A word from Zoe
Chef and owner Zoë Feigenbaum's light-filled restaurant is done in honeyed midcentury modern. The American menu also glances abroad: turkey rillettes, octopus with labne, harissa and olives, stuffed cabbage soup and tongue tacos.
Zoe's wine list looks toward old world style wines and is rounded out by a carefully selected list of Apertif and Digestif.

Zoe takes weekend brunch seriously, (as any true New Yorker would) so get there early for the homemade sticky buns and buttermilk biscuits. A great spot for pre-movie oysters and bone-in ribeye steak (Landmark Sunshine Theater is around the corner) or a quiet dinner with friends. Large parties and groups can be seated along the long banquette seating. Zoe is also a great choice for those who like to dine at the bar- Zoe's counter is specifically designed for dining and is a great place to enjoy their $1 Oyster Happy Hour and a half from 5:30-7:00 Monday-Saturday.

Zoe is a little restaurant tucked away on a side street. Good spot for local dining . Zoe was there and made us feel very welcome. All the wait staff made us feel welcome. The kale salad was particularily good. I had the chicken which was ok, at least it wasn't swimming in olive oil or an unhealthy sauce. It was kind of dry though. When we had finished I felt like we had eaten a healthy meal & didn't feel like we had gouraged ourselves, which is a good thing. It wasn't too expensive, also a good thing. The ambience was nothing special. It's not likely that we will return but maybe if we lived in the neighborhood and on a tight budget it would be our go to restaurant for casual dinners with friends.

Service was excellent. Cocktail was outstanding. Food was good. Impressed with so many gluten dairy free options. The food was healthy/tasty but didn't wow me like the drink. The space is nice but the floor was sticky which the only thing that put me off a bit. I will be back to try other menu options.

Buttery biscuits, yummy bacon, and their blueberry pancakes with lemon curd are transcendent. Only drawback is the small, overcrowded space. It's a really tight fit between tables and, at least for brunch, they fill up quickly. Best to try off hours if you can.

Nice location, on a quiet street. Good quality ingredients. I had the oxtail with chicken thigh and bucatini chile, and truffle. It was really delicious. I licked the plate clean pretty much, the meat with perfectly cooked and the chicken thigh was incredibly juicy. The pasta added great depth and layer to the dish.

We made reservations at Zoe because we were going to be visiting NY and looking for a place close to our hotel and the reviews looked good. We were there on Valentine's Day and it was really crowded. Very small place so we were pretty jammed in. The staff was very good, a little harried but very nice. We thought the food was fine - not great. It was a small fixed menu for Valentine's Day. Overall it was fine - we'd like to try it again when it's a little less crowded.

Zoe is smarestaurant in the LES. The ambience was very romantic, lightly dimmed by candle lights, and peaceful enough for you and your date to have a conversation. We had the pre fixe dinner $65/person which included one entree, an appetizer dessert to share and unlimited drinks for 2 hrs. We both had the crabcake as an appetizer and it was decent. However, the entrees were heaven In your mouth. I ordered the steak with mash potatoes and greens and my boyfriend had the lambchops with feta cheese and eggplants. The steak was cooked to perfection and was very filling. my boyfriend enjoyed his entree as well.never had fried brussel sprouts it was seasoned very well. we both enjoyed our dnner and will definitely come back again.

We have loved Zoe on previous occasions but are not likely to purchase any more groupons. The menu is light on health.. Too many carbs and sugar included in the groupon and not enough greens. On 3 previous occasions the waitress was kind enough to swap a salad for the unwanted dessert (I am diabetic). Not so this time. The chicken lacked flavor. The stuffing was gluey. The Brussels sprouts were, however, excellent

The food was nice, and the restaurant had a nice feel to it, but it is small, a tiny bit cramped and the music was too loud. I think also we were forgotten about after the main meal and had a long wait before somebody turned up and realized we didn't have dessert menus. At the end of the night a waitress followed us onto the street and we had a strange conversation that my friend said was a reference to the tip. We'd left a tip on the card so the experience was odd (though the waitress was very nice so it wasn't unpleasant). It's worth a vist if your not bothered by noise as the food was very enjoyable.

Came here with some friends over Christmas week. The Chef Zoe actually came to our table and helped to describe the food and preparation of dishes. Very cool touch. She seemed laid back and intelligent. Added to the warmth of the meal. As for the food itself: The starters were great. Fish tacos and kale salad very good. The brussels sprouts were quite tasty however, there were 50 of them on the plate so, at first glance- we were all a bit turned off. Maybe as a side dish but even then- less is more. As for the main meal, the pork 2 ways was terrific. The burger was really good as well. The chicken dish had the same issue as the kale salad. Way too much on the plate. In fact, it was overflowing and my friend couldn’t cut her chicken.

I heard about Zoe while watching an episode of Chopped on the Food Network. During a trip to NYC during the holiday season I discovered the restaurant was serving Christmas dinner. The space is small, but clean and the staff is attentive without being interfering. My meal stared with a black kale salad with fried poached egg. Second course was lamb breast served two ways garnished with chick pea and caper gastrique accompanied with crispy brussel sprouts and cream biscuits. The lamb was tender and juicy. The third course was a Jamaican black cake garnished with hard sauce -the cake was moist and sweet. I hope to visit Zoe again to try the brunch.

