I love this place. The service is
reliable...and sometimes outstanding. The food is amazing, and the ambiance is hard to match in this neighbourhood. Dim lights and warm brick walls make for a very inviting space. Great for a couple's night out or a group of 4-6. Highly recommend it!"

My second time at this place and
it impressed me more than the first. The place has a very laid back personality. I have to say that the staff added to the ambience and made it a great night. There was a sense of pride by the waiter on the quality of the place."

We have been to Zee Grill before
as it is in our neighbourhood. The food is very good - fresh and tasty. The room is very loud but that wouldn't discourage us from going again. Our waiter interrupted several times to check on the food which was a little more than called for but that is a minor fault. Overall, we really enjoyed it and will definitely return."

Went here recently for valentine's
dinner. It was a pleasant experience to say the least. Just to tell you about the highlights, we loved the appetizers kob salad and calamari. All the fish were cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. All the deserts such as ice-cream and soufflé are made in-house as well. Our server was kind, smart and quick on her feet. We didn't have to look around for her attention or ask for anything because she brought us everything we needed before we asked for it. This was impressive considering it was valentines day with a full house of diners looking for a perfect evening and shows the owner's effort and attention that goes into running this restaurant. In all, we left zee grill smiling and satisfied."

Pleasantly surprised! The food was
vibrant and the staff was great. Couldn't ask for a better atmosphere for that special night."

The four of us enjoyed our
appetizers and main courses. Lobster bisque and fish tacos were delicious. The Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked with bok choy and pot stickers. It was a decent sized portion and I felt I'd had a very healthy meal. Service was excellent. It was very quiet and cozy on a cold winter evening. We'll definitely go back there."

I found the menu enlightening. The
meal was not full of salt. the flavours were so clean and individual. I will be back in heartbeat. I wish this restaurant was closer to home."

This was our first visit...don't
know how we could have missed it! It was just fantastic!"

If you like fish, than this
restaurant is a must. It has great service and good list of wines."

This restaurant has been a family
favorite for years. This time we were celebrating the birthday of our younger son. As usual, we had a great time. The lobster bisque, which three of us had, was wonderful. I had the diver scallops, which were very tasty; the others had either the cod or the sea bass. Praise all around. The desserts, apple tart or creme caramel, were also excellent. All in all, a fine dinner. Congratulations to Chef Eckhardt and his staff!"

My husband and I love having
dinner at Zee Grill. We have introduced the restaurant to a few friends who also have really enjoyed dining with us. Food is always great and lively atmosphere!"

Our reservation was at 8:30;
however we were seated at 8:50. Not there fault!"

You can always count on the Zee
Grill for a wonderful dining experience with friends. The atmosphere is like a Manhattan seafood grill in the heart of North Toronto. Jac and his crew have some wonderful creation to meet the desire of your tastes and diet. They have a wonderful wine list and a great selection of beer from Coors Light to interesting micros. A must try is the Zee Grill salad. Naturally the Lobster is a sure bet, but you won't go wrong on this menu. Enjoy."

This was my second visit within a
month. I recommended zee grill to my sister. We shared an extremely small crab cake appetizer which was not hot and we felt was too expensive. Our scallops were large and tasty however they too were not hot. The noodle veggies were delicious with the potato but they too were not warm enough. The flour less chocolate cake was excellent. Our server was nice enough but not as attentive/interactive as I had experienced there before. Would give this visit a 7 ."

My mother in law was visiting for
the holidays and before she left we took out for lobster. She absolutely loved it. It was perfect. Atmosphere is wonderful. It is cozy with beautiful stone walls and candle lit. Service was excellent. Very professional, kind, helpful and efficient. My mother in law wants me to take her again next year! Cheers."

First time at restaurant, dining
with my wife and long-time friends. Great food, service (staff very busy yet attentive), ambience (liked the exposed brick on the interior and just-right lighting) - we couldn't ask for anything more, except warmer weather! A pleasure to meet Jacques, co-owner with his wife."
Dined on 12/28/2013
I had the roasted
lobster--terrible. Too much sauce on it; lobster was over-cooked. Didn't taste at all like lobster. Tried to exchange the vegetable (endive?) for something I would like, and wasn't allowed to."

Phebe's Zee Grill has a light
touch with seafood - deliciously sauced & appropriately seasoned - great presentation. And they give diners the time to savour the food & chat. We love this place."

We live in Calgary but were
frequent customers of Zee Grill when we lived in Toronto. Whenever we return for a visit Zee grill is always on our radar for phenomenal eating"
Dined on 12/7/2013
Convenient location midtown with
relatively easy parking. Food was good. Moderate portion sizes so we didn't leave stuffed. Waiter was a bit frenetic."
Dined on 11/30/2013
We've been going for years and
never disappointed. Great seafood, frites to die for, and kid-friendly service even without kid-specific choices. They make it work. Have enjoyed as a family or with a crowd. Quaint to say the least."
Dined on 11/27/2013
The Grilled Calamari was possibly
the best we've ever had. Actually, all the food was pretty good. Fresh, decent portions and tasty. The service was really good too. A must try."

Looking for a restaurant that
would suit my pescetarian husband's tastes and found it at Zee Grill. Knowledgeable, friendly service, a variety of fresh oyster choices, a varied if somewhat limited menu and reasonable prices - it added up to a great night out. We also appreciated the noise level, which came from people having a good time rather than a loud soundtrack - we'll definitely be back! (Be sure to try the Trout Pate - it is outstanding)"

As one of few great fish
restaurants in the uptown/mid town zone, Zee Grill or Phoebes is consistently a winner! The staff are great, the food is fresh, the ambiance is awesome, warm moody lighting and a happening vibe! We were delighted to get a reservation ona saturday night! Bravo."

