  • "Go with a group and make a meal of the small plates you won't regret it!"

  • "Service was exceptional as was the food. Not as noisy as people told us it would be, and our experience was very satisfying in every way."

  • "Heard about this place and was NOT disappointed! Food was great and our server was very good. i would come back any time!"

  • "I had a great experience my first time at Zola Bistro with the selection of small plates we ordered. However, this time I ordered the Cavolo Nero and it tasted like raw kale and wet noodles. Clearly it was missing an essential ingredient or two such as garlic and spices. I remarked to my waitress this was the case and she tried to doctor it with parmesan cheese, brought me more kale that again was missing essential pesto ingredients and then when I told her it was still missing flavor said the reason was a new prep cook."

  • "Entrees delivered at different times and kids were served last. I have been to Zola many times and have not been to the downtown location for dinner in years. I can say it was the worst meal I have ever had there. I hope it was a one off experience but I will not return anytime soon to find out. Stick to this place as a solid brunch choice."

  • "We went to Zola Bistro at 3:30 (made a reservation for a family birthday gathering) on a Sunday and was told there were not serving any egg dishes. Being told of menu issues when I made my reservation would have prompted a differenct decision. I have enjoyed dinners there in the past but this Sunday afternoon experience was just so-so"

  • "Food was good and service was excellent. Our group really enjoyed our brunch but was disappointed that our table was right by the enter/exit door. This made it difficult to converse with people going in and out the door constantly."

  • "This was a perfect place to go for a date, just a casual meal, or bring a group. The food was delicious. My girlfriend even made a comment that it the orange juice and caprese salad were amazing. It was a perfect way to start our date."

  • "I went with my family, and we tend to have a good time wherever we go, so even if the service had been bad we probably still would have a good time. Either way, the service was good, our server was patient, which I think is necessary for a fam of 8 and the food was really good. I'm under 21 so I can't day much for the alcoholic beverages. The ambience of the place was pretty nice, not too stuffy, but still classy. I would come back with friends."

  • "It was nice to try out this relatively new spot that's not right downtown. Because of the free and relatively easy to find parking, would come back with another group. Waitstaff was great....very organized. Liked the range of food and everyone in our six-person group said their food was great."

  • "I had a great meal here, eating only small plates. There were a lot more I wanted to try. I was in Ann Arbor for the weekend, and found this place on OpenTable. I was not disappointed. Even a changing glitch on my credit card was handled well after my return home."

  • "Made reservations for lunch after my daughter's high school graduation. Although we were about 10 minutes early and the place was packed, we were seated fairly quickly. We were also approached by our waitperson very quickly. The orders were taken and we did not have to wait too long for our food. Food was very good. We will definitely be back! Thanks."

  • "Zola Bistro is AMAZING! The restaurant is always impressive on all counts. The food is so delicious being mostly organic and local. Prepared from scratch is everything on the menu. There are wonderful healthy choices and not so healthy choices but they are all great. Fabulous drinks also made from scratch. No bottled or canned mixes are used. The servers are tested on everything and definitely know their stuff. Try it! You will not be sorry...it is wonderful and a great experience."

  • "We had the most incredible brunch here with our 3yo and 8mo. Our 3yo ate waffles, my spouse had crepes, and I had an omelette, but we shared tastes with each other. All were prepared to perfection. The waffles were the best we've ever had. The staff was accommodating of children, and the ambiance was loud enough for us to feel comfortable with happy child sounds but not so loud that we couldn't talk to each other. Thanks for a great meal!"

  • "My daughter and I dined at Zola Bistro my last night in Ann Arbor. We had a great waitress who was personable, knew the menu, and was attentive. My daughter had the oysters and the fish taco while I had the Branzini special. The fish was excellent as was the asparagus salad. I did not care for the side of rice but the grilled vegetables were a nice addition. I would return!"

  • "I was so excited to find a second location - I had wanted to take my parents to the downtown location for a belated Mothers Day brunch, but they were full. Our experience at Zola Bistro was all I could have asked for. The food was delicious, the coffee and breakfast cocktails were awesome, the staff was lovely, and it was quiet enough to talk easily. I will definitely be going back!"

  • "Zolas is very loud and it's difficult carry on a conversation and hear even at a table for two, the table next to us was so close that I'm sure they were in on our conversation. My food at brunch was terrible, I had a raisin bagel that was like rubber...it had the texture a frozen bagel gets from being defrosted and heated in the microwave. I couldn't eat it. I didnt order tea because of the price...come on get real, just get some tea bags! Everything on the brunch menu was rediculously overpriced...after all eggs are $1.09 a dozen, so how can an average omlet be $13.95? The chairs aren't that comfortable and I can't even hang my purse on the back of the chair. My friend ordered the crepes which were undercooked"

  • "We went for brunch on a sunday. The restaurant was full which was expected but the noise level was unexpected high, verging on loud, probably due to all the hard surface decor. The food was very good, probably one of the best monte cristo sandwiches i've had and the suggestion of bacon was the perfect addition to the sandwich. They were out of all baked goods which was not told to us until after we had ordered. Service overall was just okay, she was nice, but not overly attentive and there was a little to much pressure to upgrade on most aspects of our meal, which i would expect more from a restaurant like this. The restaurant itself was comfortable, modern and clean. So overall great food and a great menu but i needed more to bring me back"

  • "I love this restaurant and enjoy taking new people there. However, I'll avoid it in the future when they are busy. The restaurant was jammed, the hostess was overwhelmed and short with us, the waitress was overwhelmed and the substitution they made on my meal due to running out of turkey was horrible. We had a reservation through open table, but we still waited with the crowd for our table. Not a great experience."