Maybe the restaurant was understaffed and not up to the challenge, but with the simplifications of a largely set meal, including set drinks choices, one would think that one would not have to ask multiple times to get a wine refill, or have one's complete order delivered.

Booked Zoe for my mom and myself for Christmas dinner. I had waited a bit too long to make reservations for the holiday and had to spend a couple of hours finding a place that was open on the 25th, had good reviews, and would be an acceptable combination of price, location, and menu. Zoe fit the bill, but I had no idea what to expect since I was a first-time diner. I couldn't have been happier with the ambience, the service, and most importantly, the food. Each course was superb. I give particular plaudits to the main "lamb two ways" dish. I was so overwhelmed (in a good way) with wonderful flavors that I was giddy. It didn't hurt that drinks were included in the prix fixe, which made it much more like a family dinner at home. Thanks, Zoe!

This Xmas my family enjoyed a lovely brunch together in a small neighborhood restaurant. We usually go to a place in midtown that is overrated, noisy and I try to order very little on the overpriced menu, but we adore the staff. 2013 I vowed to find something better and that's Zoe. I had the fried chicken w/ biscuit and my husband had the shrimp and grits both were solid dishes, and our son was happy with his toast. We wanted to linger over a good cup of coffee and stretch our time, but alas we needed to get back to preparing Xmas dinner and calling family.

I've been to Zoe twice and have loved it each time. It's a small venue nestled away in a corner of LES. I don't think I've ever met such sincerely friendly and attentive servers in NYC. The food and cocktails are up to snuff, with portions that may look modest but are actually v. filling. The crispy Brussels Sprouts are by far my favorite item on the menu, and I also loved the Tilda Swinton(sp?) cocktail. We also tried the fried artichoke hearts (slightly over-seasoned in some bits, but still tasty), the lamb ribs (delish but small), and the oysters (the garnishes: amazing). An extra plus? It's not super crowded, so getting a reservation even on a weekend is not too much of a challenge.

I went for brunch and the vibe was relaxed and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals: grilled shrimp and grits with sunny eggs, cheese, chipotle honey, bacon (large serving of grits, 3 shrimp, perfectly made sunnyside eggs), fried chicken biscuit with savory orange rosemary marmalade (the skin was perfectly crisped and the marmalade added a touch of sweet to the savory of the chicken) and I had the Black Kale Nicoise (the Kale was cooked just right). We finished our meal and the turn-over of tables was such that they didn't rush us (3 of us) out. We agreed that we wanted to come back and taste more of the menu over the next few months.

It's been a long time since I had a truly amazing meal in NYC... this place was phenomenal! I waited for my friend at the bar for a bit and Anthony (bartender) was lovely... testing his talents with a new Guatemalan rum drink I requested. The staff was all very friendly making me feel quite comfortable as I waited for my friend. Once I got to the dinner, we shared an octopus appetizer and then I ordered the pork steak with grilled peaches. The pork was devine and the peaches simply perfect. We finished with a delicious baked alaska. I plan to become a regular here as not only is the food exciting but the staff is remarkable. What a great addition to the NYC food scene.

This is a small restaurant that manages to be relaxed and elegant at the same time. Plus, the food is imaginative, varied and really delicious. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and the wine, and the chef is so talented. Her brussel sprouts are crispy with just a tiny bit of sweetness. They'd convert even brussel sprout haters. The kale salad is heaven, and the lamb twp ways is varied and satisfying, even though it's only an appetizer. (In fact, sharing three or four appetizers instead of two main dishes is sometimes a fun way to go.) It's on the Lower East Side, and even if it's not in your neighborhood, it's worth the trip and will become one of your favorites.

Spot is tight but sweetly decorated. Staff is as nice as they come. Solid Malbec for $38. While the menu is promising, the food falls quite short. The octopus raved about in reviews is forgettable- no gorgeous char or briney goodness a fresh piece of octopus should have. Instead, it was swimming in a sauce & easily mistaken for the potato it was mixed with. The Brussels sprouts were over fried & over sweet, the fried artichokes were ok; the fryer could use a freshened oil. The bite of entree salmon I had was delicious & stoodout amongst the rest. The uni bucatini was almost flavorless, the ribs were underwhelming, lacking any thought of being grilled. The deviled eggs and the strawberry rubarb shortcake shows what Zoë is shooting for.

Only table in restaurant--3rd time that has been the case. Lunch was embarrassing. Meat on reuben was skimpy and extremely fatty, bread was on the verge of being burnt. Out of fried chicken and pancakes so offered biscuit entree (brunch offering) instead. Biscuit was left over from Sunday and chicken was overcooked and dry. Fries were greasy, limp, and overcooked. Have eaten at this restaurant several times in the past but will not go back. Owner didn't respond to issues. Very disappointing. Seems to have lost its luster.
