Diner Reviews
  • "This was the 3rd time going to Zoe's. I like to take business guests there because I expect to receive great food, service, and atmosphere for dining. After all, you pay for what you get, right? I have been very pleased on the first 2 occasions, but this time....the food quality and atmosphere was great...but the food portions were ridiculously small! Not on one dish;but every dish. When you pay almost $100 per person (only 1 glass of wine each), you expect more, and should get more."

  • "My husband and I come to Zoe's all the way from Beverly Hills, CA. It is an amazing restaurant with impeccable service and knowledgable staff. I hosted my husbands dinner party there and they were so accommodating and even did private and set menus for me and my guests. They are fast to contact you with any questions and a pleasure to speak with and help with my menu! The wine list is the best in Virginia beach, by far. Some of the wines they have i can not even find in California! The steaks are also the best in Virginia! Our favorite place to come in Virginia Beach and we can not wait to come back!"

  • "We travel over 150 days each year so we eat at many restraunts and I can honestly say this is one of my top 5 ever! The food was spectacular in every way. Done to perfection, presentation was lovely and the amount of food was perfect. My wife and I shared a special steak of the evening for two and I can't find a negative about anything. Probably the only thing I could say and it's not really a negative is that the side dishes were so fantastic it almost detracted from the steak. You must try the succotash and the crab Mac and cheese OMG. The Lobster pops as a starter was perfect and full of flavor. I had the Key Lime dessert and my wife the home made ice cream and they were wonderful. I live in Key West and this dessert was the best ever."

  • "My husband and I went to Zoe's while in VA beach for our 3 year anniversary and we were very impressed by the food and the service! We did the wine tasting 4 course menu and it was fabulous! Our sommelier, Angela gave us great background on the wine we received and was very knowledgeable overall! The food was great, fresh, and well-priced for the quality. Great place in VA beach for a nice dinner! Will definitely go back if we are ever in the area!"

  • "We started with drinks at the bar. The bartender was friendly and provided good drink recommendations. When we were seated in the dining area, Zoe's surprised us with a nice anniversary card at our dining table. The waiter was on point with his service and the food was cooked to perfection. We will be going back."

  • "We have been to Zoe's over the years and it continues to impress. From appetizers to main course to dessert, all servings were top notch and unique. The quality of the stake clearly rivals Salacia, Chops or Ruth Chris in Virginia Beach. Our waiter Stewart was knowledgeable and attentive through out the meal and his support staff were prompt, polite, and cheerful. Zoe's made for a very memorable wedding anniversary dinner. We'll be back!"

  • "Zoes is ultimate for romantic dinners, fantastic deserts and a wine connoisseur's dream. The staff is well trained and courteous, catering to your every need. I first came to Zoes 10 years ago, and I'm happy that nothing has changed. Goes to show that good service and fantastic food will get you everywhere."

  • "Disappointed in desserts; didn't finish. Male server was good enough but seemed distracted and not genuinely interested in our party of 4."

  • "Zoe's was recommended to us by a local couple. We had a wonderful meal - shrimp tempura & rockfish are excellent- and dessert is not to be missed!! We also enjoyed the wine list and the recommendation for an outstanding wine " the Pairing" - smooth and bold --tell them John sent you!! "

  • "Food was fantastic, Mark was very informative about the wines and generous with his knowledge and Angela was superb, friendly and was attentive without being intrusive! It was another beautiful, romantic night at Zoe's. Thanks to the whole staff. "

  • "We thought the food was well made, but the menu was pretty standard stuff. Steak. Rockfish. The usual. There were some locally sourced ingredients. The parking is valet. The waiter was pretty gruff and seemed annoyed to be at work. The décor was strange. The crowd was definitely in the older age range. There really isn't anything to recommend this over other places, i.e. no water views, no unusual foods, no soup if you can believe that. "

  • "It was a very pleasurable dining experience! The pairing of wines with our different courses absolutely complimented the fantastic food! The staff, especially the sommeliers were knowledgable, helpful and attentive to our wants! This is an eclectic dining experience that should be savored! "

  • "Not sure how we missed this spot after living in VA beach for 10 years. Server Stuart was phenomenal. Valet has eyes in the back of his head or they radioed him we were on our way out, as our car arrived at the door seconds after we walked out which was lovely. As for the food, I had the 9 oz filet, a perfectly cooked med rare. The Foie Gras butter topper was a miss though, and reminiscent of armpit and wet dog. Hubbie loved the lobster and the fabulous crab mac and cheese. We also shared the truffle fries, decent but nothing to write home about and a bit tough. Excellent wine list, suggest the Catana malbec. Wish interior hadn't been so dark, always makes me suspicious a place is trying to hide something. Will definitely go back."

