First dinner there a success. Food and service good. Attractive especially (only?) sitting at banguette in back. Second dinner friendly but sloooww service. Squash salad good. Third dinner restaurant not full nevertheless incredibly slow service. 1/2 hour before a drink appeared. My dish -quail and couscous practically a joke in appearance and ingredients: not good at all. Too bad.

The food was terrific, especially the kale salad. Unfortunately it took an hour to get to our entree, despite the fact that we told our server we had a commitment following dinner. It was hard to understand the delay since the restaurant was not that crowded.

A bit disappointing experience today, unlike during multitude of other visits. Service rather slow, with food taking ~45 minutes to arrive after ordering (this is brunch after all). They might have been overwhelmed as they did not even have appropriate china (food hanging over salad plate rim is not an appropriate presentation). ANd food was not memorable - I have been getting the same dish for years now, this time the worst execution ever. Finally, noise is beyond comprehensible - it is impossible to keep a conversation going without ending up yelling.

Based on the reviews we were expecting more from our overall experience. There is nothing we can complain about, and the food was good, but in the end there was nothing that wowed us. Even though I love goat cheese, it seemed to be everywhere on the menu leaving us feeling there was a lack of variety on the menu. Fresh ingredients, dome original food combinatuons, and modern decor.

We have eaten at both Zola Cafe and Zola Bistro and both have the same amazing breakfast menu. The portion size is very generous and their coffee is excellent. The Cafe is walking distance from the Michigan campus but the Bistro is not. The food is a bit pricey for the average college student but if you can swing it, it is well worth it. I would definitely go back again for brunch. I have not tried their lunch menu but it looks just as delicious.

Attractive room, interesting menu. I ordered the pescado veracruz. Received our first course -- the caprese salad was delicious. We waited quite a bit of time for the main to arrive. Just when I was thinking it should be at the table, the waiter came over to tell me they out of my dish! Would I choose something else? I ordered the salmon special. Five minutes later, my tablemates were served. I ended up sharing. They brought my entree out as the table was being cleared. I sent it back. I would have had to make everybody sit and watch me eat. They said sorry and they wouldn't charge me for it. I should hope not!! When I indicated I was quite disappointed, They offered me a complimentary dessert. Whoohoo. Didn't make up for it.

Ordered $45 bottle of wine and was told it was sold out so brought out "replacement" and was told it was same cost. When bill came, was charged $135. When we complained we were told the difference would come out of our waitresses check! Place was not able to handle the large Saturday night crowd. Dinner wasn't served for at least an hour.

Pro: Wonderful brunch menu with all the standards plus their signature creations. Con: Atmosphere loud and noisy, hard to have a conversation. Tightly spaced tables. Our table was next to the center servers workstation and staff kept bumping into the back of my chair throughout the meal. Narrow aisles poor for handicapped access.

Luckily, one of our party suggested we call Zola's Cafe to see if they might be able to accommodate us. We did and they were able to honor our reservation and we were seated as soon as we arrived from across town!! Food at Zola's Cafe was, as usual, wonderful. We will have to try the Bistro again.

Loved the decor, but had to take stars away for the noise level and screaming kids. The food was fabulous. Kale salad was possibly the best I've ever eaten. The kale was crispy, dark green, and the combo of the grilled artichoke hearts, grapes and pine nuts, with the right amount of dijon dressing was perfect. Also loved the penne (balanced combo of sausage, cream, and chianti), steak special (I tasted my wife's med. well…I enjoy rare, but this steak was awesome even tho it was med. well), pomme frites with parmesan, and salmon burger. Crab cakes tasted good, but the consistency was mush. Love the smaller plate options, making it easy and fun to try several dishes.

I've always enjoyed Zolas downtown and understood that they didn't have a childrens menu. This location is no different, which is unfortunate as I would think this would appeal to the parent who didn't want to wait for brunch downtown with their children. My husband explained that perhaps they can make more money by not having children's meals. But I disagree. As a parent, I'm less inclined to buy a $10 waffle for my picky child. So, I offer him bits and pieces of our meals. If Zola offers a $5 or $6 children's (brunch) meal, I will be more inclined to buy that in addition to our meals. I enjoyed our brunch selections and coffee, I like that there is ample parking, and the fact that they are on Open Table is a definite plus.

I had a great experience my first time at Zola Bistro with the selection of small plates we ordered. However, this time I ordered the Cavolo Nero and it tasted like raw kale and wet noodles. Clearly it was missing an essential ingredient or two such as garlic and spices. I remarked to my waitress this was the case and she tried to doctor it with parmesan cheese, brought me more kale that again was missing essential pesto ingredients and then when I told her it was still missing flavor said the reason was a new prep cook.

I went with my family, and we tend to have a good time wherever we go, so even if the service had been bad we probably still would have a good time. Either way, the service was good, our server was patient, which I think is necessary for a fam of 8 and the food was really good. I'm under 21 so I can't day much for the alcoholic beverages. The ambience of the place was pretty nice, not too stuffy, but still classy. I would come back with friends.