  • "Very very slow!! And very loud. Food was good but very expensive for what you get...not much. "

  • "Noise level unacceptable: not possible to hear guests at our own table. "
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "While the decor and the staff look "trendy," Zola is nothing special. The tables are packed together and the noise level is way too high to have a decent conversation. The menu is a short, typical bistro menu. With so many other options in Ann Arbor, I'm not planning on coming back here."

  • "8 of us went for lunch the other day. We had a very good time. Service was excellent. The food was very good. It was extremely appealing to the eye. The taste matched its eye appeal. Everything was very fresh tasting. We have enjoyed dining at Zola's several times before and this time was as successful as the previous ones. "

  • "I like Cafe Zola, so I knew I would like Zola Bistro. Food is great. However, last two times I have been there, even with reservations, we still had to wait up to 25 minutes to get seated. So I am not sure how the front of the house is being run. Also, the tables are so close together that you will probably hear as much of their conversation as you do yours. It's loud in there. So it's a fun place, but takes a lot of patience."

  • "We admittedly went during a busy time which may have affected our experience but should by no means be an excuse. The food was very good but came out cold. There was no wait and we were seated right on time per our reservation. But we were 5 put at a table for 4 and right by the hostess stand. It took forever to get our food - over an hour..basically eggs which came out cold. The waiter was very nice but seemed a bit overwhelmed as did everyone in the restaurant. We had to ask 3 people to get regular milk for our coffee. The restaurant itself is very inviting, but we'd probably go somewhere else next time."

  • "Too many tables making it rather noisy if you are looking for a relaxing meal but food has never let me down. Fabulous meal every time I've gone!"

  • "First time here and we had a great time. Very busy night, we had reservations and were seated quickly. Service was great and the food was amazing. Also like their wine menu and list. Would like to see them have more wines by the glass. Don't miss out on a great place to eat."
    Dined on 4/25/2014
  • "Wait staff is nice but on the inattentive side. Did not bring serving implements or dishes, and did not look to see if dishes needed to be changed after used for several saucy dishes. Seemed understaffed, not fully trained. (This, my experience on four successive outings.)"
    Dined on 4/24/2014
  • "The menu appears to be a faithful translation of the downtown version; both of our dishes (artichoke open-faced omelette, steak salad) were very very good. The bar is very well stocked, but I did not pay much attention to the wine list. Active noise but without being so loud you can't hear yourself think, very open-plan room with a modernish aesthetic. Not the same charm as the downtown version, but a good alternative for brunch/lunch if you don't need the walk-around-town-after part and/or you want easier and more convenient parking."
    Dined on 4/23/2014
  • "But should have known... I'd heard that it was a newer menu than the Cafe they have downtown, but newer isn't necessarily better. Nice staff though, if a bit young and struggling. Boring cocktail list. Why not other gin cocktails besides Hendrick's, which is bourgeoise gin? Rye, bourbon and use all the great Amoros on the shelf! Sad to when best part of lunch was frites. Soggy, tasteless tuna sandwich, tough, chewy steak salad - ugh!"

  • "All I can say is it was fantastic! The food was great (got the chicken) and the service was top notch. I was even amazed that they had a dessert that was passover friendly and tasted AMAZING!"
    Dined on 4/21/2014
  • "Food was great. Service was wonderful in spite of being at the farthest table outside. Interior has a bit of an upscale warehouse feel and is quite loud, so if you're sensitive to noise, are looking for a romantic spot, or hoping to have a deep discussion, this may not be the spot."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Service was friendly but very slow. Decor is all hard surfaces which makes the restaurant extremely noisy. For was average...I think it's over rated"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "The food was great and the atmosphere was great but not good for a meeting."

  • "We've been to Zola Bistro four or five times. Each time, the service and food have been very good. We're happy to have such a great option for neighborhood dining. The menu is virtually the same as the one @ Cafe Zola. The restaurant is very noisy (probably because of the high ceiling and concrete floor), so it's not a place for quiet conversation. That being said, we like Zola Bistro very much and look forward to dining there again soon."

  • "Thrilled to find another great place to eat in Ann Arbor. All of our food was fantastic. Can't wait to take others there."

  • "The shades are not sufficient to keep out the intense, migraine-producing glare of the evening sun which blinds diners facing the window. The other evening I could barely see my plate much less my companion diners, and had to wear sunglasses. I really needed a baseball cap! So, I strongly urge management to invest in darker sun shades for the windows!!"