The ambiance was great, it was a
great find for the neighbourhood, we will definitely go back."

Really enjoyed our meal. Service
was exemplary - perfect balance between friendliness and attentiveness, with being at all intrusive. Food was excellent - interesting with some unusual flavours, lovely presentation and very well prepared. Over all, a terrific evening - we'll be back!"

Myself and My wife went to Zee
Grill for our engagement anniversary. The place offers a great eating experience, complimented with great service. The food came on time, not late and not quick to serve. We were not rushed at all. We enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere. We had a most smooth and wonderful tasty crab. This place is not expensive!!!!"
Dined on 10/31/2013
After a very good green salad I
had the fried scallops. I hesitated over the price ($24) but saw this dish as the most interesting in a fairly limited menu. In the event, the scallops were fantastic - lightly breaded and barely cooked, extremely tender and flavourful. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable, and took the time to engage in conversation about Toronto and Ottawa, where I live and she visits frequently. All in all, a very enjoyable evening."

This is the second time my wife
and I have been to Zee Grill, approximately 1 year to the day from our last visit, and it did not disappoint. Our last experience was excellent; great food, service, location, and atmosphere. This visit was no exception. We both chose well for appitizers (the trout pate is excellent, the Hawian Salad is outstanding), and the Lobster's for the main course were both large (2lbs), however, still sweet and tender (prepared very well). If I had to pick one thing that was not as "up-to-par" when comparing year over year visits was the service; it was still good, but it felt a little slow at times. Overall, great experience, and we will be back again."

Unique dishes Caring and efficient
service. Every item on the plate had a purpose and taste. Really admired the meek presence of the Chef amongst the diners. A memorable dining experience"

We showed up about 5 min. Before
our reservation. Did not get seated til almost half hour after I our requested time. The bartender was really good. My wife asked for a drink they don't normally serve was more then happy to meet her request. The bartender asked the servere why we were waiting so long and she replied I gave them a choice. Not really when it wait or sit outside on a very hot humid night. Any way felt a little ignored. I mean not like we were just coming for a snack which those tables got treated much better. For 2 people and spending about $200.00 just thought better service."

Last minute opentable booking on a
Friday. Very pleasant little spot. Fish all handled well. Moules frites over-spiced but chowder v tasty. Halibut main was very good, cooked nicely, terrific pea purée, but a little small as a main. Halibut and frites was spot on, nice crisp batter and really good frites. Wine list like everywhere in Toronto, ludicrous mark-up (Oyster Bay S Blanc nearly $50?!!). Service was efficient and pleasant. Overall, a lovely neighbourhood spot that I would go back to regularly if I lived locally."

If you are going to a play, the
location is literally second to none. Make a reservation. Dinning outside on their covered veranda or in the front garden is an added treat for summer starved Canadians. The food is slightly inconsistent. At our table of four, we started by sharing two orders of the delicious fritters. For entrées, we had two excellent dishes (the halibut & the scallops) and a very decent vegetarian dish. Unfortunately, the tuna was not good; it was slightly overcooked and fishy. Having left most of the tuna untouched, it would have been nice for the restaurant to offer to redo it, prepare something else, or to adjust the bill. None of which was done. Aside from this misstep, everything else was great and we would return."

Our first experience, we found
this restaurant by accident walking on Mt Pleasant. It was such a nice surprise. Food was incredible. Service was friendly and prompt. This time we brought friends for a special occasion. We were not disappointed. Food was still incredible and the service attentive. Highly recommended."

The wild Salmon and Halibut were
perfectly prepared. The vegetables were crispy and delicious. The sauce light and delicious."
Dined on 8/14/2013
Second time at the restaurant.
Servers are professional, kind, and know their stuff. The food is amazing! A great selection of oysters. Highly recommend the wild duck breast. YUM! The place is fairly small, which is nice because it creates a certain atmosphere that you just don't get at large corporate restaurants. Will absolutely come back."

We lost count of the times we've
been here. The restaurant tinkered with the seafood plateau (no more crudo and other little delicacies (lobster instead)), so we went for oysters straight. 6 varieties, all super fresh and delicious. Sugokus (no not the puzzle ;-) ) a nice addition; like a meatier Kumamoto. After lots and lots of those: Chilled mussels. divine, as is the trout pate with a glass of pinot noir for dessert. Service outstanding as always. Will return, but you knew that. Oh, and bring back the original plateau."
Dined on 8/1/2013
One very loud table spoiled the
evening for a lot of people. They quietened down after other diners spoke to them. But the staff ignored it."
Dined on 7/31/2013
My husband and I enjoyed a
memorable meal at Zee Grill to celebrate a milestone birthday. We decided to treat ourselves and ordered the "Seafood Tower" for two (with an extra half lobster!) The seafood was fresh with bright flavours, and the sides were a tasty complement. The service could not have been better -- attentive without being intrusive, informed and always friendly. A trio of flourless chocolate deserts and the Meringue Lemon Ice Cream Sandwich were a decadent but remarkably light end to a wonderful meal. We always love the warm ambiance of this restaurant, and enjoy watching the professional bustle in the open kitchen. One of our favorite restaurants and always our "go-to" for special events."
