Diner Reviews
  • "This place gives you taste of something new! Ive never tried some of the food before and when i tried it here at Zengo for the first time, i was really immpressed. The food was delicious! The cheesecake was a work of art. I liked the idea where you can order small plates to taste and share. Our server Nikki was very nice and friendly. I had a great time! I would come back here in a heart beat!"

  • "Really great food somewhat disrupted by an endless parade of wait staff whisking plates off the table at ever opening, include twice confiscating unfinished plates. Chill out a little please."

  • "We dine at Zengo at least three times a year and we have never had a disappointing meal. We enjoy their regulars such as the Thai empanadas and arepas but also look forward to when they offer new items on their "test kitchen" menu. This time we tried the pad thai from the test kitchen menu as well as the spicy siam cocktail. The cocktail was good but fairly spicy so if you like spice give it a try. The pad thai was light and flavorful. We also love the modern mexican dessert - one of our standbys!"

  • "A great place to go if you are adventurous and looking for something different in food. Asian/Latin American is not something you see every day, but the combination makes great flavors."

  • "I dined in a group of 4, and all of us loved it. My wife and I had been there several times, but this was the first time for the other couple. I love the different type of food you can get at Zengo and now that I am Gluten Free, I really enjoy the GF menu and options."

  • "We were headed to a music event and found the service and food at the bar to be both delicious, but quick, also. We had the incredible lump crab over guacamole along with a taco. Put a couple of margaritas with that and you have a wonderful pre-concert dinner! Zengo's the place!"

  • "Obviously, there is no real chef here. Just a gimmick to get people in the door. Owner has about 20 other restaurants around the country, so clearly each is not a focus. Our food was too sweet and expensive. There are many great restaurants in downtown Denver, so there is no reason to waste your money and evening here. This place caters to the masses, which explains why it gets good reviews with some. But if you want a good and authentic meal don't waste your time here. Also, a man two tables down was cursing extremely loudly and appeared to be encouraged by a restaurant employee."

  • "I went with a few friends to Zengo for a late dinner Saturday night. Our waitress was amazing giving us suggestions on what plates to order. We split 3 small plates and drank the speciality cocktails that were great! We had a great time! Will be going back!"

  • "Had a small customer dinner on a weeknight and it couldn't have been better. Our waiter was beyond excellent. He took care of our table and our guest with allergies SO well. Can't say enough about his service. Food was so good we couldn't decide what we liked the best, hot rock, tacos, sashimi, edamame..... we will be back!"

  • "This is my 6th time I believe going here. I tried several of the test kitcen food and the Panna Cotta for dessert was delicious. As always the chicken empanadas are the best! I also tried the tuna salad and that was nothing special. Drinks were delicious: Monday Mojitos for $5. I got the blueberry blackberry special and it was pretty good. My sister got the guava mojito and she said there wasn't enough guava flavor."

  • "I've been to Zengo 4 or 5 times with my wife, and we've always been pleased with our food and service. We typically get 4 or 5 of the small plates to share. There is a great mix of flavors! Prices are a little high, but not terrible. They have a very nice happy hour with reasonably priced drinks and small plates."

  • "we visited Zengo again this past week with some newer friends, and had another very good experience. the small plate format is so good for sharing, and the portions are just right. each offering is enough to get a good taste, but small enough that we get to have several tastes during the meal. Richard and the staff continue to tweak the menu to good effect. the wine list was fine, and our service was attentive without being intrusive."

  • "Always a great dining experience at Zengo. The service is excellent and helpful. The food prepared perfectly every time. And the drink selection is greta and varied and the staff is well informed and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "One word to describe my experience at Zengo; disappointment. I moved away from Denver and recently came back to visit my family. I was raving to my boyfriend about how amazing Zengo is and that it's definitely a go-to spot when visiting Denver. I thought our experience would be amazing. Boy, was I wrong. We went to Zengo during brunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was moderately busy. We ordered the bottomless brunch. We didn't get all of the dishes we ordered, the waitress seemed to forget about them, while the larger table next to us got every single item they ordered. I don't know why it's easier to cater to a party of 8 versus a party of 2. Needless to say, we will not be coming back."

  • "Loved our visit. Great service, great recommendations on food and overall a very nice experience. Favs were Chilaquilles and the waffle. Bloody Mary was a little shrimpy tasting but overall everything was great!"

  • "I took my visiting parents here after 8pm on the last day of Restaurant Week. I was especially impressed that all the staff was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. The food we had was very good to excellent and we all were pleased with the experience."

