  • "Food was excellent and the menu is broad enough to let you try different entrees each time you come here."

  • "WE HAD FRIENDS IN FROM UTAH. WE HAD NEVER BEEN BUT IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY A FRIEND. WE ALL THROUGHLY ENJOYED IT.SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD TOO."

  • "I've been to two different Z'Tejas locations closer to downtown Austin and have always enjoyed the food. I don't think I've been there for dinner before (usually business lunches) and, as it was our anniversary, and we were looking for a new experience closer to home, we tried the Avery Ranch location. We were VERY happy we did! I like to use OpenTable for reservations so I did so and mentioned that it was our anniversary and if we could get a more quiet table, etc.. I'm never sure how closely the staff pays attention to those comments, but I think I can confidently say that they do now! The staff was FANTASTIC and the food was delicious. MAJOR kudos to the manager who helped make our night one we won't forget!"

  • "Great spot for a business lunch. Good salads, fish tacos, and other light lunch options."

  • "Daily special Roast Pork was superb! Guacamole was fresh and tasty. Friday. Isn't was noisy but not overbearing. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal."

  • "Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. It was wonderful to be able to make reservations via internet. The service couldn't have been better from our hostess' welcome to our friendly, courteous and professional waitress. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time, everything was hot, and absolutely delicious. We shall return! Thank you for a great lunch!"

  • "Good quality food but hectic inconsistent service during a rushed brunch time on Sunday."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "Although would have preferred more intimate space for our anniversary celebration, the food and service were impeccable. Menu has some standard fare but most has unique touch. Both our stuffed pork tenderloin and seafood enchiladas were scrumptious."
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "A comfortable place to dine; wonderful corn bread. The chips and dips were delicious. The restaurant has a good friendly surrounding. The service was great!"

  • "Z Tejas has been one of our favorite places for celebrating family events. Food is excellent and the staff attentive. We will be going back"

  • "Me and my friends were having to yell at each other to communicate. Good good and service, though."

  • "Z seems to be losing its touch when it comes to food quality. Queso is extremely salty and it has really come down in my list from its original high rank. Their house corn bread is dry and not such a treat any more. The smothered burrito was anything but smothered. The extremely dry and hard tortilla made this dish unenjoyable. The drinks are Awesome!! Love their Patron Margarita. The chicken Poblano soup was really good. Next time I will go just for drinks, and have dinner somewhere else."

  • "My wife and I really enjoy this place. It has excellent food and good service. The only issue we had this time was that it was just really noisy and hard to hear each other speak. Still recommend it, though"

  • "Visited on a Sat night. Very crowded. But the food and service was very good. Our waiter was very friendly and outgoing. Did an excellent job. Only negative was the noise. This like so many Austin restaurants, they have the open high ceiling warehouse architecture with no sound absorbing material so the noise just bounces off the walls and ceiling. When you have a full house, its noisy. Still a great restaurant."

  • "Four friends and I, some of us with dietary restrictions, enjoyed a 2-hour brunch, never felt rushed, and had a great time. Our server did spill some bloody Mary on one of our parties' pants, but life went on and he did a great job otherwise. The food, while not inspired, original cuisine, was still very good and we'll definitely return."

  • "Z'Tejas is a great all around restaurant with great food and great service. Really nice décor! We had a great time on Valentine's Day!"

  • "In terms of value, Z-Tejas can't be beat. The food is always very good, the menu selection is great, and the staff is very friendly. The also have a great happy hour. I always feel that I get my money's worth, and then some."

  • "My date and I enjoyed the atmosphere, the waitress was super nice and helpful. Our food was perfect. I will be visiting this place a little more often. ."

  • "Over booked, no parking. Late being seated. We normally love this restaurant but on Valentine, quality was sacrificed."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Our Valentine's reservations fell short. When we arrived we waited in a long line to check in for our 7:30 reservations. Then we were handed a pager and we were told they are running 15 minutes late. It was after 8 that we were seated and it was 8:18 that we finally ordered. We had plans after dinner that we were then late for. A little disappointing since this is one of our favs! I wanted the night to be special for me and my husband since I had just driven two hours to meet him for dinner, so I didn't complain at the restaurant. Sometimes that can really kill the mood. But you asked."

