Lunch was tasty and generous. Chicken wrap special was enormous (could easily be shared). Chopped salad was as advertised (beets, feta, etc.), but a little small for the price. Fig, arugula, walnut pizza was large and quite cheesy; again, easy to share.

We like to dine at La Mediterranee on College, but UCLA had just beaten Cal so decided to find a venue farther from the crowd. We parked two blocks away, no problem. The evening was warm so we could have eaten outside, and we should have. The walls, ceilings, and floor reflected the loud guests, some of whom were children. My wife ordered Petrale Sole, which was perfect. Nice sized meal, great presentation, and had my mouth watering. I had the halibut and clams. It came with 3 clams. THREE. I was done with my meal and still hungry so got an arugula salad with pear, walnut, fennel. It was scrumptious. All the food was great. Our server was delightful. When we left, around 8:30 the place was hopping, with a line out the door

I go there many times during the year and this was the first time that I was disappointed - big time! We started with the fried Brussels sprouts and they were great! However, our chicken pannini's and hamburgers were dry with too much bread. The fries were great, as usual. We each ate about half of our sandwiches. Wish we had just had the Brussels sprouts and an order of fries! We did have a very nice sweet waitress.

Perfect little restaurant. My caveat is that it can be SUPER noisy - go at more "off" time. We did a Saturday at 2 and it was quite reasonable, noise-wise, as there were empty tables. We both ordered a chicken/bacon pannini that came with soup and salad; my friend ordered no bacon on her sandwich and I wanted no soup. She got bacon and I got soup - as if we could order whatever we liked, but would get what we got! The food is actually quite good and perhaps our waiter was exhausted from his earlier rush. Zut itself is charming, with outside seating -- quite nice on a warm day and the staff is always very nice.

Lovely greeting, delightful and efficient waitress. her support staff were friendly but not very competent. Brussels sprouts - decent. Mussels - very disappointing - no flavor, not rich enough broth, overcooked mussels. Little Gems Caesar - perfect as usual! Risotto - fantastic - one of the best ever. Burgers and fries - yummy. Apple crisp very tasty but needed a bit more ice cream served with it. Budino - delish. Looking fwd. to another risotto!

I had dinner twice at Zut. I enojoyed my meal. Both times I had the salmon and it was very good. Salads were also very good. All fresh and tasty. I always liked the restaurant setting since the days of the Fourth St. Grill. It colorful, warm, energetic with plenty of interesting people eating at the different tables.

We don't often find ourselves on Fourth Street, as it's so crowded, parking's hard, and dining options tend to be overpriced. But we were looking for something at the last minute and stumbled onto Zut! and were totally surprised and impressed. The fried Brussels sprouts are among the tastiest ever: our daughter went back for multiple helpings after reluctantly tasting them. The pizzas were fresh and innovative and very tasty. The burger was delicious. Basically, we came in with pretty low expectations and were blown away. We will definitely come back.

We had a lovely lunch. The food was uneven. The grilled brussels sprouts were great. The fig salad had a bit too much vinegar. The lamb meatballs were very strongly spice with a heavy spiced. The caesar salad was very good. Their bread is so yummy. We did not drink wine, so I did not look at their selections. Our waiter was charming and attentive. I noticed there were only two waiters and it is a sizable restaurant. We sat outside and could people watch. I will go there again.

Zut is a well-located little bistro, where the ambiance and service outpace the food. I had the Caprese salad and Zut burger and my companion had a pizza. The salad was ok, if a bit small and bland. The burger was ok, but a little overcooked. He seemed to like his pizza, but it looked like an average pizza. Everything was sort of average at best, in terms of food. Given how nice the place looks and the very good service, this place deserves better food from the kitchen. One last pet peeve. Why serve room temperature drinking water? Is ice really that hard to provide? Or even chilled water? It's just gross drinking nearly warm water, and hardly thirst quenching.

The menu choices for lunch were excellent; the perfect variety. Quinoa entree was wonderful such that even meat eaters ordered it. And a person on a special diet found plenty of choices. My only disappointment was our group did not want a pizza to share. I have had it before and it was delicious! I save "outstanding" ratings for "best I have ever eaten" so just because I did not give five stars, does not mean I didn't love the food or service. It was delicious and I will return to the restaurant!

