  • "As usual, Z'Tejas hits all the marks. Food, location, prices. What's not to like."

  • "Just a great place with superb food and a electric and eclectic vib! Unique to Austin. Not duplicated anywhere else! Fabulous!"

  • "We had Sunday brunch: great food and service with a fun atmosphere. Will definitely return. Also sporeciated that we could make reservations online so there was no long wait for a table."

  • "I didn't know how simple and efficient the valet parking at Z'Tejas is. This fine Austin spot is so easy to get to, and I had thought of it as just too much trouble Not so. I handed the car off to valet parking, and we settled at a reasonably peaceful table with a white wine sangria and a couple of apps before dinner - good fish and good chile relleno. A perfect early supper spot before an event at the Long Center. Tip the valet parking team well!"

  • "All around solid dining experience. Ive been to this location a handful of times and have consistently enjoyed the experience. I HIGHLY recommend the mushroom enchiladas! (This time I had the fish Tacos and they were "so-so".) The service staff is always professional, energetic, and prompt. Joy, our waitress on our most recent trip, did a phenomenal job! Keep up the good work!"

  • "Always love the food there! Been going there for many years!"

  • "It seems that things have changed at Z Tejas over the last few years. i formerly took all my foodie friends there ...alas, our dinner food quality was such that I will not return..my sea bass was thin, cold...my friend's fajitas were also barely warm. We were seated near a swinging door that put one of my friends at risk of being banged in the elbow. Noise level very high..So sorry about this decline in a formerly great place !"

  • "this is the type of place that has old Austin feel, small neighborhood place, walk to...charming and hope it always stays and doesn't get mowed down by new development. We have enough new."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Great place for Sunday Brunch. Extensive menu that includes breakfast and lunch dishes and not a buffet, which we don't like. We took our 20 year old grandson and his friend, so it is a good place for all ages. We never tire of Z-Tejas."

  • "The food was fabulous as always. The muffins were over the top. Loved the do-it-yourself drink bar. But we were disappointed that we were too full for Ancho fudge pie!!"

  • "An Austin stalwart, Z'tejas is reliable and tasty. Perhaps not as inventive as it once was, and several favorite items (fried oysters, blackened catfish enchiladas) are gone, but a great place for an al fresco dinner with southwestern flair. Inside can be very loud."

  • "Had a fabulous time as this normally hopping place was surprisingly uncrowded on a weeknight during SXSW, so we had a leisurely meal over 2 hours from cocktails to dessert on their comfortable front deck. The food was great and the ambiance sublime."

  • "My wife and I had a rare evening without the kids and drove into Austin for dinner. We had not been to ZTejas for several years since we no longer live in Austin. The manager and employees were all smiling and upbeat, and the restaurant was obviously well run. The food was incredible, the service was great, and we really enjoyed our experience. After dinner we walked across to the other bar area and listened to an acoustic set while we had a cocktail. The ambiance was great and we really enjoyed our evening. My wife and I are going to make ZTejas our destination for future date nights. If you want 5 star dining at 2 star prices then you cannot do better than ZTejas."

  • "had a client lunch at z'tejas and it was great. terrific food and service - great ambiance. the parking is a real pain though so go earlier than noon to get a spot."

  • "My friends had all told me that they liked this place but I was disappointed. The food was okay but I didn't really enjoy it. My friend's chicken tasted burnt. It wasn't worth spending my birthday there at all. Cute place but the food was below average and not worth what I paid."

  • "Enjoyed a nice meal Sunday night inside. We love the openness to the restaurant that allows the breeze to flow through. The food was great! Had the Diablo Pasta and Catfish Tacos (favorites)!"

  • "We recently took some out of town guests to Z Tejas for an early Friday night dinner. One of our guests requires a strict gluten free diet. The menu has a wide selection of gluten free choices and the staff went out of their way to make sure our guest was comfortable that her requirements could be met. The food was very, very good whether it was gluten free or off the regular menu. Our guests were impressed, we all had a great meal and I am sure when they are in town again we will find our way back for another great meal."

  • "I ordered the Mushroom Enchiladas and they were simply delicious. I'm not one to usually order vegetarian dishes, but I would definitely order it again if I were to come back. Z'Tejas had a nice ambiance as well. Ideal place if your party likes TexMex. Awesome cornbread, too!"

  • "Did not expect to have such a great time there. Excellent prices and wonderful food. Valet was terrible, but overall, great experience. Will dine again."

