A word from Zin American Bistro

Zin American Bistro is an attempt to modernize and Americanize the traditional French Bistro concept. With Zin recently receiving 3 ½ stars and a review of “quite possibly the best food for the money in the Coachella Valley” from author Peter Osbaldeston’s Palm Springs Dining Bible, Chef Nicolas… Klontz and wine director Mindy Reed have indeed raised the bar of casual fine dining in Palm Springs. Zin has over 200 wines on their list and has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 5 years. With choices from the Kobe Style Beef Burger ($16) and Mussels & Frites($18) to the Rabbit ($25) or a Prime Hanger Steak ($26) there is something for everyone. Be sure to save room for some house made desserts and a glass of port for a perfect finish. Attentive, friendly yet unobtrusive service with Wine Director Reed available to guide you thru her carefully selected wine list and Chef Klontz greeting diners personally between courses make dining at Zin a night to remember. "Service was excellent. My husband had the mussels as an appetizer & I had the vegetable tartar. The mussels were perfect! Just the right size and very tasty. Veggie tartar was very tasty also. For entrees we had the braised rabbit and the Belgium beef stew. The rabbit had good flavor but was a little dry. The beef stew was very good. The wine list was very reasonable. All in all a good restaurant."

"I had eaten inside here a few times before and enjoyed the experience.
This time I brought friends and my Husband. We were seated outside against the sidewalk whithout being asked if that was OK.
We usually enjoy eating outside, but it was chaotic and loud because the weekly Street Fair was on.
The food was so so, except for the fied oysters, which were amazing.
We are foodies, but I'm not so sure I would recommend this restaurant after this last visit."

"I had mussels in a coconut lemongrass broth that was too sweet and fries that were not great B-. Mushroom soup with truffle oil was a recipe said to be stolen from Johannas along with 2 others on the menu and it was really good A-. Tuna tare tare w/ avocado, also said to be stolen from Johannas was also good B+. Deep fried olives were not good,olives were un ripe and hard C-. Tinto (tapas fusion) is my top pick in Palm Springs, next is Johannas. People say Jakes is good and avoid Trio. If you are going to LA the hot new Peruvian restaurant Picca is NYC good!"

"My wife, mother and I had the worst dining experience of our lives at Zin.

We ordered the zucchini flowers - barely edible - small, limp and smothered in sauce. I ordered the hanger steak which was okay. My wife and mother ordered the Chicken Schnitzel. Both of them were not happy and claimed it was tough and flavorless. They decided to send them back and order something else. After no one came to take her order, my wife just asked for the bill. When the bill came, neither of the dishes sent back were taken off. The manager said the dishes were "half eaten" and we had to pay.

She promised to take one entree and the soup off the bill and asked for our credit card. She actually yelled at us for asking to have the bill corrected."

"Went on Easter Sunday..not always the best day to dine out . We are very happy with the quality and service at Zin. Make sure you sit on patio...shaded and private but with great people watching. Sunday's lunch featured a live music guitarist..relaxing and appropriate for a leisurely lunch in downtown PS.
Favorites- fried chicken- my 16 year old son said it was very good, Mussells- my 21 yr old daughter loved them! My husband ordered the beef stew he was hestitant when it came because it looked soupy and had very few vegetables in it but he said it was delicious. I ordered the macadamian chicken schnitzel--it was out of this world..light creamy sauce under thin pounded chicken breast. Zin is now on our top 10 list of desert eateries"

"The menu is very creative and varied, everyone loved their selections. A very nice wine list and the wine prices were very fair. The outdoor patio is wonderful in good weather, which is most of the time and the service was good, not great, but competent. We had a wonderful overall experience for a special occasion."

"We really enjoyed Zin. Everything we ordered was great and at a reasonable price. We sat on the patio during the Thursday evenings street fair so there was good people watching as well. We will be back on our next visit to Palm Springs."
