The most wonderful casual dining experience. The atmosphere and the waitress created a feeling of being in someone's home. She even offered to send someone out to get applesauce! We will go back every time we visit from Atlanta!

The buttermilk fried chicken at Zingerman's Roadhouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan was the best fried chicken I have ever had. I am 74 years old and until two days ago I thought that with the conversion of Colonel Sanders to the dull lifeless, tasteless "baked' chicken it now offers that I would not again see "real" buttermilk fried chicken again outside of the deep South. Now, at last, real fried chicken is available within 20 miles of my home.

good place for a group to eat. best part of the meal was the sweet potato fries we shared as an appetizer. my caprese burger was just so-so - a bit undercooked and not very flavorful. my friend's fish was just so-so. expected more from Zingerman's!

My husband and I have gone to Zingerman's Roadhouse a handful of times for dinner and we loved it. They offer delicious food, locally grown items, and are priced well for a special occasion. This time, we went for breakfast and we were VERY disappointed. First of all, it was not crowded, so there was very little reason for it taking over an hour for us to get our food. The server seemed to do the best she could, but she was not attentive, did not refill coffee quickly, and rarely checked in with our table. Overall, we were very unsatisfied with our visit and if we had not been to Zingerman's for dinner before, we probably would not return.

The food is good, tends to be on the heavy side. The prices are very high and there are few choices for those who like or need to eat light or who are vegetarian. If you are ok paying $20 for macaroni and cheese, then this is the place to go.

This place is hopping! Granted it was move-in time at UMich, but we were so glad we had a reservation as otherwise there would have been an hour wait at 8PM on a week night! We were seated within 15 mins of our reservation time, which I though acceptable. The hostess was doing a good job managing the antsy customers waiting for tables. Very good, fresh food, and excellent homemade bread to start the meal. Service was friendly and attentive. It was a tad noisy, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return.

The evening ambience on the sheltered patio is mellow. The special menu featured numerous entrees, salads and sides served buffet style. Entrees that I tried were excellent, including Coq au Vin and Lamb Osso Buco. An unusual salad of turnips and radish sprouts with vinaigrette was superb. The "Tomato Bar", consisting of multiple varieties of sliced, absolutely fresh heirloom tomatoes from Cornman Farms, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and sea salt, is available throughout the dinner. It is nirvana for tomato lovers such as myself! Great dinner with high quality ingredients characteristic of Zingerman's, which I attend every year.

I always enjoy dining at the Roadhouse. This particular was lovely as I was served by Ari, one of the owners, and had a quick conversation with him. The country fried steak was crispy, the heirloom tomatoes were delicious and plentiful, and the restaurant atmosphere was entirely pleasant. Never had a bad experience here!

I visited this restaurant with 18 yr old son Tuesday night. We had dinner with 815 reservation, were seated within a reasonable time and it was hopping lots of people. We were seated at a very cramped two-person table but we were greeted by a very friendly waitress the food was very good the sirloin steak was very tender and tasty vegetables, fried green tomatoes were really good my son thought that the burger was just ok said that it wasn't put together very well and stated he's had better. I ordered a cocktail but never got not was charged for it so I was ok with that. Total dinner was $72.00 for burger and fries, appetizer, steak dinner and one rootbeer. Farm fresh food very expensive IMO. Disappointed son didn't like burger.

I always enjoy the food and the service at Zingerman's Roadhouse, but I truly appreciate how accommodating they are to special diets. They check and make sure about everything, and are very friendly for gluten-free diets. Their crab cakes are not gluten-free, buti asked about the possibility of them making a gluten-free crab cake for me. They asked for a few hours notice, and voila! Gluten free crab cakes, delicious!! They are the best!!

My family and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The food selection was great and everything was delicious. Not a bad choice on the menu! Also, the staff was fantastic! Our waitress was one of the best I've ever had, anywhere! She was on top of everything, cheerful, engaging, and made the experience so much better. The Roadhouse was also very accommodating. Our family dog was allowed to tag along and sat under our table outside on the patio. I also have a few food allergies and have a hard time eating out but Zingerman's made it very easy for me. They were able to help me put together some that I could eat the was still delicious (and not extra charges for any of my substitutes!). Overall, a fantastic experience!

I expected a lot more from a James Beard award winning chef. This is in the Applebees' style in my opinion, with a huge menu of comfort food cooked with a minimum of fuss. Service met a low standard, the tables are jammed together too close, every room was very loud and it was not relaxing or very pleasant. Good things: an open kitchen and they take OpenTable.com. In short I was disappointed and would not go back.

We had a rather large (and late!) work group who was meeting for a goodbye party. As always, Zingerman's customer service shined as our server was especially accommodating to folks who came and went and ordered at different intervals, then our fickle group who changed their minds about dessert (so she graciously re-rang all of our orders). The food, as always, was fabulous! So was our company. Another win for Zingerman's!

Food and service great as usual - very busy on a Monday evening with nothing really happening in town. Thank God I had a reservation. Apps - pimento and cheese (ask for side of bagel chips to go with them), sweet potato fries, and fried green tomatoes excellent! Fried chicken, pimento mac n cheese, and salisbury steak were ordered and tasty. Salisbury steak a bit on the salty side, but still a good dish.

Zingerman's Roadhouse has it all: fun crews, seasonal menu, traditional american food, exhaustive list of drinks. In fact, so much to choose from that one will probably be lost. But fear not, the servers are always there to share their professional views, and in my case they are always right. For example, I was recommended a "Fried Pickled Tomatoes", something that I will not order in my own accord but decided to try anyway, and I like it right when I put it in my mouth. If you like seafood, Zingerman's Roadhouse also makes one of the best grilled fish (I had the bluefish, again recommended by my server, and was really flavorful). To sum up, Zingerman's Roadhouse is definitely worth a visit, whenever one is in our cosy town of Ann Arbor.