We arrived a little before our reservation time, and were immediately seated. Very attentive waitress and staff. We ordered three dishes to share. When we were almost done with the second dish, the waitress asked if we still wanted to order the third dish, as she thought we might have ordered one dish more than we could finish, and she had not yet submitted that order. In fact, we were full, and did not order the third dish. We are grateful for our waitress looking out for us like this. We would definitely go back to Zut again for the food and the service.

Lively, nicely decorated place. A bit noisy for us, but otherwise OK. I enjoyed the food - a whole flounder that came with a side dish of something similar to broccolini and a roasted potato that didn't have much taste. My roasted little peppers as an appetizer were tasty. The others in our party thought the food good, but not great.

Four friends met at Zut. Waited at least 10 mins before we asked for our waiter so we could order drinks. The lovely hostess helped us. When we finally ordered, the food was very good but again no waiter to check on us, fill empty water glasses, see if anyone wanted another drink. She was disinterested, mostly absent and really impacted our overall experience.

We had a lovely night out at Zut--it's a very appealing room, with a hip vibe (albeit a little too noisy on the inside). As it was a beautiful evening, we chose to sit outdoors on the street out front. While 4th Street bustles during the day, at night it's quiet and was a great backdrop for our meal. Everything we ate was wonderful, with particularly memorable appetizers and cocktails. The service was efficient, albeit a little slow to get started and a bit rushed with the order-taking. The waitperson was very nice about serving us our own cake for a birthday guest.

We hadn't been there in a while; our previous experiences had been mixed. This time it was generally bad, except for the service. We were in the low-ceilinged space, which was very noisy with most of the tables filled. With the exception of the salads and the hamburger, the food was tasteless and overcooked, either too salty or not salty enough. And the white wine from the tap was terrible. Our waitress was attentive but the entrees came out late. All in all, very disappointing.

Cocktails are excellent here and the service is very good. The food is a bit more mixed. We ordered the rotisserie chicken because we had seen it on the spit on an earlier visit, but it turned out to be overly smoky and dry. The pardon peppers with fried cheese were wonderful, and the fried smelts were good. The lamb meatballs were flavorful, but the sauce was way too oily. We will be back for cocktails, and try more appetizers. It's a nice place, and we hope to have more consistent quality in the future.

We love Zut!! Whether we are just two or a family of 10 they treat us with care and humor and the food is delicious! The wait persons love to joke and act very professionally to make sure you are served with style and that your food is amazingly prepared and served at the proper temp. The atmosphere is festive and light and airy and everyone who is there is having a great time. The restaurant is noisy in front but the back has some booths that are quiet and that are great for kids. They have crayons and a kid menu and our 3 1/2 year old and 5 year old love it. they make amazing cocktails and super shirley temples for the kids. We really enjoy 4th street as the kids find a lot to do but it has a romantic character for couples dining.

The food was okay, not to the level I expected. Dessert was not very good, had Peach Cobbler and normally this dessert should be piping hot. It was border line luke warm and the peaches tasted like it came out of a can (not fresch, I've had better). The only good part of the dessert was the crust. Cocktails were NOT very good. We ordered two different types of cocktails and both were very disappointing. I do have to give props to our server, after mentioning to him I was not happy with my cocktail (not his fault), he removed both mine and my fiance's cocktails from our tab. I am willing to give the restaurant another try becuase of the service. NOTE: becuase of outside seating, there were flies all over the dinner table (not good).

Four of us dined at Zut this week (7/28/14) and all had different main dishes. The portions were too small, except for the hamburger plate. We also thought the selection of mains was rather limited - one beef ($34.00 is a bit high), one chicken, 2 fish, 1 sausage pasta (very small portion), and 2 vegetarian. The salmon on top of a corn salad looked lost on the plate - why not include a starch of some kind? The friend who order salmon ate my potatoes. No bread provided, which should be if the portions are that small.

Party of 6: 3 adults and 3 kids. Seated promptly at 11:45 and ordered. Did not receive food till 12:30. The restaurant was busy but not swamped, and they brought the kids' food out last (!!). Any server worth their salt should know not to make the kids wait 45 minutes for food. At ~12:15, the server told us that the food was "on its way", but it was still another 15min before the food came. Also, one of our party members told the server that she was (highly) allergic to red peppers. But guess what came in breakfast potatoes? Better care and attention to food allergies is a must. We do not plan to return.