  • "Z is a favorite of ours. The food is consistently good and there are several menu items that bring us back regularly. The Happy Hour specials for drinks and appetizers are very appealing for an early evening out. The herb crusted pork chops special for Valentine's Day were excellent! Service is usually better than we experienced at our last visit. Our waiter was distracted and forgetful, but friendly when he did appear."

  • "Be ready to wait--either standing at a very crowded bar or outside--even if you have a reservation. This is not intimate and romantic but noisy and filled with college students/young people. Food was adequate. I might recommend, but probably for younger folks."

  • "Selected this spot to meet an old friend that we had communicated with, but not seen in a long, long time. Staff was friendly and courteous. Directed us to a good table overlooking the lower floor which was perfect for conversation. Server knew the menu inside and out. Food was served with style, we were unhurried and it was a fine evening."

  • "Had a great dinner at Z'Tejas. Relaxed atmosphere, prices are VERY reasonable and good specials every night. Great wait staff. It was winter but looking forward to going when it gets warmer and the outdoor patios are open"

  • "Enjoyed the Catfish Beignets which are always a standout. My partners in crime enjoyed the chocolate ancho chilie pie. Forgot I don't care for the Chicken Tortilla soup here, too thick for my tastes but another of my party eat every drop. Generally can't miss here."

  • "Absolutely wonderful Tex-Mex style brunch ordered off the menu - so no buffet tables with aging food. Everything is very fresh and delicious. Whatever you choose you will enjoy a plate with a generously large muffin and a small cup of fruit while you are waiting for your meal. The banana muffins are especially amazing. Z Tejas also has a selection of really refreshing and unique non-alcoholic drinks. You will love this place - and it is the perfect hot spot. Downside - always noisy and crowded with parking challenges."

  • "Z'tejas is an institution but it is an institution with bad food. Good service, nice enough place. The big question is how hard ia it to make migas?"

  • "First time visiting Austin, a colleague told us it was one of her favorites so we tried it out. It was a group of 5 and the waitress was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The hostess even called us at cab at the end of dinner. P.S. The burger was fabulous and the 1/2 Bottle of Wine for Happy Hour!"

  • "I know it's boring, but seriously, try the Southwestern chicken caesar salad. It'll knock your socks off. Oh, and the three by three with the queso and guacamole? To die for!"

  • "Took my grandparents here for dinner on an early Saturday evening. The place was packed. Luckily I made a reservation. Service was great and they were very accommodating whenever we added a few people to our table. Food was good but nothing that knocked my socks off. Some of the food could have used a little more seasoning. Drinks were very stout and delicious. Will be back with other out-of-towners but it won't be a regular spot of mine."

  • "Love coming here when we are in Austin - this is our go-to place for business lunches and we enjoy food that is different from what we have in our area. Excellent service - attentive and prompt without being rushed. Get the lunch specials and highly recommend the cornbread! Yum!"

  • "When we set up the reservations, we requested wheelchair accessible seating. The girl up front was helpful with the operation of the elevator but not so much on the seating arrangement(5 Al-together). Our son is in a power wheelchair which is needed due to his level of injury. There was no way that all us us could have sat at a 4 person table with him on one side of the table. So we moved the table next to us with the help of a bus person. It seems that we were an inconvenience to the girl(did not get her name). Our son was at the end of the table with plenty of room. Also when we were ordering drinks the waiter had no knowledge of the drinks that we were ordering including beer. Said he did not know that they served Michelob Ultra."

  • "Love coming here because of the food, location, service, and ambiance. Plus it's actually a great value. Only downside to this visit was valet parking. We arrived shortly after 5 and no valet arrived to park our car. We parked ourselves. When the valet guy appeared he took our keys and gave us a ticket but never apologized. Upon leaving we had to wait a bit to get our vehicle."

  • "We went before a concert and had no trouble getting a reservation same day. We shared the dumplings/potstickers appetizer, which are served in a hot black skillet. They were different than your standard Asian restaurant, but terrific. We each got one of the daily specials. I had a steak with a brown grilled onion sauce and blue cheese crumbles. It was cooked perfectly to my preference and tasted great. It came with grilled asparagus (some of the best I've had) and plain but good mashed potatoes. She had stuffed chicken with crab and shrimp and a spicy cream sauce, which was also tasty. We wound up sharing parts of our meals - but that was the plan, and both were excellent. Only complaint: it was cold where we were seated."

  • "Enjoyed a birthday lunch for my friend; just the two of us. We appreciated her complimentary dessert. The restaurant became loud with the lunch crowd. It was a cold day and they were out of tea bags! Overall a nice experience. Would recommend."
