  • "Waitress was great husband liked barbecue beef little disappointment with macaroni-thought it could be Chrysler Receptionist very good-she rembered my name when I left"

  • "You know you had a great breakfast when you are still talking about it the next day. All 4 of us loved what we had--American Breakfast, breakfast nachos and fried French toast. The service was also very friendly and attentive. Definitely going back!"

  • "I used my account to make a reservation for my boss. I called the week ahead of time to ensure that when my boss came and give his name, he would be seated with this reservation. I included this information in the Notes of the reservation. When my boss showed up, he was told he did not have a table. He thought to try my name, and sure enough, it worked. I called the next day to discuss the fact that they should have put the table under my bosses name. The host, Justin, was apologetic but also seemed to think that since my boss was seated, the name issue wasn't really a problem, even though I think it was. I was not offered any coupon or something to compensate for their mistake."

  • "Love Zingerman's Roadhouse and will keep coming back. Great to show people from out of town a taste of Ann Arbor without having to deal with crowds of main street, also very kid friendly. Had a new waiter in training so service was a little bit slow but he went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with our experience."

  • "Sorry to say that $47 is way too much for skimpy servings of eggs & sausages and eggs & steak along with one beer. And it certainly doesn't warrant the waits that most patrons were faced with. Too bad."

  • "The food is outstanding, and I would come here just to give my taste buds a treat but the real gems are the people!!! They found out we had just gotten married, made a reservation for us when there wasn't any available and bought us flowers and all signed a congratulatory card which met us at our table. You exceeded our already high expectations, you are amazing!!!!!!!!"

  • "We had another great meal at the Roadhouse, this time a birthday breakfast. As usual, the staff were very friendly and eager to please. Loved my bacon and grits waffles served with REAL MAPLE SYRUP - Yum! The menu consistently has creative combinations with locally sourced ingredients where possible including the eggs. However, the eggs are remarkably better than anywhere else I have eaten. Don't know how they ca do that but they do! The server asked if I had eaten there before and I had to reply "Ilive here...." which of course isn't true though I sometimes wish I did."

  • "My family and I went to Zingerman's Roadhouse to celebrate my birthday and were not disappointed. An event earlier in the day ran over, but the restaurant let us push our reservation back with no problems. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the bar had great options for drinks. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The place was packed, so service during dinner was a little slow. However, when my mom left her glasses behind by accident the restaurant called to let us know that they were setting them aside for her at the host stand, before we even noticed they were gone! So great follow-up with the restaurant staff."

  • "The food was great, the table was comfortable, and the ambience is warm and distinctive. But what I really want to focus on is the service. There was no coat hook available next to my table, so I hung my jacket a few tables down. Someone else accidentally left with my jacket, thinking it belonged to his dining companion. The restaurant manager sent someone to pick up the jacket at the gentleman's home, then delivered it back to me at my house. They took something that could have left a very bad taste in my mouth and turned it into a wonderfully positive experience of personal service. Fantastic. (The service during the meal was great, too. Friendly, capable, knowledgable -- thanks, Laura.)"

  • "Large and varied menu, something for everyone. Great bar selection. I didn't know what kind of craft beer I wanted so the server recommended a couple and brought samples in a tiny glass so I could try them out. First time there andwe intend to go back."

  • "Yes the food is good but it wasn't a home run like everyone said it would be. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and still ended up waiting 45 minutes to be seated. The noise level was more than "energetic" it was too much - there were times I couldn't even hear the person siting next to me. Babies were crying/screaming and they were so busy/packed that it would make anyone who doesn't like crowds feel extremely uncomfortable. To end on a good note the sweet potato fries were awesome as well as the donut sundae dessert. It sounded lame but ended up being really good."

  • "I did not attend this dinner but I received feedback from the physicians that did attend. I reserved a table for my physicians to meet with several physician recruits for dinner. I called in a University of Michigan credit card to pay for my guests' meal. The server told my guests that I had not called in the credit card number. When he found the information, he made a big deal to my guests that he had to redo the check to split alcohol from food and then told my guests that someone should have "known" how to handle the bill (suggesting that my guests needed to intervene in some way which they didn't). One of my physicians said they had this server in the past and also had a bad experience with his service. The food was great though."

  • "Have had great experiences here every time but I ordered a spicy black bean hominy burger (limited vegetarian options on menu this day) and it was inedible and mushy. I can tolerate heat but this was like a chemical burn. Not sure if it just sat too long in a fridge or just a super concentrated peppers were used. To Zingerman's credit, the server took it back and brought me something else and we were not charged. Service was great as always! Rest of my dining companions all loved their entrees and we had some fabulous desserts, including a PB&J doughnut saturdae!"

  • "We made a reservation on a Saturday for brunch the following day for 6 adults and 2 babies. The food and service were excellent."

  • "The service is exemplary but the food could be better."

