Local architect, Michael Hsu, did an amazing job utilizing the natural surroundings as a canvas back drop for this one of a kind restaurant, providing great views from almost every vantage point. In addition to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, Hsu enhanced the building with an entry water well that cascades into a basin filled with koi and aquatic plants. This sets the tone for what's to come. Once inside, the floor to ceiling windows allow you to look out to the expansive deck where the entry water reappears in a ripple of falls by the back bar. A comfortable ambiance that brings the outdoors in and the indoors out will surely enhance any event. Zed's has two private dining rooms, multiple outside areas and an expansive sloping lawn area that can be reserved for parties and events.

  • "The items on the menu are excellent and the staff are very welcoming. We take a walk though the nearby trail leading to the restaurant before our meal. I would only change the opening time on Sunday from 11 to 10."

  • "Nice restaurant. The waitress was very attentive and the food and drinks were good. The one issue we had was the long wait time for our food. There were just a few diners in the restaurant section, yet it took well over a 45 minutes to get our food. We experienced this long wait time with the previous Zed's and was hoping for faster service with the new Zed's, but unfortunately this still seems to be a problem."

  • "We went for my husband's birthday. It was a very nice evening. The only thing I regret is not making my reservation after dark.. I think the atmosphere would probably have been more romantic because I saw they had strings of light around the outdoor railing and candles on the table so I'm guessing they have a different vibe at night.. Next time, I'll make sure to do that.."

  • "We were in Austin for four days and ate there twice once for lunch and second for dinner both times the service and the food was fantastic great pacing nice restaurant quality food and we had a five-year-old with us."

  • "Excellent brunch. The food was very flavorful. Service was very good. Would have given 5 stars, but we had a long wait to get our bill. I would definitely go again and recommend it."

  • "Good not great food and very good service. The bar was busy but the restaurant was about 40-50% capacity. Great for happy hour"

  • "The Valentine's Day ambiance was very romantic and the meal was amazing, as always. The double-chop pork chops couldn't have made me any happier. Tender and juicy and enough to fill me up. The restaurant has always been a "hidden gem" of mine, but I'm hoping that it becomes a well-received gem to the businesses parks and neighborhoods around it."

  • "I had a late evening reservation @ 9:30 pm. We ordered salads almost immediately instead of an appetizer. Our waiter comes by after about 8 minutes and ponders that our salads should have arrived and went to retrieve them. We finished or salads about 9:50. After a considerable wait, at 10:02 we were informed they botched my rib eye and our order was being redone. And we sat, and sat, and sat. Finally at 10:19 we were served. It took 17 minutes to plate a medium rare rib eye and a salmon dish. Not once did a manager come by. It took 50 minutes to get our food. And it wasn't even very good. My $36 steak was half gristle. No discount for messing up our order, no offer of a free dessert. no acknowledgement that there was a problem. NEVER AGAIN."

  • "We were fortunate enough to try a preview of the crab croquets for the Spring menu. Delicious! And of course had the Thirsty goat steamed clams and the grilled artichoke which I love! Terrific!"

  • "From day one, Zed's never disappoints...BUT there have been several changes with their menu. As soon as I find something I love and tell everybody about it, they've changed the menu and don't offer anymore. That is my one chief complaint with Zed's. While they've been closed for a while for remodeling, and while I knew the menu would perhaps change again....and it did, I was not happy with their current selections. Just seems like there's not a lot to offer or enough variety... or nothing jumping off the menu saying... "Ooo... I wanna try THAT!" I should say. Maybe it's that way because they're trying to reach a certain clientele perhaps. In the end the bacon wrapped scallops and crispy brussle sprouts were delicious!"

  • "Zed's has become one of our favorite places. The setting/view is gorgeous, service is attentive and food is tasty and affordable. Would love to have live music and maybe rotating specials to compliment the brunch menu! We'll be regulars for sure!"

