A word from Zero Zero
Zero Zero opened in 2010 inspired by Chef Bruce Hill’s dedication to farm driven ingredients, combined with his love for wood-fired pizzas that have been nicknamed “Calipolitan”. Michael Bauer of the San Francisco Chronicle named us the French Laundry of upscale pizza, and the readers of 7x7 Magazine voted us “Best Pizza in San Francisco”. In addition to pizza, our menu showcases housemade pastas, a variety of market-fresh appetizers, and artisan soft serve. We also have two big time bars with a selection of seasonal house cocktails, beers, and 12 wines on tap.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent service. At the moment, the construction on 4th means walking here took a small detour, but definitely worth it. We brought home a frozen pizza which we look forward to trying."

  • "Outstanding food, service. Had to use all my restraint not to order a second pizza. Noisy, but you can catch about 60% of the conversation, which leaves plenty of time for your mind to wander."

  • "Great introduction to SoMa dining at Zero Zero. Arugula and strawberry salad tasted just picked and Market pizza sported fresh, tasty vegetables too. Love the wines on tap (very drinkable). Attentive, friendly service."

  • "This restaurant hits every mark for our family! Always welcoming, fabulous service, excellent food, great cocktails!"

  • "The food was great!!! We had the margherita pizza, Cesar salad and soft serve vanilla with the olive oil and salt with the brownie! Yum!!! The way you order deserts is so cool!!! Love it!!!"

  • "The food was very good. It may have been our fault, but we didn't tell the waitress we were going to the Giants game. Anyway, they spaced out the food so much that we needed to leave before our pizza arrived. We ended up having it boxed up to go. Net, plan on allowing lots of time. The food is worth it, though."

  • "My parents were visiting, so I took them out to dinner at this fine Italian restaurant. It was a little cramped and very loud, but the food was great. The waiter recommended "family style," ordering two appetizers, an entree, and a pizza, all to share. Everything was great, and that was just enough for all three of us to be full. We had a bit of a hard time hearing each other, though."

  • "We love the pizza at Zero Zero, but increasingly find the upstairs tables uncomfortable. Even though I requested to be downstairs, we were seated upstairs. The 2 ladies next to us were loud but eating dessert. Unfortunately their dessert lasted as long as our pizza. The couple on the other side were inaudible. We ate quickly and left."

  • "I ended up reserving a table here twice in 2 weeks. That should say it all. But, the pizzas really are delicious, and the arugula salad which is huge is also very good. My little nephews and niece also loved the food... we came for brunch and though I was worried about how the restaurant would react to kids, it was fine. The staff was courteous and didn't make us feel less welcome because we had little kids 5 and under with us. The fried chicken and waffles were a hit."

  • "We all agreed the food was delicious! We plan on returning soon."

  • "Took my family from out of town for a delightful brunch. Every brunch dish was delicious. I had the french toast, which was heavenly. Fried chicken and waffles scored very highly, too. Also, cocktails! Yet kid-friendly. Perhaps what was best was that it was not mobbed, plenty of room upstairs to enjoy our meal and company."

  • "The wonderful pizzas and great salads make this a fun place to take a small group. The crust is like no where else. The staff is accommodating and very knowledgeable."
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "My favorite part about this restaurant is the soft serve...yummy! Please try the more non-conventional toppings, you won't be disappointed - olive oil and sea salt as well as strawberries and balsamico were my favs."

  • "The deep fried french toast was amazing. If you're looking for a quiet place for brunch Zero Zero is great. Few good brunch places in SF accept reservations."

  • "food pretty good. server not very pleasant - surly and a bit arrogant in fact. don't think i'll return or recommend to friends - many better places in the neighborhood"

  • "I have tried to eat this place a few time before and finally got the reservation. This place totally worth the waiting. Their fried chicken and pizzas are very delicious!"

  • "We really enjoyed both our salad and pizza. The salad had beets, burata, and amazing dressing. We did the prosciutto pizza which was also great and so fresh. We sat upstairs and our server was 5 minutes off everything she did. Drinks, taking our order, second round of drinks, and dessert. By the end, we were fed up and just skipped dessert even after filling out the sundae checklist. Lastly, the hostess appeared super annoyed that we asked to sit one table over. To summarize, great food but restaurant needs to better manage staff "

  • "Aside from the chicken and waffles, which are still solid, I thought the rest of the menu left a lot to be desired, including the pizza. The avocado bruschetta was dry and came as a big slab of bread, making it difficult to cut and eat. The soup was over-spiced and had to be sent back."

  • "this place is fantastic. everything you order is delicious from drinks to salads to dessert. service is amazing. I've never had a bad experience here. "

  • "Loved everything we ordered, especially the deconstructed pork belly dumplings!"

  • "Outstanding cocktails, excellent food. We loved the squash blossoms and creative, fresh crudo salad. The pizza was very, very good, as usual. "

  • "if you like pizza for the creative toppings, then come to zero zero. it's a popular spot, but quite delicious. make reservations, or you will be eating at the crowded bar!"

