A word from Zero Zero
Zero Zero opened in 2010 inspired by Chef Bruce Hill’s dedication to farm driven ingredients, combined with his love for wood-fired pizzas that have been nicknamed “Calipolitan”. Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle named us the French Laundry of upscale pizza, and the readers of 7x7 Magazine voted us “Best Pizza in San Francisco”. In addition to pizza, our menu showcases housemade pastas, a variety of market-fresh appetizers, and artisan soft serve. We also have two big time bars with a selection of seasonal house cocktails, beers, and 12 wines on tap.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Definitely on my to-do list every time I visit SF. Strongly recommend the pasta dishes. Great wine, beer and spirit list. A bit crowded and noisy, but well worth it."

  • "Food was good-- very fresh-tasting house-made pasta with peas, great pizza with asparagus. A few downsides: it was extremely loud, even on a Sunday night, and the cocktail I ordered with rum and orgeat was full of crushed ice and lacking in flavor."

  • "The pizza is great but not the best thing on the menu. The appetizers, though, are amazing. The stuffed arancini are wonderful and the fried Brussels sprouts with Asian pear are one of the best things I've had in a long time. Finally, the dessert: unbelievable. Definitely go for the ricotta doughnuts. Server Carl was friendly and punctual, and I would definitely recommend to friends."

  • "We were 3 ladies dining before the theater and didn't want to eat heavy food, so we shared a salad, a pasta and a pizza. It was a fun dining experience. We had the chance to taste 3 different dishes and still had enough to fill satisfied and room for dessert. The dessert was ricotta donuts, delicious! Drinks were good, wine was great, our service was perfect!"

  • "Group celebration. Great server, ambience but pizza was just fair. Ingredients slide off when taking slice out of pan."

  • "Zero Zero is amazing. The drinks and pizzas are interesting and delicious. However, the best thing on the menu is the ricotta doughnuts! Save room for dessert and you will be happy that you did. You can get the doughnuts with soft serve ice cream and a plethora of delicious toppings. Amazing!"

  • "Hostess treat you right. I will say that the service took a hit from last year, but this is a very special place with a very special drinks and food menu. Suggest ordering any appetizer, the Columbus pizza, a single cocktail, and then spend your time plotting your dessert course. You will not be disappointed."

  • "They have delicious specialty thin crust pizzas. Light enough for one person to finish (if you have a good sized appetite). They are also perfect for sharing. I've tried 4-5 different pizzas of the menu and they have all be great. It's also great that they are open fairly late, relative to many places in SF or soma-specifically."

  • "Pizza was great and in my opinion well worth the price (although definitely not budget). There is also a large bar that you can wait at while your table is getting ready or if you are a small group you can eat at. Will definitely be going back!"

  • "I am in love with Picco pizzeria in Larkspur and when I found out they opened a second location in SF, I had to try. I got the potato pizza and it was delicious. Not quite the same, but this will do when I don't feel like the 15 mile trek north! Excellent food, excellent service. Will be surely back!"

  • "I was looking for a spot to have a quick lunch near my office with my husband, i'v read great reviews about zero zero and i liked their website and their menu so, i've booked a table! The room upstairs is dark, curtains to block the light at noon?!?!... Anyway, the atmosphere was not really good, the service was not bad but very slow (even the room was half empty..) so not a good deal if you're looking a spot for a quick lunch! We shared the crudo of the day, fresh tuna with lime and avocado puree (only one bite each, good but not very tasty) The avocado bruchetta and the slow cooked pork was ok but disappointing.. Maybe it's a better place for pizzas on a diner night! The big oven downstairs and the pizzas looked nice.."

  • "While the food was delicious. We enjoyed and devoured our pizza and salad, the wine choices left a bit to be desired. I wish the wines were a little more complex, and a little more food-friendly."

  • "Zero Zero is a nice place for a hip meal. Had the bruschetta avocado spicy salami to start. Then had the fried Brussels sprouts which is amazing. So tasty. Next was the caeser salad which was okay but the croutons was the highlight. Then my fav....margarita pizza. I love the simply taste of this pizza. Just tasty tomato sauce with cheese. Dessert was the warm chocolate cake with the vanilla chocolate swirl. So yummy. This place has great service. Had reservation at 9:15 but we were early and they managed to fit us right in. The table service is top notch. It's always popular and trendy place."

  • "Really good pizza crust! Slathered with butter. Yum. Good flavor combos."

  • "I am not a pizza person but they put pizza at whole new level at zero zero. The crust is light and fluffy. Toppings amazing. I am craving it since I left. Crab spaghetti was very tasty. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "Food, service and restaurant in general just wonderful. We will go back again, and again, and again!!"

  • "Went here randomly on a Sunday afternoon before the movies. The seasonal pizza was a delicious white pie with shaved asparagus, home made ricotta cheese, speck and an egg in the middle. Delicious! The special sandwich was kind of a pizza dough pocket sandwich with braised short ribs and pickled veggies. So good! All of it. Can't wait to come back and try more!"

  • "The food is good and the specials sometimes great. The place does get a bit noisy, cramped and service falls off. However, it is one of the few places near Moscone that tries to deliver value even if a bit pricey. The plates look as good as the food. The kitchen can sometimes make up for the front of the house and and others the service and the distraction of a large crowd just get in the way too much. I'd imagine that weekends and times with no conventions are better bets."

  • "I have been coming here for several years now. They continue to deliver a wonderful holistic dining experience. The spaghetti with crab was Devine. And the pizza, well, you can never go wrong :-). And you must save room for soft serve ice cream,"

  • "A reservation is a social contract. Seating 4 guests 30 minutes late, having the server delay 10 additional minutes, and giving them arancini as a concession is disrespectful at best. The duck rigatoni is *stellar*. The pizzas are delicious and a tad soggy: they should not flop when picked up, period."