  • "I really enjoyed the ambiance. It was pleasant. I simply loved the jazz music. Although I didn't like the entree I chose, it was still a remarkable place."

  • "Excellent clams, delicious halibut, succulent scallops with attentive service in a comfortable atmosphere - a new member of our personal TOP 10 in Austin."

  • "We had a great time at Zed's. the service was great and the food even better. I must say the steak was one of the most tender steaks any one of us ever had. We had basically a three course meal, and enjoyed every course. Perfect Valentine's day dinner!"

  • "My wife and I went to Zed's for the first time on Valentine's Day, and it was terrific. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed ourselves and am very happy to have stumbled on this restaurant! They have an outdoor patio overlooking the river that is really nice!"

  • "Went there with family, including a young child, for Valentine's Day dinner. Showed up around 8:45 PM for a 9:00 PM reservation and were shown to our table right away Live band was playing and was very good; not overpowering, allowed for easy conversation at our table in the main dining room. We shared the 'Dinner for Two' filet mignon/lobster dinner; lobster was OK but a bit chewy, both steaks were ordered rare, one came out rare, the other was more medium. Maitre d' suggested dry wine; the wine turned out to be a little spicy and dry, went well with the filet. Price was a little high so won't be going back right away but we are looking forward to a return trip eventually."

  • "Zed's has been redone and it's fantastic! Everything great: Super friendly and attentive service, good food, great wine list, kid-friendly. And the views are so pretty, too. We'll definitely be back."

  • "V-Day special was $75 for filet mignon, a side, salad, rolls, lobster claw to share, and a dessert to share. The wait staff were great, the ambiance was lively (but music is too loud if you sit close to bar). House salad was excellent. They make their own lemon vinaigrette dressing. The salad has bits of cranberry, feta cheese, nuts as well as salad field greens. Steak was melt in your mouth. We both chose the smashed garlic potatoes as our side. The dessert was chocolate mousse to share. The only issue I had was that I booked the reservation online, and I asked for a table off to the side. But the staff took us to the LEAST PRIVATE TABLE IN THE RESTAURANT."

  • "The food was great and the service was outstanding... it made for a most memorable Valentine's Day.. Jacob, Mario and crew made it a special! We will be back real soon."

  • "This restaurant has done a 180 turn for the better since it reopened recently. The food is much better, the service is professional and friendly, the view and grounds remain wonderful as they always were. The chef and many of the wait staff have been imported from the recently closed Cool River Cafe and the result is a new menu without the weird and terrible food items the old Zed's served, as well as an incredibly good new wait staff. Kudos to the owner for making this bold change! I'd recommend Zed's to everyone now."

  • "Open Table wins again as we were simply looking for a restaurant in Central Austin. We're another set of newbies to Austin so we had to learn the quick history of Zed's. Apparently the owner closed down the place for several months to re-do the place which opened in Oct '13. Great wood decor and super comfy dinner chairs opens everything. Kick that off with incredible over-the-top service (Nicole & Robert), this is place is a winner The drink selection is extensive including TX Blended Whiskey (one of my favorites) to Spanish Prosecco. I kept it simple with the TX Cheese Plate and a perfect Hamburger that was truly quality beef. My partner had the bacon wrapped (4) Scallops that was beautifully presented. Plus, see the title!!!!!!!!"

  • "I'm so glad Zed has re-opened. Their food was very good and the service was outstanding. If you haven't visited, please give it a try. I can't wait for the weather to get better in order to sit outside. They have a great outdoor space and like the location. You don't find too many restaurants up north and sometimes I get tired of going to the Domain."

  • "Went here on a Saturday with a friend I was visiting from out of town. The restaurant was very quiet and had beautiful views out on the patio. I ordered the salmon with crispy Brussel sprouts. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the food just the right temp. The server was attentive and not overbearing. We enjoyed every minute of our dining experience. Will definitely return when in Austin."

