Weeks before I went from Europe to NY with my two children I tried hard to book a table for lunch at 1 Knickerbocker. Options were rare on 'Open Table', but luckily there was a table on Sunday 5, 2014 at 1 pm. The day before our planned lunch I received a reminder and a request to inform them in case of a change of plans on our part. It took a very long walk in the heat, from the subway station at Knickerbockerstreet 550 to number 1. When we arrived, a sign on the door said: 'Closed for renovations, we are coming back on 13 July'. Thank you guys!

We went to mother's day brunch at this restaurant. The servers were friendly and courteous and the food was delicious. There was confusion with our drink orders with the server not quite knowing what she was serving. There was also a mix up on one of our dishes with a wrong ingredient. The mix-ups were solved rapidly and respectfully. With a little staff training, this would be a great restaurant. Ask for ice for the water, it's served from a milk bottle and not cold.

A very good surprise about the menu and the quality of the food. I went there to celebrate the birthday of my girlfriend, a very good choice. the location is a little bit far from Manhattan but they've created a very good atmosphere it worth to get there. Then a performance that was of very good quality! A very good evening, Thanks Very good cocktails too !

Knowledgeable wait staff. Delicious and innovative fare. A wonderful night out for a couple normally tied to the Burg scene. We will be back! Makes me excited to move closer this summer.

We are always interested in unusual preparations, interesting ingredient combinations, beautiful presentation. 1 Knickerbocker fit the bill, especially on the dessert front. My superb brilliantly colored dessert included frozen peas, really! Lovely knowledgable staff make for a perfect end to a long work week. Never mind the industrial neighborhood, worth a detour, go for it. Thank you 1 Knickerbocker!

Excellent food, challenging menu. Sweetbreads were perfectly prepared. If you are tired of looking at the same menu in places and want something fun and different, one Knickerbocker is the spot.

I went to 1 Knickerbocker with the hopes that it would live up to all of the recent hype. The atmosphere was pleasant enough and the menu seemed fun. We asked our waitress for recommendations, which she was unable to provide. Not a big deal..happens all of the time. I always give people the benefit of the doubt. My fiance ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a beer to start. We both noticed that her wine pour was very small (3 oz at best). We politely asked if this was a typical pour, which she assured us it was. We opted to send it back. Case closed? Nope. The manager came over with a glass filled to the brim (9-10oz) and asked sarcastically "Is this what you were expecting?" WOW. We were stunned. We ate our average food and left.

Went to 1 Knickerbocker with my wife for Valentine's Day, had cocktails, a bottle of wine, and the tasting menu. The cocktails were excellent, the wine list was remarkably reasonable in terms of prices and remarkably good in terms of quality, and the food was excellent. The live music was a nice touch as well. We were 20 feet from the stage and could hear both the band and each other. While it looked like one course might have been plated just a bit too soon, the overall service was friendly and attentive and far better than what one normally receives on one of the busiest nights of the year. While the Morgan stop on the L-train leaves a lot to be desired after dark, 1 Knickerbocker was worth the train ride and the walk.

There were so many things on the menu that looked great I will certainly go back. I tried to duck and it was fantastic. The space is beautiful and almost as charming and cool as the staff. Great all around experience.

Would go back, the food was excellent and the staff was friendly. The wine & drink menu needs to expand on their selection options.

1 Knickerbocker is both nostalgic and modern, with incredibly inventive and delicious food, temptingly presented. Our server, Lila, was charming, prompt and very well informed about the ingredients of the more unusual dishes. Once the outside has been refurbished a bit, it should become a big draw for the neighborhood and as well as foodies from all over town who like to try new adventures in dining. Looking forward to the brunch scene!

The service and ambiance were great, as were our appetizers. Our main courses, while good, could have been better.