  • "Service was excruciatingly slow, beginning with our table, which wasn't ready until 15 minutes after the reservation. The slowness continued throughout the evening. Most notably it took 45 minutes for our son to get his food – usually kids food appears sooner. The waitress got his order wrong, so when it appeared it wasn't even the right order. They did eventually fix it, but the fried chicken legs were dry and leathery. For the adults, the greens in the salads were tasteless. The only good things were oysters and drinks. This was one of those nights, which happens every so often at this restaurant, where all you could think about is how overpriced, self-important,and overblown Zingerman's is."

  • "The wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The food was spectacular, and the service was phenomenal. However, if you plan to have a quiet meal, this might not be the right place; the music was loud, and it was hard to talk to my wife without yelling over the noise. Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this place for BBQ."

  • "I would have given this a better review if not for the reservation issues. My reservation was for 6:45 pm. My children and I were there promptly. When we checked in with the hostess, sheg stated she didrn't have my reservation. I showed her my confirmation on my phone and she didn't have an answer for me. She didn't apologize for the issue. I was told to wait. We waited for about 15 minutes and we're then seated. What's the point in using open table if my table isn't reserved?(f"

  • "I have always been a fan of Zingerman's breakfast; however, this particular trip we decided to try dinner. Sadly, we will never return for dinner. It was EXTREMELY overpriced and not worth the money. My husband ordered the 'BBQ sampler' and not only was the taste mediocre, it wasn't worth the money because he was hungry an hour later. I ordered the vegetarian grits dinner (can't remember the specific name) which was good as far as taste but it was too spicy and did not indicate on the menu that it was spicy. I couldn't eat it all because of that. While we appreciate your effort to provide organic, grass-fed (with regards to meat), and local cuisine, the price simply isn't worth it. On a positive note, we LOVE your breakfast!"

  • "Derrick was our server; he was fantastic. I took a couple of clients there for lunch, the service was exceptional the food was great and we were able to get some work done without being interrupted. I will definitely take clients and family there in future."

  • "My friend and I went for brunch. I have recently had to eat a gluten free, dairy free diet. The menu offers many gluten free options. The server worked with me to change my steak and eggs breakfast to dairy free and made sure to write a note to the chef about my needs. I was very pleased with my poached eggs and the spinach sautéed with garlic and olive oil. The 4 ounce steak was small, but tasty. My friend enjoyed her omelet, which was filled with vegetables . Her potatatoes were too salty for her to enjoy, and she asked for some from a different batch. None were available, so the server brought her a nice fruit plate to compensate. It was a very pleasant experience."

  • "I always appreciate Zingerman's Roadhouse. Their food, service, and ambience are all great. And as a gluten intolerant customer, there is so much on their menu! They don't always flag it, though. For instance, they have fried chicken and po' boys that are corn batter, but they don't mention them as gluten free. So look at the menu closely! There's more there for us than you would expect!!"

  • "The original Zingerman's is a landmark. Having been there countless times, I got tired of the lines, the lack of tables, the nonexistent ambiance... then the Roadhouse opened! Although it's Classic American Fare, there's something for everyone. An extremely wide menu all made with the highest quality ingredients, selected by the owner himself from options all over the world, but primarily the US. Best service EVER (they are rigorously trained in Making The Customer Happy; and they do). It's noisy and definitely better for those who aren't vegan (lots of bacon, ham, etc.), but it's just a hands-down winner for brunch, a casual dinner, and the like. Not inexpensive, but not gouging, either."

  • "Zingerman's Roadhouse has some of the best "real food" I've had. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area with some good dishes but I don't know of any with the delicious smoked meats, best Mac and cheese I've ever had, great beers and wine, friendly staff, excellent service and pleasant atmosphere that we enjoyed here. There are also a lot of very interesting specials on the menu. They seem to have a creative and high quality chef and we look forward to many return visits so we can try as many as possible!"

  • "I was suprised that the food was just okay. My daughter's fried fish had so much think, greasy batter that you couldn't even taste the fish. grilled Mahi Mahi was so salty that I couldn't enjoy the taste of the fish. My husband had one of the smoked sandwhiches which he rated as just okay. The only thing everyone liked were the french fries. Would not go back."

  • "We live 80 miles from the Detroit Metro airport. I always try to choose our flights to permit lunch or dinner at the Roadhouse. It is right on the way from our house to the airport. We always start or end our trip on a delicious high note."

  • "We have seen it on the Food Network, knew it was special to Ann Arbor and decided to make it a special occasion experience. We enjoyed the whole experience and especially our server Danielle. Tried the special dishes and enjoyed them."

  • "Do check if they don't have a special event. We did not. Our mistake. Their mistake for taking reservations during the peak hour of that event. Don't expect a romantic dinner when you are seated near the bar area. Energetic is not a word to describe it. A shop floor where tin cans are pressed from large machines would be a more apt description. Expect to be crunched in a position where it will be easier to have a conversation with the strangers beside you than with your companion across from you. Expect to be cold, as they have not figured out how to add a double door. Tell them you will wait (and you will, and it could be pretty cold where you wait) for a booth."