  • "Food is always good. Just wish it wasn't so noisy there."

  • "Excellent food with a TexMex flavor and lots of choices. The cornbread is delicious. Service was efficient and timely, using a team approach. Our primary server was good but not overly friendly. Nice ambiance. Definitely recommend it for lunch. Good offering of cocktails (many margaritas) and early happy hour prices at 3pm."

  • "One of my "go to" restaurant in north west austin. Service is always great. Tonight, Rachel did a wonderful job. Thanks."

  • "Been there 3 or 4 times now since moving here last fall; great food, friendly service and a very nice place. It can get a little loud on a Saturday night, but unless you need to dine in silence it's a great place."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "We very much enjoyed the ambience and the service was great. The cornbread was fantastic!! My street tacos with sirloin strips was very good but my husband's skillet scallops were not seasoned at all. We will probably try Z'Tejas again and try different items from the menu because we liked the atmosphere and the service was so good."

  • "My family and I have been living in the area for over 2 years, and I drive by ZTejas every day on the way to work. My wife and I wanted to have a date night so I suggested this place since we have been driving by it for a couple years. Couple of surprises on this one. I had thought it was going to be a loud music sit down night clubish sort of restaurant. I thought it was going to be overly expensive...it was either of what we thought. The food was really good, my wife had the enchiladas and I had the stuffed pork which the waiter suggested. We will come back with the family for sure...good food, great service, reasonable cost."

  • "So many choices. Our party ordered something different and it was all terrific."

  • "They have no issues taking a reservation but when you show up you still have to wait. My 7:45pm reservation had me seated at 8:20pm. Then no wait staff came for another 15 min. Was able to put in drink and food order. Food came fast but was hot on appearance and cold in the middle as if it was microwaved. Will never suggest Z'Tejas at all regardless of location."

  • "Today we had a group of 8 of us for lunch, we really only had an hour to be in, out and back to the office (10 mins away). Service was very efficient and friendly, food came out great - hot and fresh and we were paying our bill within 45 minutes. Great job Z'Tejas."

  • "We chose Ztejas because we enjoy their menu...had some happy hour drinks, appetizers and then our meal! Unfortunately my favorite, chicken crusted salad was not as good as we all remembered it! Somehow the dressing now has some spice in it. Took my leftovers home and used my own raspberry dressing. We all (5 of us) enjoyed my birthday cake at the end of our meal. But all in all we had a good tme and we were able to talk to each other since the noise level there isn't as bad as other restaurants. Looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "As you would expect on New Years Eve, the restaurant and bar were packed. We were seated within a reasonable amount of time after checking in for our reservation. Service was great! Despite being that busy, wait person was timely and food was too! Glad we decided to go local at the last minute!"

  • "Made a reservation and we arrived nearly 25 minutes early, and checked in. I was told sarcastically that my table would be ready at my reservation time. I observed several walk-in couples, be seated within 10 minutes, but there we sat waiting for our time. Strike 1. We were shown to a nice seat, and given menus. I ordered the Chili Rellenos and my fiance ordered the Grilled Ruby Trout Salad off of the Entree Salad menu. Her salad was flavorless and spread out over the plate to cover it, but no depth. The trout was dry and crumbled. Strike 2. My Rellenos were filled with a unidentifiable chicken and cheese like paste. No other place to go on New Years Eve and hungry, so I did what I could. But my girl couldn't force it. Strike 3."

  • "Waiter forgot our salads.... made up for it by giving us two desserts for 8 people free. Food was good but luke warm when arrived. Trying to have a conversation with anyone beyond the person next to you or across from you is impossible due to the high level of noise. Z'Tejas has been around for a long time in Austin. They've got the food down. It is perfected. They haven't seem to be able to manage the ambiance and volume of people to provide a first class venue though at this location."
