Diner Reviews
  • "We eat out a lot like New Yorkers, so here's out take. It's a chain but we keep coming back. Food - interesting, unique, one of those places you go here to try new cultural idea dishes in unusual ways. best is salmon and XO edamame. They recently changed part of the menu and new steak menu item is much better than the old hanger steak option. TK test kitchen options always fun to try. Can get lots of small things rather than entrees as an option. Service - CJ was best staff service we've had. Very attentive and seemed passionate about work there. Definite change from the less than passionate wait staff in the past. Atmosphere - lively, energetic, good for groups or just dates which is why we go. Overall - would go again for sure"

  • "I enjoy the fun food to share with others. Portions are small, but it is fun to order a bunch of appetizers to share. Cucumber mojito was great!"

  • "I have been to zengos a few times and I love the interesting food but it is so expensive for what you get. The dinners didn't even come with sides and the portions were small."

  • "The range of small sharing dishes are varied, all tasty and keep coming with a pace the belies the popularity of their brunch special. You can happily munch, chat and drink and a couple of hours have past and all for $25 a head or $35 with unlimited cocktails. The fun experience starts with the enthusiastic greeters, and continues with the skilful waiting staff. Highly recommended if you want a couple of hours quality time with your older children so that you can catch up on their news. This is such a great Downtown asset."

  • "I went for bottomless brunch and was kind of disappointed. I got the passion fruit mimosa and there was barely any juice, it was mostly sparkling wine. Same goes for zengo mimosa. For food, my favorite brunch plates were the steamed buns and the fried tofu. Those were really good. I also tried the rolls, hash, waffles, ceviche, chilaquiles, and some others. They were okay, but not something I would order again."

  • "This is easily our favorite restaurants in Denver. We had one bad experience many visits ago, and that waiter is no longer there. Everyone else here is very friendly and the service is outstanding. The food is THE BEST. Gotta get the XOXO Edamame and the Miso Soup every time. Love the tuna tacos, empanadas, and really everything else on the menu. We love to just order a lot of appetizers and a salad, or share an entree, and get to try a little of everything. We've had at least 6 different waiters serve us now there, which we still see every time, and they're all so great, with excellent suggestions of new things to try."

  • "We have been to Zengo several times, and it does not disappoint! The short ribs are the go to dish, as well as the Angry Zengo Roll for an appetizer. The other apps/small plates and the signature drinks are great as well. The only issue this time was the fact that the short ribs were slightly overdone. However, the sauce and mashed potatoes made up for it this time. Our server, Greg, was hilarious and we had a great time with him."

  • "Love this place for ease of access!!! Food is delicious and beautiful. Wait staff always great!"

  • "Loved the food. It was our anniversary. Ordered asparagus tacos waiter asked if we wanted more tortillas. Said yes and we're charged additional for them. Really?"

  • "To start, the AC was out, which wasn't their fault, but the hostess should have said before seating us. The food, which was in their control, was not much better than the atmosphere. The ceviche had peanuts bigger than the scallops; a little unbalanced to say the least. They were 'out' of two dishes we wanted to order...only to see them being served a while later to other tables. Not impressed with this visit."

  • "Bought a TravelZoo coupon, which was a great deal. Food has very interesting flavors, tried both ceviches, which were good. Having just come back from Peru, we prefer the traditional ones, but always up for trying something new. Empanadas were great, as was the ahi salad. Table next to us had the guac with lump crab and the cook it yourself beef and they were very happy with their choices. Fun restaurant, great waitress, valet parking, it was all good"

  • "This was our third time at Zengo, and our experience was not as great as it has been before. After about 15 minutes our ceviche had still not been delivered. Our server apologized and the manager gave the ceviche to us on the house, it sounded like some sort of miscommunication in the kitchen (totally understandable - it happens). After that it went downhill. Our waters sat empty for 10-15 minutes at a time. Our server was no where to be found for long periods of time. The restaurant was not busy but we waited nearly 15 minutes to order dessert after receiving a menu. After that it took about 20 minutes to settle the bill. Overall, the food is great and I love the restaurant, but the service we received on this visit was not good."

  • "We had an incredible meal at Zengo!! The food was fabulous (we had four appetizers/small plates that were more than enough for two people). Highly creative, great atmosphere!"

  • "Excellent service and food- if you love the shared plate idea, this place is for you. All of the shared plates (from empanadas to asparagus tacos) are delicious and filling! Great margaritas as well! I'll definitely be back."

  • "It's been a while since we've eaten at Zengo, and the menu looks very different, somehow breathing new life into the term fusion. The arepas, empanas, and tiraditos were fantastic. On the patio, our server was less than engaged, and we had to rely on his colleagues to chase down basics like silverware and napkins, long after the food came. We asked our server to add pieces to the tiraditos (his idea) only to find out when they came that the additional pieces weren't added. The crowning mistake came when my spouse ordered a second shot of top-shelf tequila, only to have our server bring out something that was decidedly lower grade. Did someone think we wouldn't notice? It wasn't busy enough on the patio to account for the mistakes."

  • "I have been eating at Zengo almost since it started. The food and service is always excellent. Attentive serving people and consistent quality in the dishes. If it ain't broke, why fix it?"

  • "My husband and I like to try new restaurants as they open around the city and sometimes they are great and sometimes they dissappoint. When we want to make sure we have a great meal we go to our standby ZENGO! We love the menu, the drinks, the service and the location. You never can go wrong with this restaurant! XO edamame, wonton tacos, and the angry ZENGO roll all a must try!"

