Z'Tejas San AntonioMother's Day SupperUnlike the rest of the world that fed their mothers pancakes and mimosas Sunday morning, we chose to take our mother and grandmother out for an evening meal. The waitstaff was truly spectacular - going above and beyond to make the evening extraordinary, complete with lemon chiffon cake for the VIPs at our table. Our table felt like it was the most important one in the room, and all members of the party remarked that the evening was special and most enjoyable. She was new, but if she didn't have the answer to a question, she checked and let us know quickly. Special orders (kid that doesn't want pesto on his chicken friend chicken!) were happily accommodated, and the food was FANTASTIC! It's not a place you want to go if you have big eaters as the portions weren't king-sized. They were just so that we weren't waddling out and everyone was very satisfied with taste, temperature and presentation of their chosen menu items. There was a lot of variety in the menu, & everyone was able to find something that suited their taste and mood. It was new, not just the same food microwaved.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Cornbread!My husband and I used to travel 60 miles to Austin to eat at the original Z'Tejas, so we were thrilled when they opened a restaurant in San Antonio. The restaurant has great outdoor seating and all the staff are nice and smiling and helpful. The chicken Chile Relleno is AMAZING and so is the cornbread! Watch out for the salsa - it can be spicy!!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNo reservationWe had 8:00 dinner reservations and when we arrived, we were informed they did not have our reservation through Open Table. I pulled up the reservation on my iPhone and she explained that they do not always get the reservations through Open Table.
After a couple of minutes, they were able to seat us to the rear area near the kitchen where there were several open tables. Once seated, our order was taken. Service was very good and the food was great. It was prom night for some high schools so it started getting busier in our area before we were finished eating. This may have been the reason for so many open tables when we went back initially:

We have been very pleased with our food choices both times. My favorite item on the menu is the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad. My husband loves the chicken fried rib-eye.