  • "Zoes was truly a great experience. The food and wine was very nice. We chose to have the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Kate ,our server was very knowledgeable and sweet. Mark the Somolier absolutely wonderful. A truly unique and wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. Will definitely return. "

  • "My fiancé and I have traversed to all corners of the globe for both business and pleasure alike. As a result we have had many pleasurable dining experiences, but none have been so well balanced on such a high scale. I even made a special request regarding the table settings and they pulled it off exquisitely! For those who are looking for an up-scale dining experience at a reasonable price and welcoming atmosphere, I could not recommend a better restaurant than Zoës. "

  • "We dined on Saturday, 4/12/14, and it was our first time dining there. The waitstaff was amazing, and the food was great. The highlights of the evening were definitely the visit by the sommilier, the bottle of bordeaux we had, and the chocolate torte + cappucinos after dinner! Fantastic service, and fun experience. We will be back!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Zoes, both indulging in the 3 -course tasting. It is well worth the money for the caliber of food and service. Would highly suggest the bone-in ribeye and the oxtail soup, and definitely spring for the wine pairing!"

  • "It seems the staff is more interested in the next table than our table. For the price and experience, if they don't pick it up, they will be in trouble ."

  • "We chose the pairing menu with wine. The food was beyond good! The sommelier came and explained each wine in detail and how it was paired with each course. We had to share all flavors. Unusual sauces and foods paired for incredible dishes. The lamb was perfect. Service was impeccable and we will be back very soon!"

  • "All in my party found the steaks we were served to have little taste. They just were not good. The sides were okay, especially the crab macaroni and cheese. I had heard good things about the restaurant, so was disappointed."

  • "Hit for a $50 corkage fee. Nothing special on the food side, standard steak and seafood menu. Service friendly ambience not on par with an upscale restaurant."

  • "Zoe's is always a great place to experience wine. The wine list is detailed, the prices are reasonable. If you get stuck as to which wine to order, ask Marc, one of few who I would allow to order wine for me. Oh, yeah, the food is great too. Enjoy a wine flight with the menu that includes exquisitely prepared game"

  • "We are locals in the area and heard about Zoe's and were looking forward to our dining experience. We had the lobster lobs and it was the best experience of the entire meal. Our waiter was attentive but the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. Our waiter highly recommended the steak and explained the quality was much better than Ruth Chris or any other restaurant in the area. What a disappointment. I ordered the NY Strip that looked more like a Delmonico. It was full of gristle and lacked taste. My first clue should have been they offered sauces to accompany which any good steak shouldn't need a sauce. My companion had the rockfish was just mediocre."

  • "Had dinner with my wife, sister, and best friend. Didn't know what to really expect being that it doesn't look like much from the outside, and also neither of us had heard of Zoes, but I must say it was a great dining experience. Great staff and the food was excellent. I had the cowboy cut and a lobster tail and both were cooked to perfection. My wife had the chicken gnocchi which she also enjoyed. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and personally I can't wait to go back. Bravo Zoes!!!!!"

  • "Our second visit to Zoe's was even better than the first, this time for Valentine's Day. Too bad the heavly volume preventing Mark from providing his stellar wine paring service, but the food was outstanding and our waiter Tim was fantastic. My wife finally found a place that can properly prepare a lobster tail! Even the valet remembered our vehicle without prompting. All around a great evening!"

  • "Great to be surprised with a better than expected dining experience, that's what we found at Zoes. The food was great, the wine selection is very good (price range is extreme, but you can find some great wines in any price range), the service was spot on with both our server Kate and the wine connoisseur (can't remember her name, sorry). My wife and I chose the wine pairing meal, we love good wine but don't know a lot about choosing one, Zoes does, it made the dinner all work. We have spent more in this area for a lot less, we will be back to Zoes. Bob & Tammy"

  • "I had never been to Zoe's and took a shot based on online reviews and Zoe's website itself. Glad I did! Exactly what I was looking for. Creative original outstanding food, comfortable trendy upscale feel and ambience. Our booth was very private while still being able to feel the vibe of the surroundings. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, completely professional. Our server was more of a guide through our meal, helping us through the menu selections, wine recommendations and the deserts ensuring we completely enjoyed our evening. Zoe's isn't the cheapest place you can eat, but it's worth every penny."

  • "We selected the four course menu with wine pairing. Sommelier Angela Jackson listened to our likes and dislikes and selected perfect wines for each course. We had the salad of the day which had a delicious green goddess dressing and cured salmon. Appetizers were lob pops complimented by delicious blackberry deduction. We each selected the 6 oz filet mignon and it was absolutely perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, On the side we ordered the mac and cheese to share and it is a meal within itself! Topped dinner off with a cheese platter which was excellently displayed with almonds, blueberries, figs, a fruit paste and warm bread. Everyone was customer oriented from our valet to our server, Kate, to Ms. Jackson. We will be back!"

  • "We started our date with Espresso Martinis which were great. Our server, Tim, explained everything about the restaurant, menu, wine list, and resident sommelier. We decided on the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Wife-Spinach and tomato salad w/ fried goat cheese, LOB pops, 6 oz filet mignon, apple crisp. Me-THE iceberg, shrimp tempura, 6 oz filet mignon, dessert tasting. All four courses were paired with wines based on 3 questions from the sommelier: 1) prefer white or red? 2) sweet or dry? 3) adventurous or conservative? Marc, the sommelier, was extremely knowledgeable and attentive and took great care of us. WE WILL RETURN AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND ZOE'S!!!"