  • "We loved everything about the bottomless brunch! Multiple bottomless mimosas flavors to try (guava was my favorite) and great breakfast creations. I loved that the food takes the Zengo spin on breakfast. Not your typical pancakes and waffles, Zengo's are something out of this world!! So good I can't wait to go again."

  • "Even though Zengo is running at 10 plus years, it still rates as one of my favorite restaurants. The quality of food and service is always top notch and the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. They change up an already first class menu enough to make it worth coming back to over and over again. For our latest visit, I tried the new Curry Pork Chops selection. It was absolutely the best pork chop dinner I have ever had at a restaurant. Simply unbelievable!"
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "Zengo's has a wonderful brunch menu. There really is something for everyone. The wait staff asked is we had any allergies which was so helpful because I have been diagnosed Celiac and she offered items that are gluten free as well as menu items they can make gluten free. The brunch cocktails are outstanding and the patio refreshing."

  • "They had a DJ for brunch and too loud to even talk at table. Trying to make the place a disco. Took 40 minutes to get my food even when friend at the same table got his two plates in five minutes. Service was friendly but they seemed lost. No going back"

  • "So glad to find a new restaurant in Denver that can offer surprising and delicious menu items while still hosting a fun atmosphere! This is our new favorite restaurant over Cubacuba, the old Samba Room & all of the restaurants in the Highlands! "

  • "While I haven't glanced at other reviews on Open Table, I'm sure that the majority opinion shares my enthusiasm for Zengo. What a fantastic restaurant! Chic and energetic, my party for three received excellent service, great cocktails, and some of the best food I've eaten in some time (the Wagyu Beef is worth every penny of its steep $11/oz. price tag). You won't regret the experience! Tip for newbies: if you go for happy hour, don't ask for a regular table. Some sections are ineligible for happy hour deals, which is the one mild inconvenience we encountered along the way. "

  • "From drinks to dessert, everything was amazing! They're small plates so order to share. The empenadas were my fav if I had to choose and the Mexican chocolate bar (a snickers basically) was to die for! We'll definitely be back. "

  • "Apathetic server ruined what was otherwise a great dinner. Drinks took forever, the 2nd round came after dinner. His knowledge of the special testing plates was confusing and irritating. We passed as a result. "

  • "Looking over their brunch menu, I decided to take a friend to Zengo to start off her birthday. We took advantage of the Bottomless food and drink option, a fantastic value for the variety of delicious food and brunch cocktails! We had the luxury of trying nearly everything on the menu. Though we ended up playing table Tetris from time to time, we liked some small dishes and absolutely loved most of them. We will definitely be back in the future!"

  • "Food was creative and delicious, and we loved our waiter. The shrimp and bacalao spring rolls and the tempura asparagus tacos were the highlights, and everything g was great. Presentation was fine but not up to the new foodie standard, and the bus/water server was a total dufus who just had no idea what he was doing. "

  • "Our group, composed of members from all over North America, has eaten at Zengo 4 times while attending a meeting in Denver. It never disappoints, and seldom repeats. The repeat we all love is the edamame. The service staff are bright, helpful, attentive, and often funny. The food is superb. It is a great place to take a group, and get to taste a number of dishes."

  • "Nothing special about the food/drinks. The real issue was service. Everyone but our waitress was great. She, as my daughter said, had a pewey attitude. She came to the table and said "hello, my name is __, I want to remind you that we are strictly enforcing out 2 hour maximum.." Terrible way to start and a real fail at reading the audience. A better approach might be a reminder at the 1.5 hour mark. Her attitude never rebounded. At one point my wife said she must be a mother and be mad about working and my daughter was afraid to talk to her. We tipped her 20% because it was the right thing to do but will never return nor will I recommend. also, please note that the restaurant does not carry any non-dairy alternatives to milk/cream. "

  • "So we spent 5 hours there but it wasn't because there were any issues. We arrived at 5pm to kick off happy hour. We asked for a wine expert to help us with a good bottle of wine to start. The selection was outstanding! We talked, opened gifts, had an appetizer and before we knew it, the time for our reservation had arrived. We were taken to our table and studied the various selections. We all had something different but because the way it is served, we could all share. Our allergy issues (glutin and fish) were addressed by a very knowledgable waiter. The evening was topped off with beautifully presented deserts. By the way, they are a short walk from Union Station, which is great when you want to avoid driving!)"

  • "We went there on their "patio party" night and it was crowded and noisy, as to be expected. The staff did as much as they were able and were very accommodating. The food is great and it's a very vibrant spot!! Will definitely go again on a non-patio party night!"

  • "The staff, from the hostess to the busboys were friendly and courteous. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very interesting and really tasty. The daicon tacos were especially good. We shared the pork chop - very good."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Zengo for prom dinner on May 3rd. I never heard of the place until I researched for great restaurants in LoDo. It really caught my eye because of the cuisine it has. We walked in and the hostess was so nice to us. Our waiter was CJ. If you go to Zengo request CJ!!! He is the best server I have ever had. He makes the best Arnold Palmers and he did a FANTASTIC job at explaing what everything on the menu was. My girlfriend even said he was amazing. We were gonna give him a 20% tip. Which wouldve been about $7. We instead gave him $10 because he was amazing!"

  • "I really enjoy the food here. I went for my Pre-Prom dinner, service was reasonable, food was fantastic as always. The only negative I can say is that as most other fancy it is very expensive for very little food. In all it's perfect for great tasting food, not a good place if you're actually hungry. (everyone in my party stopped at McDonalds on the way to the dance cause no one way remotely satisfied, sort of a downer with a nearly forty dollars per person "meal")"
