Diner Reviews
  • "Comfortable dining room, Larger than last location. Less intimate. nice that Pizza ,and bar are separated from dining room. Really good food. Decent portion size."

  • "Great experience at the relocated Zinc restaurant. Great overall atmosphere. Andrea and Cesare are great hosts. Food and atmosphere can accommodate any occasion from casual to more formal."

  • "Went there for a family member's birthday. Everyone enjoyed the time, nice larger restaurant than the last location. Cool setup with a small waiting bar, a full restaurant and a cool Hearth bar area for different occasions. Everyone enjoyed their meal, a little on the pricey side but that's what you expect when you come here. I had the special rainbow trout, it was honestly 'okay' (first time I had rainbow, perhaps it's just not for me) but everyone else at the table was very happy with their dish. Dessert was original and very good. Give it a try both on a night out after work or a romantic date."

  • "Great food, wine, and waitress. Sandusky's finest."

  • "As one fellow diner noted, "it's hard to find duck dishes, and they had two on the menu plus one special". Husband had excellent Cioppinno (spelling?) and my salmon was very flavorful and fresh. Zinc was special before, but now with it's larger venue, will be more accessible. Was concerned about how they would maintain the quality while serving so many more, but somehow they did it. Thanks to Zinc for a lovely evening."

  • "Dined at Zinc many, many times. Like the roominess of the new location. One of a kind restaurant in the Sandusky area. Will continue to patronize as long as I'm breathing."

  • "Once again, another great dinner at Zinc Brasserie! Every last detail at Zinc is always perfect...ambiance, presentation, food quality, wait staff... If you're looking for an outstanding night out, you will most certainly find it at Zinc!"

  • "We have enjoyed Zinc for years and touted it as the best restaurant between Cleveland and Chicago, but having spent an evening in their new location will never return again. The food is still good, the service was attentive, but the noise level was so high that we could not hear ourselves think. Skipped coffee and dessert just to get outside for some welcome relief. Advice to owners - get some wall hangings, cover tin ceiling with acoustic tile if you must, do something to lower the noise levels and dress up the place."

  • "Everyone needs to stop in Zinc to enjoy everything there!! Food, service, wine, ambiance... Wow!!"

  • "Love the new digs! Zinc has been a favorite for years, and the new facility takes a great kitchen and staff, and makes the entire operation even better. My wife had a spectacular (and large) cioppino. I had the steak frites, with the truffle flavored frites. Both entrees were exceptional. You all are continuing to improve upon excellence."

  • "I realize that they may be a learning curve since they moved into a new place The food was not as good as usual. The bartender at the casual bar was horrible. The accoutics are bad. It is very loud and you can't even hear what the waitress is saying let alone other people in your party."

  • "We returned here to celebrate Valentine's Day and we're not disappointed. The new location is lovely but also ver noisey. We miss the quietness and intimacy of the other location but this location should work out nicely for the owners. The food was amazing!! Each dish had its own unique taste explosion! So worth our 4 hour drive."

  • "My wife and I ate here on 2-1-14. Zinc has just moved into a new space and the atmosphere is really nice. Nice concept with the bar area and hearth tavern separate from the main dining room. Food and service were both very good, even on a packed Saturday night. Started the evening across the street at the Volstead Bar, a new speak-easy cocktail lounge. Walk across the street to Zinc for dinner & you have a winning combination."

  • "Great time, good food. I could have done without the high top table pressed up against the mirror but other than that it was great. We are already determining when to make the next reservation. Wish they were still open for lunch as I work downtown. Thank you! Can't wait to see the new location!"

The food was amazing as always. The service was just great as always. Thank you this was the best birthday gift she has got in some time she said."

  • "We met friends for dinner at the Zinc Brasserie in Sandusky. Food was excellent. When we first got there it was a little noisy since our table was right next to the bar but it eventually got quieter. We enjoyed a leisurely meal and were not rushed. Service was excellent. When we finally checked the time we had been there for over 3 hours. Great friends, great service, great food, and the time to savor them all....Priceless"

  • "Wonderful food. Have some small, tall tables unsuitable for a complete dinner. Should not be assigned to reservations without informing clients."

