ZocaloWe will be back.......Prior to our arrival, we checked out the menu on line. We were kind of disappointed that the menu had changed. We asked our waiter, Samuel, for some suggestions. We started with appetizers which came with a basket of fried plantains and tortilla chips, the guacamole trio, tuna ceviche, and a tamal. Plated perfectly and all delicious. Then the main courses, I ordered the red snapper and my husband ordered the short ribs. Our friends ordered the carna asada and short ribs. My, my, my, we were not disappointed! My mouth is watering now as I think about our delicious meal. I think it was a good change to narrow down the menu to fewer items and put all the attention into them. A group of 6 of us went for a girls night out dinner and had a blast. The menu was a little small but we all found dishes that were amazing!! Some of us had found the Zocalo flight on their on line menu however when we got there, it was no longer on their menu. Our server told us that it would be no problem for us to order them anyways. The drinks were so good!! I highly recommend the flight which came with 3 different drinks and the sangria was my personal favorite!!
All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and even apologetic that our reserved table wasn't ready (even though it was our fault as our whole group was not there on time). I had shrimp for the main dish - excellent quality. My husband had the skirt steak and it was very flavorful.Our dining companions had enchiladas and filet and liked their dishes. Trio of guacamole as appetizer was excellent - I have never seen this anywhere else. Chocolate cake was great for dessert. Our table also had flan (banana was the flan flavor the night we were there) and churros which I thought were a bit dry. We live close by and its quality is unsurpassed. The organic margarita is simply the best. Tacos de pescado were loaded with flavor. All the food options are well-prepared. We got the trio de guacamole and discovered the fruit guacamole tasted too salty. Our server (unknown to us) took the item off of our tab.
