Every restaurant that keeps
inventing new ways of expanding fusion definition deserves some extra credit. This place located literally around the corner from the South Beach action serves very interesting, tasty and innexpensive (considering touristy location) Asian inspired fare. Everything we had: ribeye, spicy tuna (on delicious crispy rice), tuna tata and tempura were simply delicious...to the point that we had to order more of two latter items. We also had a prosciutto based roll flavored with truffled oil - one of the most inventive rolls I've ever tried. And finally, the most impressive part of our dinner was impeccable service: friendly and very attentive. Great place for an outdoor meal."

Great food for a very reasonable
price! We were a group of 7 and sat next to the pool, which was a beautiful atmosphere. The food came out at different times and we were missing a couple of sides, but the server took the items off the bill and brought some free sushi as compensation which made up for it."

We went with a party of 6 on a
Saturday. We were seating and greeted quickly and we quickly placed in our drink order. The waitress seemed more interested in our plans after than taking the order. After about 15 minutes after we ordered the drinks we ordered the food. About an hour later we went to the manager to see why we had still not gotten our drinks yet. After an hour and 15 minutes we finally got some of our drinks. We got a bottle of sake but no glasses. Food slowly began coming out after an hour and a half. The place wasn't very crowded and the bar was completely empty. After another 30 minutes the final meals came out after continously going to the manager to ask whats going on. The food was at least very good."

i was very impress with the level
of attentive service by Andrew and his collegues. our valentine's night went flawless. i would have suggestions on the selection of the set menu, very good some and other pairings could have been different."

Zen Sai is the restaurant of the
Essex House hotel in South Beach. The entire staff is attentive, friendly, and enhances the dining experience! We ordered many different dishes - fried bok choy (wow), edamame, garbanzo spring rolls with cilantro curry cream (my favorite discovery), fingerling potatoes, Jalapeno Yellow Tail, grilled organic chicken and ribeye with balsamic teriyaki, chili garlic and serrano vinaigrette sauces. Absolutely everything was delicious. For dessert we had bread pudding, dipped in waffle batter and fried and then served with vanilla ice cream. Overkill? Yes. Could've served 4-6 people. But it was divine!"

Great menu the food was very
unique and awesome taste."

We sat down by 8:30PM and were
very well received by the host and the bar woman. We placed our order and the first appetizer took about half an hour to be delivered. 3 other appetizers were missing and after more 30 minutes we canceled the remaining of the dishes and decided to leave."

Most impressive of all was the
service, explanation of the food and the enormous dedication to food. Having been in Japan several times, I do recognize some North American influences, but the quality is excellent and although not recommended by the crew, the Black Cod is our favourite and we actually ordered another portion of this great dish. A very nice and relaxing outdoor dining place - I wish we had this near to us in the Netherlands..."

The food was very good but the
service was amazing!"

We visited Miami and found this
place via Travelzoo. The service was unbelievable...such a well run restaurant where everyone was friendly and attentive. The pork belly sliders and the yellowtail with jalepeno are two stars of the menu, but there was not a bit that was bad! It was so good, we went back the second night for another round!"
Dined on 9/14/2013
We loved the style of this menu.
We also had a great server, and the sake was perfect."
Dined on 9/7/2013
Eating at Zen Sai was a wonderful
experience, the food we ordered came out very fast, the bartender was very kind as well as all of the waiters. We will surely eat here again soon!"

We had a voucher. Reservation
though meal service was terrific, helpful & charming, not annoying. Atmosphere--indoor SoBe styled bar or outdoor garden like. Started w/ edamame--seemed fresher w/ better seasonings. Starter salad was large, yellow tail jalapeno smaller, spicy rock shrimp in the middle, all impressed, go for rock shrimp. Rib Eye done as skewers w/ sauces--choose it also spicy tuna roll. All was delicious. We enjoyed Apothic White wine. Everything far exceeded expectations except they added $22.68 unspecified and $2.00 taxes. They said it all was taxes not on what we had paid, but what they said the value was, it seemed irrational, if it was all taxes it should show that on the bill. Manager was unpleasant but fixed it"

I find a lot of well ranked
Japanese are a bit predictable. But this one is a stand out. This is the Hakkasan of Japanese. Each dish has textures and flavors that were all so great. Don't miss the spicy rock shrimp for this crunchy amazing flavor, the pork sliders, and the cod. Omg the Cod. All while sitting outside enjoy the summer of Miami. Least favorite aspects - there were only a few Reds on the list - the one we picked was a different year than what was listed and sadly not as good a vintage versus what was on the menu. Not a place for a wine-focus dinner. And the dessert was interesting but not worth the calories. Nevertheless - an exciting find and must go. Sit outside - the inside tables are way too close together..."

Definitely would come back. We had
amazing service, good food (and enough vegetarian options!) and we loved the ambience both indoors and outdoors. Just perfect!"

Japanese Tapas, two cuisines which
by themselves are expensive. Combined we get this wallet buster. $15-$20 for a few bites of food. Although the food was very good our group agreed the cost was not worth it."
Dined on 7/12/2013
We had an amazing time! Everything
was perfect, our server Carolina was very nice and very attentive. We had came in for my mothers birthday and it did not disappoint. The pork belly sliders and scallion ribeye were our favorites as well as the cilantro curry spring rolls. We noticed after that they close at 10pm on Thursday and had gotten there at 9:45 but everyone was so kind and service was still amazing. We will be back!"

Went there for the last dinner on
a girl's trip to celebrate my friend's coming nuptials, and it was fantastic. The group was composed of true NY and LA foodies, so this means a lot. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu, and the most notable items were the sea bass (so buttery), spicy tuna sushi (so fresh!), roasted chicken (comes on a skewer), and yamitoshi (or something? It was rice with scallops and shrimp. Yum). Drinks were awesome, and all was reasonably priced. Highly recommend."
Dined on 6/23/2013
Short menu, great items. Had Black
cod (delicious), bacon wrapped scallops (not greasy at all and supergood), rib eye (I was upset because the cannot cook to your term, but it came perfectly cooked). If you order sake they explain it to you and help you toast!!! Very recommended."

Honestly I can not remember the
last time we has service this good. The host, our server, the buser, all were fantastic!"

What a gem! so glad we learned
about this place through Gilt City Miami. Fantastic food, super friendly service, good Miami Beach scene and reasonable prices. Will go back!"

The seating is out doors on the
patio of the historic Essex house hotel. The ambiance is nice tucked back between Washington and Collins. The food was excellent. We tried the squid jerky, tuna tartar, bacon wrapped scallops, prosciutto roll, and finished with bread pudding. Along with some excellent sake to wash it down."
Dined on 4/25/2013
WOW. WHAT A GEM. Took us over an
hour to get there, but it was really worth it. FAB FOOD, DELISH DRINKS, REALLY knowledgeable staff, cute place in the middle of SoBea. Am excited to go back and share this gem with friends"
Dined on 4/6/2013
We were sat outside by a pool next
to the shrubbery. Fair enough, he restaurant was busy, ususally a good sign. However, the overly causal approach of all of the staff except Andrew made it feel like I was at my lazy buudy's house to watch a game and eat some snacks. The food was actually pretty good but they managed to get our order wrong no fewer than 3 times (small plates). Improve the service and this place could be a gem."
Dined on 3/27/2013
The food at Zen Sai was
outstanding. The fried bok choi was crisp and not greasy at all. The Sea Bass with Black Bean Sauce just melted in your mouth. The King Crab roll was very flavorful. Service was attentive. Would definitely recommend."
Dined on 3/27/2013
