Zinda, meaning "Alive" in Hindi, is a New Asian style restaurant combining a variety of tastes and flavors to create exciting dishes that heighten the senses. Our goal is to provide traditional Asian dishes created from deeply rooted recipes, using authentic ingredients. Boasting an inventive menu featuring Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and other Asian cuisines, Zinda offers delicious food flavored to perfection and an atmosphere unlike any other in Raleigh. The restaurant has a variety of dining rooms, two bars, and a beautiful second floor mezzanine that overlooks the first floor dining rooms.   • "Our foursome arrived at 6:30 pm (w/reservations) and welcomed by two friendly hostesses. Place was empty...clearly we were early diners! We decided to have drinks at the bar. Bartender was friendly. Eventually made our way to our table where we were greeted by our server, Katherine. She was excited to hear we were first-timers and when asked, was more than happy to make appetizer and entree recommendations. I got the red curry w/chicken and enjoyed every bite (thank you, Katherine!). By the time we left (around 8:30 ish), the place was hopping. Noise level is pretty high but we had no problem hearing one another. I really loved the atmosphere and decor. Overall, was a positively memorable dining experience!"

  • "We ordered from the Triangle Restaurant Week menu. Our appetizers were amazing, but both of our entrees were just ok. The mango steak was underwhelming, lacked some flavor overall, while the lamb had too much of something (ginger?). I love lamb, and would have appreciated tasting more of the meat instead of just seasoning. The desserts were pretty good as well, the S'more was the better of our two."

  • "Came for triangle restaurant week with a few friends (a few with gluten allergy, dairy intolerance, other food limitations). This was one of the few restaurant where all of us could get something to eat. Took a look at the non-restaurant week lunch menu as well and was tempted to get their 3 course $11 lunch instead. The food was delicious and filling. Definitely recommend and will likely return."

Very authentic, creative food, Asian fusion at its finest. The ambiance is amazing, beautiful lighting and seating...very upscale/South Beach type vibe. Fun spot for friends getting together!"

  • "This was our first visit to Zinda and won't be our last! We loved everything about this restaurant, especially the food and service. Catherine was prompt and attentive to our every need. Not only is the food great, the prices are very reasonable. We both enjoyed the Hot & Sour soup and House Salad. Then we opted for the Sichuan Flank Steak and Duck Confit with Rice Noodles and Steamed Bean Sprouts. Everything was excellently prepared and portions were generous. We can't wait to try some of the other Asian dishes."

  • "My husband and I visited Zinda before a concert, so arrived ahead of the dinner crowed on a Friday (we arrived around 6 and the dining room was empty, but by 7:00 there were at least 6 other couples seated /eating with more arriving when we left at 7:30). I would love to go back when it's later to see how energized the place gets, but I digress. I loved the ambience, the decor, the lighting, and the seating arrangements. My husband and I got three small plates to start--all excellent. We also each ordered an entree, but we weren't as impressed with those. First, the portions were huge, and second, the flavors, while good, didn't match the distinctive characteristics of the small plates, but I will definitely go back."

  • "Great food for reasonable prices; the menu had dishes from all over Asia. Very spicy. We had Szechuan flank steak and Mahi Vindaloo. Both served as entrees, the beef came with green onions and rice. A few vegetables would have been nice. The Mahi was great and came with rice and green beans. A little Naan would have been a nice touch. We will definitely be back, since we like spicy Asian food. However, we will make sure to order entrees that are a little more balanced than the flank steak."

  • "This modern take on a nightclub-the staff all dress the part-is modern sleek. The beautiful bar has good drinks at a fair price and the bartender was very bright. Everyone recommends the steamed buns, and I do too. My only complaint is that the dishes listed as "hot" are too meek."

  • "Anticipation: It had good reviews and was easily booked on OpenTable. Ambiance: The restaurant was large and busy at 8pm on a Friday night. Dinner: Great list of wines by the bottle at decent price points. Pork belly steamed buns were incredible with a wonderful variety of flavors. The green curry was SPICY delicious, well complemented by the subtle flavors and textures of the Chow Fun; naan was perfect to mop up the extra curry sauce. The lava cake (on the house for a birthday, thank you), though not liquid-lava-y in the center, was rich in texture and flavor; I only wish they'd served it with vanilla ice cream instead of some whipped cream. All in all, wonderful experience and we'll be happy to return."

However, when I called to confirm the reservation earlier in the day, I was told they have a list of desserts they offer when it's a special occasion. I told them it was a special occassion, and the person on the phone said she made a note next to the reservation. When we concluded dinner, this was not mentioned, and I didn't want to mention it in front of the person celebrating the special occasion. It would be nice if they had followed through on this."

  • "My best friend was blown away instantly as we were escorted to our plush white booth! The water, brought to us in a Zinda labeled carafe was refreshing and we were at liberty to refill as often as possible with it on our table the entire time. Moving on to our fantastic tapas that could have easily been an entree. This chicken was so fantastically tender!! My best friends birthday was so successful! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks and the meals, and the ambience is so gorgeous it'll impress most anyone. First date atmosphere, anniversary atmosphere, valentine atmosphere, girls night out atmosphere! We loved it!"

  • "Why haven't I been here before?? Why haven't I heard much buzz about this place?? The ambiance: lighting, seating arrangements, bar- are all so perfect for either a romantic night out or a night with friends. The food: to die for! It's a mix of apps to share and small plates to share for dinner. Everything we chose was cooked perfectly (steamed buns, spring rolls, beef lollipops, orange chicken and noodles). And I had a specialty sake drink that was amazing. Next time we go, I have a list of more items I am dying to try! Give this place a shot- I was hooked on Bida Manda, and next night out I'll be here again!"

  • "Every trip to an Asian restaurant outside, well, Asia, starts with a good bit of trepidation. The questions are always: Will the food be anything like I've had in my many trips to Asia? Or will it be dumbed down like so much of the standard corner Chinese Restaurant? For Zinda, the answers were YES and NO, respectively. My Maiai Kofta was similar to what I've had in Mumbai. Rich, a bit spicy, and very tasty. Next, I ordered Sichuan Lamb. It was excellent! The lamb was tender, and the chef nailed the spices with the Sichuan pepper and other spices. My girlfriend had "Red Port" with Chinese broccoli; it too was a little sweet like Taiwanees cooking with the fresh vegetables that make Chinese food good. I'll be back."