  • "Went for brunch and really enjoyed my breakfast pizza. Great crust, nice toppings (not just your standard bacon and egg, it had a sunchoke puree, green onions, egg ... I'm not sure what else, but it was very good and I appreciated their creativity). My husband had an AMAZING chicken and waffles dish. Great coffee, cool ambiance, friendly service. They moved us upstairs at our request without any issue or attitude. Highly recommend for brunch and would definitely come back for dinner, when I bet it's a little louder and more lively. I think it would be fine to bring kids here, as long as you come on the earlier side."

  • "We come here a lot and have usually received good service. But the waiter with the captain hooks mustache was terrible. We had to ask for new plates with the pizza, for water, and waited a long time for the bill. He also forgot our boxed leftovers and after such a long wait for our bill, we forgot too. Not a pleasant dining experience."

  • "My group had a lovely time, we all enjoyed the food & service. Started with the huckleberry Twain's Twist, non-alcoholic cocktail, with Thai basil, and was quite refreshing. The fried chicken appetizer, delicious - great crunch! Dishes were family style, easy to share. The Panzella salad, yummy dressing & currants a nice touch. The fettucciini with mushroom fantastic, not too creamy, just right. Oak pizza, potatoes new fave pizza topping. Dessert was great fro-yo + chocolate cake, but I loved the Almond Cake with the cardamon ice cream - very unique. It became rather loud as the tables & bar filled up, so be prepared to speak loudly. The crowd was a mix of professionals, families and foodies. Prices reasonable!"

  • "Love this place! Great pizzas, salads, and everything always fresh out of the oven. Pizza crust is to die for. Most of the time I stick with my usual - the Fillmore - but really everything I've tried on the menu hasn't disappointed. The space is energetic, with a cool layout - lively bar area downstairs with some limited seating, then more intimate seating upstairs. If you live in the neighborhood, you should be stopping by here on a regular basis. *BONUS* The service and waitstaff here are great - really attentive, quick, responsive, and very friendly. All in all a great casual dining experience."

  • "Is the pizza the best I've eaten? No. Is it as good as the best pizzas I've eaten? Sure. I have to say the best part of the meal was the salad with the kimchi spice and the amaaaaaaaazing chocolate dessert! I think we need to come back and try more off the menu as it really is diverse and promises more delicious meals!!"

  • "We meandered over to the Zero Zero after happy hour. Very cute place. We ordered a couple of pizzas for us as we were kind of full. The server downright insisted that it was not enough food. The pizzas came quick. The Margharita was very good. The mushroom pizzas had tons of mushrooms. It was a little dry. We had leftovers, but if this was our first stop figure 2 pizzas for 3 people. For dessert we had the organic ice cream. It was very good. They had half servings for my kids. I would go back, but try to get a different server."

  • "Planned on coming for just dessert, but couldn't resist trying a new pizza - the oak. So delicious! Also had the Brussel sprouts with pear and pancetta. A marvelous blend of flavors for one of my favorite veggies! And of course, the magnificent dessert! We had vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and those lovely ricotta beignets. Look forward to doing dessert again!"

  • "After raving about the pizza to a friend, we were a bit let down by the Columbus pie. The crust is still fabulous- nice and salty and chewy. It is not the afterthought that so many are. Must be that 00 flour ! But sauce was meh and the salame was rubbery- not crisp as hoped for. I liked the arancini, crispy thin shell and gooey innards but my companion thought they lacked flavor. This was the second time I fell for the avocado bruschetta, while beautifully presented and tasty, it lacks pop and is, frankly, bland. Needs some cayenne or other pepper to zip it up a bit. The server and her helper were terrific, personable and considerate of our time and tastes. A refreshing change from the trend toward hi-ho waitstaff."

  • "The food at Zero Zero had fantastic flavor and the menu had a great variety. We loved the crab spaghetti, brussel sprouts in duck fat and bacon, the pizza and the bacon brittle with the ice cream sundae. Yummm!"

  • "The food was great. The service could have been a little more in the background. The table was romantic but a little too dark. We had to use the light from our iphone screen to read the tiny type on the menu."

  • "People will tell you the best pizza in the city is Delfina Pizzeria, but those people are sadly deluded. Zero zero is my favorite SF pizzeria: - The house pizzas: great, creative combinations that actually taste amazing rather than just being whacky. The fillmore is my favorite, but they are all great. - The crust: oh, lordy, the crust. Chewy, doughy, slightly sour, slightly burnt. Just enough tang to make you want to pick up another slice. - The bar! Really creative, high-quality cocktails."

  • "You can close your eyes and pick from the menu and you won't be disappointed. Complex flavor profiles fit for foodies and comfort food lovers alike. Personally love the arancini, squash blossoms, pork dumplings, they had this asparagus and egg thing once that was amazing. Get the duck pasta, but beware it has a little heat. Pairs perfectly with... The pizza is just about as good as it can get (neapolitan style). Usually just get a simple margherita and the special (which is often a bit more wild but always excellent). Wine and beer selection are terrific as well."

  • "Came here for lunch, restaurant pretty empty. Very cold greeting at front door by manager (?)/host. No smiles, no real interest in the fact that we were dining at Zero Zero. Tense vibe.... Food OK; Had terrible espresso, which I sent back once as it was totally watery w/ no crema what so ever! Waiter happily made a new one that was marginally better. Tasted like old coffee. If you are an Italian concept, you should be able to pull an espresso properly! Service pleasant, 50 bucks for 2 salads, chicken thighs and a weak espresso! Was a lot for a mediocre lunch."