  • "I had the filet mignon and lobster special. Food and music were OUTSTANDING. Our server was also the bartender so she was a tad overwhelmed but the managers stepped in to help and make sure everyone was happy, Husband had the scallops and says it was one of the best meals of the year! We plan to be regulars at Zed's!"

  • "Had been here before but since we don't live in the neighborhood we're not regulars. Set up a Christmas eve reservation and was surprised to find that while the food was excellent the prices had gone from family affordable to once a year special occasion. I expect these prices at the upscale restaurants downtown but wasn't expecting it here. The food was great but $130 with tip for a family of 4 where one kid had a burger is out of our budget."

  • "I loved Zeds before it was remodeled. I would go at least once a month. Sadly, I was underwhelmed with the new menu. Nothing memorable and I probably won't be back. I'm very sad... I'll give brunch a go perhaps!"

  • "Had the parmesan/pistachio crusted halibut AGAIN. Cooked perfectly and a large portion. Also got the grilled artichoke (not overcooked at all) and my favorite the Thirsty clams smothered in garlicky thirsty goat amber broth with huge chunks of bacon & celery. YUMMY We also tried the lamb lollipops, also cooked exactly how we wanted. So happy that Zed's is new and improved. We'll be back often."

  • "Fantastic evening celebrating my fiance's birthday at Zed's this year. We were ecstatic that you had reopened in time for me to surprise her. We love the changes on the menu. I had the pork chop and my fiance had the rib eye - great dishes. The pork chop was perfectly flavored. I want to give especially good praise to our server, Diana - she made the evening so wonderful and relaxing. She has a great personality in general - but I want to praise her for her skills as a server. She was very knowledgeable about the menu; she was polite and well spoken. She never rushed us, only guided us and helped us to better enjoy the night. My favorite part was how casual and welcoming she was. We talked about also being from upstate New York. :)"

  • "Our waiter let us know that we could also order from the dinner menu. Most the party went with fish and chips to salads, soup and sandwich. We all liked what we had ordered having said that one party member said they would have liked the Tomato soup a little less thick and a little more tangy. For them the Tomato soup was too rich, but good anyway! The fish and chips was these thin crunchy fries and the battered fried fish, of which I took most of the batter off and ate the fish part, that was cooked to perfection! Everyone seemed satisfied with their meal."

  • "This restaurant has re-open after several months wait. The re-design did not seem to warrant the delay. The food and the service was always good to excellent and this remains the same. The menu has been greatly reduced from the previous menu and I think it has been cut back a little too much. Unless this menu will change on a weekly or monthly basis, the selections are a little modest. Especially, if one were to plan to come a few times in a month, the menu needs to change or specials need to be added to the menu. Otherwise, the staff was hospitable and welcoming. The service was above the norm. I would recommend that everyone check out the new Zed's."

  • "Food is GREAT albeit a little bit pricey. I think the menu could use a couple more "comfort" choices on it with comfortable price also in mind. The Halibut at $23 was out of this world and totally worth it. I just think there should be a slight nod to our our Latin roots around here. A little MEX The Service, though well-meaning was a little too flippant and obviously inexperienced and laid back for the prices at hand. Our waiter might have gotten away with his ladi back approach at a casual fast or even like a Polvo's type of place but when we're spending $100 for 2 adults and a kid....it needs to be impeccable. Dude forgot that we ordered an appetizer, tried to take plates away when we were clearly still eating - just seemed a bit stoned."

  • "Breathtaking patio and super attentive service. Food was incredible as usual. It's a perfect spot for anything really. Very intimate and romantic dining inside, nice bar area with tv and sports or relaxing patio for easy relaxing dining and scenic views. We take the family there for dinner on Fridays. They usually have live music on the weekends. It's such a comfortable beautiful spot with great food, drinks and service. Very relaxing, easy place to eat and have great drinks. A treasure for North Austin. If you haven't been yet, i can't recommend it enough. You'll see."