  • "The bar area is very lively and looks great for singles (I'm not single, but one can observe). The food was unique and some tasted super good and some okay; nothing bad though. Very daring for a restaurant. Nicki was our waiter and was really good. She didn't hover but was always there just when you needed her. I have to say that the "library" of menus is silly. Why can't menus be simple. We were brought four menus and we were four people so that 16 menus on one little table, along with glasses, etc. Then you forget what is on which menu, its a mess. Hey Chef Sandoval, work on that, really. Overall a great experience. Oh, pretty loud in there."

  • "Awesome dining experience. Everything we had was fantastic."

  • "We just were not that impressed with Zengo's. The food was just okay and our waiter was pretty horrible. He took almost 30 minutes to find out about a wine and didn't take everyone's drink order at the same time. I finally got to order my drink when he brought the rest of the drink orders to the table. He also completely forgot our orders halfway through the meal. As for the food, the Ancho bacon and eggs, the steamed buns, churros and the sushi rolls were excellent. Everything else was just mediocre including the salmon benedict, meatballs, plantains, waffle, tofu, and a few others. We expect more out of a restaurant in this price range. We won't be back because Denver has too many restaurants with awesome food and much better service."

  • "This restaurant is very chic and modern, yet warm and welcoming. A very busy place, yet the experience is made your own by the atmopshere, the service, and the many different kinds of food you get to experience. High-recommended! Prices are a little steep, but that's why you do 5280!"

  • "Zengo has been on the corner of the Millenium Bridge and Little Raven, originally all alone, but surviving there for ten years, for a reason - it's delicious, consistent, fun, energetic, creative, and beautiful."

  • "We dined at Zengo during Restaurant week but also have a couple of appetizers off the main menu. The edamame with XO sauce was excellent with a balanced blend of spice and other seasonings--a burst of yumminess on the tongue. The pork arepas were also very good, though the meat tended to fall off the corn meal disc, leaving you with 1 bite full of flavor, and 1 bite that is on the bland side. The angry Zengo roll was good (nothing overly exciting) as was the cedar salmon. The food was very good; our server struck that good balance of being attentive without being annoying, though he was a bit odd. I would come here again. Not my absolute favorite in Denver, but a worthy contender for a night out."

  • "Had a wonderful experience dining in the private back room where the volume was significantly reduced though still energetic. The service was outstanding and the staff was very knowledgeable and accomodating about food allergies (in my case gluten). The food was spectacular and unique. I will be dining here frequently and will be recommending this gem to all of my friends."

  • "Enjoyed our dining experience but waited in the Bar for over an hour waiting to be seated and we had reservations. I was astonished when our drinks arrived while waiting at the bar and they were so full of ice that I literally got 4 sips from them. A total rip off. When I kindly brought this up to the bar waitress she was less than helpful and said next time to order with light ice. Hmmmmm?"

  • "Was very underwhelmed with Zengo. For the price and location, it could be way better. The service was off. The Salmon was way overcooked. There was a hair on my plate and they didn't even apologize. The server never came back to the table to ask us how the food was and tried to rush us out before we were finished with dessert. Was told they had gluten free options. Sweet chili sauce from the bottle is not an acceptable sauce substitution for a restaurant of this caliber. If your chef cannot make a gf sauce, don't advertise gf options. I don't think I'll be returning back."

  • "Looked for a unique place for a wonderful first date, and found it at Zengo. Promptly seated at an excellent table, knowledgeable wait staff. Excellent lamb and the mahi , fantastic. Had one of the best nights of my life, though that may have been the company as well :-) only draw back is a limited wine list, though the tempranillo by the glass was still good."

  • "Mix of Asian and Mexican was interesting but not entirely successful in all dishes. We went during Restaurant Week and were pleasantly surprised by the quantity of food. Not to say the amount was overwhelming, but sometimes this is an excuse to cut portion size."

  • "Great food and service, just a little to vibrant on the noise level ."

  • "We loved the food and the restaurant, but our server was either bored with her job or hungover. She didn't want to be bothered to put our food in and walked away before we were done ordering."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner at Zenga - the food was fantastic and my usually picky teen ate every bite! The portions were great for sharing everything and came out hot. The service was good and given the Denver Restaurant Week crowd, it did not feel like we were being ignored or rushed. The only complaint was that we were seated behind the hostess stand (nicely barricaded) but the draft from the front door opening was very cold. Thank you also for the free valet."
