Diner Reviews
  • "The waiter told us about the nightly drink special that was some sort of peach/beer combination. It was absolutly delightful. We then got lots of recommendations from the waiter about rolls and they food did not disappoint. We enjoyed our night and will be back."

  • "Great outdoor atmosphere. The sushi was absolutely delicious, some of the most unique rolls I've seen in a while. All of this with timely and friendly service. Definitely recommend!"

  • "I've had great meals at Zumi Sushi in the past, but my last experience missed the mark. However, I think the server may have been very new (someone was accompanying him, presumably a trainer), so I'll cut the restaurant a bit of slack. I ordered two small plates and a bowl of brown rice as my meal, though I did not explicitly state that all of the dishes were to come out together. My companion ordered a main entree and sushi that he wanted as an appetizer. My small plates (both tempura-coated and fried) were brought out way before my rice and I pretty much had to eat them before they got cold and soggy. When my rice was finally brought out, it was room temperature. The food otherwise tasted good, but overall not a great visit."

  • "Outside dining was lovely. Service was great and very friendly to non-Nashvillians. However, the sushi (both rolls and Nigiri) was lacking authenticity. The sake was good and cold."

  • "Sushi was great! Great gluten-free menu. Just please wish they didn't allow dogs on patio. Couple sat next to us with large dog that would not sit down, had tail bouncing off my friend's chair the whole time. "

  • "We love this restaurant. It's quick if you want it to be or you can sit there and talk for an hour while you enjoy your food. The vibe Is laid back. Sometimes we hit Zumi post yoga and we feel comfortable in our workout clothes or sometimes after a long day at work and it always fits the bill. The service team is attentive and friendly. Great neighborhood sushi place."

  • "This is a great spot, especially for pre or post Belcourt dining. The service is good as is the food. I had the crunchy shrimp roll last time and enjoyed it."

  • "My wife and I went here for Valentines. I was shocked that they had so many open slots available on Open Table. This turned out to be because they don't manage reservations very well. We were offered a seat on the porch right behind the hostess stand. After escalating to a manager, they gave us a nice seat inside. Didn't appreciate the drama. On Valentines day. With that said, the food was creative, appealing and tasty. Try the fried Avocado appetizer. We loved it."

  • "I didn't expect it to be over the top but I did expect it to be good. My wife did get a nice sized bowl of Miso to start with. Restaurant served earl grey tea, a little weird, but hey can I get more than a single coffee cup's worth to drink with the meal? Rice texture was mediocre and no flavor. No grades of tuna or other fish available, just "tuna", and not very often when I'm having sushi do I get the instinct of "wow.needs salt". The spicy tuna, blah, I've had spicier mayonnaise. Turn it up a notch guys, even the yellowtail jalapeno appetizer needs to pick it up. Get the rice to have some flavor, and turn up the flavor, get better grades of fish. I didn't finish most of what I ordered because of the texture and the severe lack of flavor."

  • "We booked a reservation at 5:45, arrived at 5:40 and were seated. Our waitresses seemed confused and did not stop by our table often. We placed an order and after 45 mins, we still had not received our orders. Yet, several people who had come in after us received their orders much sooner. This was not my first poor encounter with service here. The food is good but the service may not be worth it."

  • "This is one of my go-to's for bring out of town guest to hang out. My wife and I take our friends and families here before the Sounds game or Vandy games. They have some special rolls that are awesome for the Sushi-die-hard and regular/"Safe" rolls for folks who are just trying sushi for the first time. I had their Pad Thai noodle bowl along with a regular crunchy shrimp roll and it was awesome."

  • "I made a reservation for 13 at Zumi Sushi for a post-graduation lunch with my loud Nicaraguan family. Not only did Zumi Sushi accept that large of a reservation (many places wouldn't), but they were also really nice and accommodating when another family member showed up at the last minute. The food was fantastic, even the kids liked it. I really can't stress how good the service was (did I mention the loud Nicaraguan family? that poor server). 10/10 would dine again."

  • "We started with a few rolls, which were warmer in temp than they should have been. The Pacific Queen was pretty good and the White dragon was okay. I never had escarpone (sp?). The rolls were were okay. We eat a lot of sushi. You can get get better and more affordable sushi at Sake in Cool Springs. Had Pad Thai and red curry dish for main courses. Pad Thai was a bit dry, but curry dish was great. Might go back again. Good to try once."

  • "Not sure how I hadn't been to this place as I absolutely love sushi. Before this we have had some pretty mediocre sushi in Nashville, including at the quite overpriced Virago. Prior to coming here our other favorite spot had been Ichiban down on 2nd but Zumi had better prices, a larger special roll selection, and better appetizer choices. Gotta love the ahi tuna appetizer which comes with a solid amount of ahi plus instead of wasting space below with some lettuce they fill it with seaweed salad, in essence this is 2 great appetizers for the price of 1. I had the tropical crunch and starburst rolls, both of which were awesome and I recommend. Zumi is now definitely going to be my go-to sushi in Nashville."

  • "The perfect casual sushi spot. The vibe is relaxed and the food is delicious. The food comes quickly and the prices are relatively cheap! I would recommend for a casual dinner with girlfriends or a meal before heading over to Belcourt!"

  • "We enjoyed ourselves. The food was good and our server was great. The only thing I can say against the place is about the host. We arrived a little early for our reservation and there were tables inside large enough for our party but she told us we would have to wait 10-15 minutes on a table inside or we could sit outside (it was very cold). We ended up waiting 15 minutes for a table to clear when we could've been seated immediately because there were tables available for our party size. Subsequently, those tables sat empty the entire time we were there."

  • "I recently came to eat dinner for my birthday ( 9/20/2012) . It was my first time at Zumi's as well as the first for many of the guests who came with me. I reserved the dining online, and to much surprise, my table was set up for me. It was really cute. I appreciate not having to wait for my table. The service was excellent. The ambiance of the resturant was lovely and the sushi was tasty and not expensive. Thumbs up to the attentive server as well!"
