Food really good but service was a let-down, considering restaurant wasn't that busy. Had to ask waitress for water. She brought the check while I was still eating my meal (we didn't ask for it) and didn't offer us dessert. Felt rushed.

  • Awesome Birthday date

    Dined on 5/16/2014
I brought my girlfriend for her Birthday dinner. The facility is super clean and very large. We enjoyed the drink and beer menu and we shared a starter and entree. They cut the entree into two portions and the plate presentation was great. Loved the food...

Table was ready when we arrived. Waiter came over promptly and took our drink order. He didn't ask what kind of muffin we wanted with our breakfasts. We had to remind and tell him what we wanted. Three of us had eggs and meat. All three of us had to send our meals back because our potatoes weren't even warm! My daughter had pancakes, she didn't and neither did the other 3 of us get the fruit that was to come with our breakfasts. There were several web sites that stated Mom's ate FREE. We had to contact the manager and there was a dispute over this, but 2 of our meals were taken off. The pancakes were on the menu for $7.95 but we were charged $11.95. Again we had to clarify this. I won't go there again for breakfast!

  • Mothers day brunch
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013
    Dined on 5/11/2014
I read their brunch menu on line before we chose it for Mothers day. Once we arrived they told us that the menu posted on line was not the real brunch menu. It was condensed to about 1/4 the online version. Then on line it also stated that mothers ate for free. Once we were there they told us it was a miss print but they did honor it. The food and the waitress was wonderful. Not very happy with the discrepancies. They did have $4 mimosas which made us very happy.

I needed a not noisy spot for a table of 6. I chose Z Tejas because it would be quieter than other restaurants in the area and would have a round table which is best for groups. We hadn't seen these guests for a number of years and knew we would want to chat all together. My father is hard of hearing and a lot of background noise is hard for him. It was a perfect solution. We had a lovely time. I have chosen Z Taejas in the past and will again in the future.

well I went having a special occasion ahead of me (proposing to my now fiance) and eveything started off ok. then the server disappeared because there was a slew of kids at prom on some big tables. I get helping out your fellow servers, but dont forget about the people that were already eating. it took us 20 mins and me finding the manager to get our check.

We made our reservations on line through Open Table, then increased the party size to 8 on line. It was so convenient. When we arrived the table was ready for us. We had a fabulous meal and the staff was attentive, but not hovering. If we needed something they were right there. We lingered for a while after the meal and were not rushed by the staff to leave. We are already talking about coming back again.

I was very disappointed with the food. My chicken burrito was not good at all. The chicken wasn't cooked well and it was filled with more onions and tomatoes than anything. My husband was disappointed with his salmon. He said it was a very little portion and the flavor wasn't great. Definitely not worth the price we paid. We will not be returning.

Normally we do not celebrate Valentine's Day on Valentine's Day because of the crowds and the inability to get into anywhere to eat. This year we gambled. I made reservation for Valentines Day for a time that worked best for us and we made it in and were seated with in seconds of entering the restaurant. It was so great to have a stress free and hassle free night. Our server was fantastic. We were seated in a spot that was just perfect for a romantic dinner. The food was divine. It was a fantastic experience that made my entire night.

Dollar for dollar, the best food I have had in a long time. Excellent at a low price. Only complaint was the dessert was bland, cheesecake clearly not made in house. Of course, we didn't expect a great dessert at a southwestern restaurant.

Z'Tejas is one of our favorite restaurants. This past Saturday, however, we took all of our children and their spouses there for dinner and was, of course, expecting it to be exceptional, like it always is. I ordered one of my favorites, the Chorizo Stuffed Pork Loin, unfortunately, the recipe has been changed, and I was not impressed. The sauce was just okay, but the pork itself was overdone and quite dry. The garlic mashed potatoes had been replaced by sweet potatoes which would have been okay, but the sweet potatoes were still crunchy and not nearly done enough. The restaurant was quite busy, but we had a hard time getting our waiter to pay much attention to us - we never did get the extra chips that we had requested.

Because we dined on a concert night, we thankfully made a reservation on Open Table. It saved us!! We were seated right at our reservation time. The menu is great. There is something for everyone, even the picky eaters. While our server was terrific, the bar service was painfully slow. We had to ask for our drinks multiple times. The second round came as we were leaving.

We had been frequent guests until recently and realized we have missed this place. We need to visit more and would recommend it to anyone. I know it sounds funny, but you have to try the Macaroni and Cheese and the Tableside Guacamole. They are both fantastic and they have other great pastas and salads.

Using the reservation we made with OpenTable, our table was ready for us immediately upon our arrival, which was great on the very busy New Year's Eve. We ate there on New Years Eve 2013 with a group of 8 adults. Our waiter was very attentive and did a great job. The free fresh cornbread they bring out is good and they refilled our bottomless chips a few times. We ordered the Five Cheese Mac and Anchiote chicken for $15.50. It is over priced and the chicken was dry, over cooked and too hard to cut through. We also ordered the Pepita Crusted Chicken for the same price. It was much better and the chicken was very moist and flavorful. It does not come with anything else on the side. We have been several times and enjoy the ambiance and flavor of this Tex-Mex restaurant. It is close to the heart of downtown SLC and the Trax train stops right in front and is free to ride throughout downtown.

Instead of asking "are you finished" the waiter and bus staff just take food and drinks off your table. A bit awkward when I was only 1/2 way done with my drink that cost $8.00... I would have liked to finish the expensive drink before it was wished off my table...

Visited specifically to try items from the limited time Green Chili menu. The onion rings were great! as was the Fish dish. However, my all-time favorite dish prepared with any type of chili that I've had at Z-Tejas is the chili stuffed with duck. That chili dish should become a permanent item on the menu. Love the happy hour appetizers too.

We arrived shortly after the lunch crowd and admitted that instead of the 8 I booked there might be up to 20. She beamed and asked for a moment to set the table. By the time we were through meeting each other, the table was ready. We ended up with 18 or 19 with separate checks and within an hour had the place to ourselves and we were loud and rowdy and had a great time. We were every waiter's nightmare: few appetizers, no alcoholic drinks... but Andy treated us like we were a dream come true. He was so sweet, so helpful and the food was wonderful. Andy stood there with everyone's cameras and took a bunch of photos of us. The rest of the staff were incredible too. They are open mid-afternoon weekdays and WOW! But worth a wait too.

I enjoyed my experience. The gluten free menu gave me options I didn't know I could have, which really tended to my needs. However, I do wish you had more fit friendly foods. Lower Calorie or lower Carb that really meets needs, not just a menu that says under 550, any meal in that portion for a female is too much. I would love to see meals in a lower calorie range! Also, maybe a sodium count on foods.... Or even just foods that are sodium friendly. it is hard for people with kidney disease to eat high sodium meals and I feel the community will really come to your restaurant because you tend to this need, it will make you different on the market. No complaints here, just suggestions :) thank you!

My mom usually loves Z'tejas (especially their margaritas) so we chose this for mother's day brunch. Service was slow, waiter messed up a couple of our orders and charged us incorrectly at the end. It wasn't any busier than a Friday or Saturday night so not sure what the problem was. I'd give it one more try since I usually like this restaurant...but overall this visit was very mediocre and I was disappointed since it was to celebrate my mom.