  • "I have been to Zero Zero 2 times before, even held a big party with their party menu, and both experiences were pleasant. But this time I was disappointed, the pizzas were extra salty, and the service were very slow, and the bill even came before our last dishes were served, I find that rude. I'm still deciding if I want to go back again, but I really think there are other restaurants that has better pizza and service than this place. "

  • "All of our salads and appetizers were fantastic - the strawberry arugula salad in particular was incredible, the strawberries were some of the most juicy and flavorful I've ever had. Both of the bruschettas were also delicious, the avocado being my favorite, though they were a little difficult to cut neatly. Pizzas took a while to arrive after appetizers, but it was worth the wait!"

  • "The food was very good, nice wood fired pizzas with good quality toppings. Unfortunately this restaurant insists on playing loud music so you have to shout at your dining companions. I am not saying I want to eat in a library, atmosphere in a restaurant is nice, but having the music and everyone shouting really spoiled my experience "

  • "Definitely going back and bringing friends. Spectacular menu and cocktails were superb. Service was great! thank you zero zero"

  • "This restaurant is a great place for couples and small groups. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was fresh and very good. Only thing I would have changed would have been the lighting. It is quite dark inside. Luckily we sat near a window. "

  • "Delicious thin-crust pizzas - don't miss the brunch with the soft egg - so incredible! We love all the dishes and food here, and the cocktails are wonderful. It's a Sunday tradition and we even had our post-wedding brunch here with family."

  • "Had reservation and made to a wait for our time while they sat walk-ins and every table except two were empty! Horrible hostess eventually attempted to give us the worst table in the restaurant. When we declined she acted even more rudely. Spoke with the manager who was apologetic and seemed not surprised. Tip: the hostess lacks customer service skills and doesn't like people -shes's in the wrong job! The food was good. We had pizza (of course) and shared a salad. The wine selection allows everyone to pick something they will like. However, with so many options in SF there is no need to go to Zero Zero if they can't get the service part fixed and ASAP. "

  • "My wife and I went to Zero Zero Sunday evening for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant is busy and lively, most tables were full and the bar was hopping. Our server was attentive although he was quite busy. Our drinks came rapidly and, although my dark & stormy was good, it tasted different from any one that I had had in the past. The caesar salad was excellent and plenty for two to share. We also had a very good pizza with hen of the woods mushrooms which was excellent. The vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce that we shared for dessert was outstanding. We will go back."

  • "Zero Zero has amazing pizzas, delicious appetizers (get the arancini!) and solid cocktail list. It's really loud, so if you go know that you'll be talking over the din. But the food is amazing, it's got a fun energetic vibe and I'll be going back asap. "

  • "I ate at Zero Zero for a first date with a gentleman off of Tinder and he was running late, so I waited and enjoyed the company of the hostess(es). We were seated upstairs by the window and chose The Castro pizza, which was delicious! My only qualm is that there's no pizza sizes and just one size from what I recall. As much as the food was superb, the waiter (a cute ginger-brown headed fella), and the environment was light and airy, my date was kind of like a one-man show doing a monologue of a quizzical ADD young adult that just moved to SF. Despite the disinterest in a second date with this man, I'd definitely return to Zero Zero for any food occasion."

  • "Had a delicious lunch there! Easy to get to from SoMa."

  • "The service was good, but we arrived early (5:30 PM) with reservations. The Ceasar salad and pizza crust were very good, but the Fillmore pizza tasted bland as if ingredients were missing. The ecoustics were poor and it was very noisy upstairs."

  • "A SOMA hidden gem; great pizza and sandwiches and a hot spot for lunch; can't wait to go back and try it for dinner!! Everything was extremely and fresh and care was put into everything!"
    Dined on 4/23/2014
  • "As the planner of our 7-party group, I was highly disappointed that we were seated at a semi-circle booth so large that we had to literally shout if we wanted to talk to someone not sitting directly next to us. Additionally, the booth faced the kitchen, so although our hungry bellies loved gazing at the food (and there was no way to compete with the restaurant noise level and our seating arrangement to converse, seriously), it just wasn't an optimal view when you're trying to have a nice dinner with friends. Other than that, the food was decent and donuts for dessert were mouth-watering. I'd likely go back again, but not with a group larger than two or three. "

  • "Food was good-- very fresh-tasting house-made pasta with peas, great pizza with asparagus. A few downsides: it was extremely loud, even on a Sunday night, and the cocktail I ordered with rum and orgeat was full of crushed ice and lacking in flavor."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "The pizza is great but not the best thing on the menu. The appetizers, though, are amazing. The stuffed arancini are wonderful and the fried Brussels sprouts with Asian pear are one of the best things I've had in a long time. Finally, the dessert: unbelievable. Definitely go for the ricotta doughnuts. Server Carl was friendly and punctual, and I would definitely recommend to friends."

  • "Definitely on my to-do list every time I visit SF. Strongly recommend the pasta dishes. Great wine, beer and spirit list. A bit crowded and noisy, but well worth it."

  • "We were 3 ladies dining before the theater and didn't want to eat heavy food, so we shared a salad, a pasta and a pizza. It was a fun dining experience. We had the chance to taste 3 different dishes and still had enough to fill satisfied and room for dessert. The dessert was ricotta donuts, delicious! Drinks were good, wine was great, our service was perfect!"
