Everyone was so nice to us and it was the best meal I've had there. The lentil salad with a fat slice of barrata (creamy mozzarella cheese) was exceptional. My salmon with pumpernickel bread pudding and my son's rare tuna with crispy fried spinach and spring rolls were perfectly prepared an balanced in flavor and texture. Between my girlfriend and myself every dish was phenomenal. Even their cocktails were fresh and innovative. The staff was super friendly and knowledgable. Must be open minded and creative to really enjoy this place. Lets just say the next time I'm in, the first thing I'm ordering are the duck nachos. The service was efficient and friendly without being intrusive. That was a bit of a miracle in itself, since we had lunch during restaurant week, when the place was very crowded at the time. Champagne was brought before we even thought what we might want. Mind you this was happening on a NH Restaurant Week evening with a packed dining room and line almost out the door. The menu is chock full of exciting choices and the combination of foods and flavors made choosing thought provoking and fun. As our courses arrived, we found ourselves enchanted by both their appearance and taste. The duck (served a true medium rare) was superb. For us a change was to try the cheese plate along side desert; the Landaff cheese was especially good. Service was not rushed and always attentive. Should have had a cucumber or something else too! The salmon was great and my husband's pork was ok. Dessert was very good but even though it was $32 a person, it still cost us $110 with "supplements". It was also very noisy and we had to yell at each other.

You could taste the passion for cooking in each dish and the fresh, high quality ingredients. When we heard Zinc was on the list of New Haven Restaurant week restaurants we just had to make reservations. I had the shrimp tostados and my husband had the burrata with lentils - a combination we would have never thought of but it worked. And the burrata was better than the one we get down in the city. The barramundi fish was fresh and the sides complimented it. The wine list was great - had a wonderful chataneuf du pape. Mostly, our waitress was phenomenal - attentive, but not too much and very knowledgeable about every aspect. We wanted to repay the hospitality shown us by this French couple for much generosity when we were on their turf, so we hoped for a good meal and were told that they knew their wine. All four of us had a different main dish: scallops, steak, tuna, and duck; and the manager/sommelier ended up proposing a pinot noir from central California that worked deliciously with all of our meals and impressed our guests -- an accomplishment, across the continental divide of wine tastes. The plates were beautiful, flavors perfectly combined, service competent and friendly. We ended up bombarding our waiter with questions about the fish choices. My husband's hanger steak was among the best he's ever had. The beer cake for dessert, which we shared, was a perfect ending. The service was friendly and warm. Their wine list is impressive so after we had chosen our meals the server (Martha) said she would send over a gentleman to discuss the wine list. He was very knowledgable and gave his suggestions. He told us some in different price ranges as well. My husband made the decision on a beautiful French White and it was delicious (Meursault) 2010. We had the salmon over the pumpernickel bread pudding and barramundi and mushroom risotto. OMG it danced in my mouth. For dessert we chose the assorted house made truffles with cognac.
