Red wine was undrinkably warm. The food itself was banal and passionless, a routine menu with predictable fare. Great location, reasonably quiet, too bad.
They brought out one wrong entree, but fixed it as soon as they could. Food was delicious, like old time Italian...
A hidden gem. the service was efficient, the menu vast with an interesting selection of Northern Italian food. Right for those of us who are getting tired of red sauce Italian food
I’ve been back a few times over a long span of time- my goto when I’m uptown. Always consistent old world charm and traditional Italian fare.
The oysters Rockefeller and watermelon salad were very flavorful and fresh.
Specials definitely a tad higher in price than a la Carte but well worth the extra few dollars. I will be back!
