A word from Zenkichi
Zenkichi quietly entered the scene in late 2006 in a then up and coming Williamsburg food scene. The unique cuisine and dining experience have had restaurant goers and critics catching on ever since. The restaurant offers semi private tables for all of its customers and Tokyo-style Japanese
…
cuisine. The focus is on small plates for sharing and tasting with sake. The menu emphasizes Omakase (chef's tasting menu) which changes every five weeks to incorporate the freshest ingredients of the season. The sake selection includes over 50 kinds of carefully chosen premium sake labels. Zenkichi continues to evolve with a recently added garden. The space is inspired by a Japanese mountain retreat with a glass ceiling that incorporates two 50 year old trees. Which expands the seating space and adds a new dynamic to the already unique décor. Michelin Guide:...a space that feels wonderfully cozy and intimate. A return to the outside world will have you planning your next trip.

"
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner. Each setting is a private table with a small curtain that draws up and down to be served. The atmosphere is very private with dark wood and intimate lighting and seating. We order the Premium sake tasting which was wonderful. They have authentic sake here without the added water and alcohol that most places have, it's definitely worth getting. We order 7 dishes to share, all of which were great. The most enjoyable were the pork belly, lamb chops, shrimp/fishcake tempura, beef tataki, and chicken wings. All of the food was well prepared and served with the right texture and temperature. The food can get pricey, but if you're prepared for that, then the food is definitely worth it. Great service.

Enjoyed the 8-course tasting menu with a premium sake tasting. The design of the restaurant was quite unique, I've never been to Tokyo but I'm guessing this is what a restaurant might look like over there. Loved the ambiance! The preparation and ingredients is top notch. My only complaint regarding the food was that my duck course was cooked a little too much for my preference. The cod, whitefish with broccoli rabe, and monkfish livers were phenomenal! I also appreciate the fact that they do not serve wine, with the exception of champagne, to encourage their guests to experience quality sake. I work as a sommelier but honestly knew nothing about sake....it's time for me to learn!

upon check-out, they did not take opentable dining cheque. also, the waitress accused that we did not leave enough money, mistook $50 for $40, which was unpleasant experience at the end.

We went for fine in Brooklyn and the menu pales in comparison to their omakase but that is expected. Only wished the server spoke more English and didn't seem so rushed, still he was very nice.

A fantastical dining experience beginning with a candle lit maze of bamboo walls, stone pathways, and mirrors, followed by a private booth with a retractable screen. The impressive ambiance is sure to excite, but the menu steals the show. Save room for dessert, and don't skimp on saki; this might be the best you've ever had.

Always an amazing experience - you must try the Omakase menu. The ambiance is private and perfect for a special meal. Staff is extremely helpful in helping you create pairings. And their sake menu must be seen - one of the best!

Zenkichi is definitely intimate and romantic spot. A prime location to bring your significant other, but not somewhere I would bring my mom for her birthday.
We ordered the early spring omakase with a large bottle of premium sake. Some will complain that the portions are small, but I left satisfied and euphoric, while my date couldn't finish every last morsel(luckily, it meant more for me). Every single course was delicious. Subtle while flavorful. Even their miso soup had depth and complexity. The homemade tofu and monkfish liver were exceptionally amazing.
Wonderful service as well. The waitress would only appear when prompted by a bell. They even called me to warn me that the L was not running that day.