  • "Although the restaurant was packed full, the same great service and food was experienced. Only complaint was it was extremely noisy to the point we could not carry on a conversation. However, everyone was in a good mood, so it was like one big party."

  • "Food was excellent. The waitress was not. Took almost an hour to get our salads then screwed up the salad orders for all but 1 person at the table. Told us she would bring the missing items for the salads and never did. It didn't ruin the dining experience, but it was definitely sub-par regarding the wait staff."

  • "We looked forward to returning to this little restaurant with a very special touch. We didn't find it special this time. Fish was dry, overcooked, and bland. The waitress knew the people behind us and spend most of the time talking to them. We waited half hour for our drinks. When she asked about the meal, we told her it wasn't good. She said, "Oh." That was it. Would not go out of my way to go there again."

  • "We had a very enjoyable and peaceful evening at this restaurant. The menu is unique and diverse. The chef's complimentary special (a pumpkin soup) was fantastic. Serving sizes were enormous. Best French Onion Soup either of us have ever had and we order it often."

  • "Stopped in to enjoy one last dinner before wrapping up the boating season and was as please as always! Opted for seats at the bar and shared the space with 2 other couples. The bartender had great recommendations and was perfectly attentive while not overly invasive to customers time and space. The daily menu feature many items that were tempting but the Duck breast and Pork loin were selected and both were incredible. The duck was perfectly roasted to rare/medium rare and was paired with a great risotto with corn. Pork loin was also perfectly cooked and was plated over a great sauce that included an unusual and delicious blue cheese. Topped with a pile of great roasted mushrooms! They also maintain a great wine! Will definitely repeat!"

  • "Food and service were fabulous. Ambiance was not there for a romantic dinner. Way to noisy. Another party became loud and vulgar at the end of our dinner."

  • "Zinc Brasserie is the gold standard here in our neck of the woods as it was the first small, boutique eatery with a world class chef to open shop in what is now becoming a foodie destination in our area. I had dinner with my husband and another couple and as usual, Zinc did not disappoint. The wine was fabulous, the specials were unique, the food was amazing, and the service was great. What more could you want? If you're looking for an excellent meal, you will not be disappointed."

  • "This restaurant is very good, a nice meal and the atmosphere is very NYC not what you would expect from Sandusky, Ohio. It is important to note the the menu prices listed on Open Table are incorrect -- it's like $10 more expensive on each item - give or take. Which is fine but you should just be aware it's expensive, but worth it for a special nite out. My husband also loved the truffle salt no the French Fries (yes FF) but that made them special. Overall we are pleased."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary in Sandusky and wanted a nice place to eat. We found Zinc on Tripadvisor. We were very happy with the find. Very nice restaurant. Great food selection and wine list. Service was good too."

  • "Lovely restaurant along the waterfront in Sandusky, OH offering delicious, beautifully prepared food in a cozy setting. Not an inexpensive dining experience, but very high quality and perfect for a special occasion. The lobster bisque was particularly good, and the specials my husband and I ordered (duo of duck and crab-stuffed salmon) were both very good. I just wish we had room for dessert!"

  • "We were at a convention getting mass made food that left a lot to be desired. Found this gem online ans it was great - 15 minutes from the convention. Great food, inventive menu, good service and a scenic spot near the harbor."

  • "We always go to the Zinc for special occasions. Every plate has special appeal, and the blackboard menu gives one added features of the day, which helps expand a rather limited standard menu. It is a "grown up" restaurant, very refreshing. After raising 4 children, we don't wish to see parents struggling with babies when we go out. Chef Ceszare has energized downtown Sandusky with his vision of fine dining. We also enjoy the "Crush", his wine bar just across the street. Only wish they would be open for lunch again, but understand in order to continue to create the fine dining experience, hours have to be limited."
