ZUT! On Fourthworks for usMy wife and I go to Zut regularly. The food is fresh and prepared well. From their fish dishes to their hamburgers, to their artisan pizzas, they never miss. The wait staff are consistently knowledgeable about the wine and have made good wine with food pairings a high percentage of the time. I always enjoy one their specialty cocktails to start. Can only eat here once in a while because it is very expensive. I eat food here I wouldn't normally eat (spare ribs, brussel sprouts) because I know it will taste amazing. The flavors are bold. Had to ask for bread. Not sure if I liked that or not. I think we should be served bread since the meals are so expensive but I did eat more of my meal because I didn't fill up on bread.

Everything was fairly priced and the atmosphere was spectacular. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the service, which was a bit slow. My grilled aparagus was seasoned the best I've ever had and the fish served with spinach was delicious. Only negative comment was that the side serving of roast potato was too dry. I ordered the salade nicoise with seared ahi for the first time - the salad greens weren't as nice as the rest of the composition, but overall my experience was still praiseworthy. The service is consistently attentive. Nice atmosphere here- rooms are abuzz with conversation and exude contentment from the moment you walk in. The hostess was welcoming, the waiter was efficient, but we had to ask for H2O refill. Cocktails were good. The basic ingredients were fresh, but each dish had just a little something missing. The frito misto veggies were sliced so thin you couldn't tell the butternut squash from the fennel, but the batter was light and not greasy. The lettuce, fig and pine nut salad was a nice combo, but it was overdressed. The chorizo stuffing in the squid was overprocessed almost to dog food texture, but the lemony kale under it was lovely. The blue cheese caramelized onion pizza needed something to balance the overpowering blue cheese flavor, but the thin crust was very good.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the petrale sole!Zut! always does a fine job on our great local petrale --the beautiful presentation adds to the pleasure. Lamb chops with the wild rice-spinach side were very good. Desserts are not the best but better than average, altho coffee is poorly done. Service is good, occasionally erratic, but the real draw is the dining room itself. This was the old Eccolo space and it is one of the handsomest DRs in the EBay; we're glad they kept it mostly intact.
