  • Underwhelming Service

Totally underwhelmed with the service. Arrived early and were accommodated. However no one asked to check coats -- which would have been nice as there wasn't room on my chair for a bulky Chicago coat. Our waiter was nice however he depends on the carvers to make their rounds to each table. What food we got was very good, however it wasn't until 1-1/2 hours into the dining experience did we really taste the beef dishes they are famous for. The waiter promised better service; the manager promised better service. We just never got it. Even knowing I was a bit disgruntled, getting the check took a long time. Zed is a place best experienced with several friends. That night, it was just my husband and me. I really felt invisible.

ZED451 was an outstanding experience for our group!! Dinner at ZED451 has become an annual tradition for our combined family which includes 3 kids under the age of 9. The atmosphere is memorable for all of us. I had a special request and it was handled expertly and graciously by Heather. In addition, maître d', Gabriel accommodated our party with kindness and professionalism. The upstairs outdoor bar is fantastic...even in cold weather while we were there in November. Though we had a large group, my wife and I have had romantic dinners at ZED451 in the past and will do so in the future.

Took my fiance and future in-laws here and they couldn't stop raving about it during and after dinner! Harvest Table was a fantastic spread of meats, cheese, soups and salads, and when we were ready for meat-- we set out the rocks in front of us and the wait staff rolled in immediately! Excellent service - all the staff were professional and humble at the same time - very attentive and talked through each of the selections. Would DEFINITELY recommend - it's an experience!

Been to other all-you-can-eat carve at the table restaurants, most notably a Brazilian steakhouse, and although the this was good, it didn't match up. The salad bar portion was very good, but when it was time to serve the main courses, the service was spotty and stingy at times. A friend asked for an additional cut of steak, and the waiter hesitated. The table received our ration (one slice) of ahi tuna, and the server never returned with more. The salmon was a bit undercooked and the server didn't appear too concerned with keeping our drinks replenished so they missed out on an opportunity for more sales while we were left wanting more. They do have a bus that will take your party to and from your hotel. Wish we had known before walking the 'couple of blocks" our hotel valet quoted because he didn't want to get our large party two taxis. Overall, good but not with the money for what you receive in return.

First time my boyfriend came here. Bought him here for his birthday. He loved it!! The food was awesome and you're not going to get the same thing as other restaurants. For example, along with the different meat we had duck and tuna. I have been here several times already and recommended it to my friends. They all loved it and now come for the brunch which is also very good. You should try it!!

Not gonna lie, this was the best meal I have ever had. The appetizers and salads are amazing and you can get as much as you want, and the main courses are all wonderful! It's great that those are bottomless too! Impossible to go away hungry here. They also recognized that I was visiting for a special occasion and wrote "congrats!" on my dessert in chocolate. Overall just great food and service, and not a bad price for what you get. I will definitely be back to celebrate soon!!!

The dining experience was one of a kind. You begin the meal by exlporing five stations of delectable sides and starters, then you are served the chef's choice sides (the maple glazed bacon is to die for). Once you are ready the servers walking around will begin bringing out the Chef's selection/protein dishes. These are outstanding. You can have unlimited of everything. The food here is unique and fabulous, you won't be disappointed. The whole restaurant has a wonderful ambiance about it, very modern and welcoming. It's a warming place to be. Truly one of a kind.

The restaurant is warm and welcoming. I loved the fires burning in fireplaces - perfect for a cold Chicago evening. The food was very good - the variety was excellent. It's a great way to try a couple items that maybe you've never tried before. Our favorite was the wagu steak - delicious! The harvest bar was also very good. We had a drink in the bar before we left and we thought that was also a great atmosphere. Our servers were attentive and enjoyable. It was a great find and we are looking forward to going again.

I dined in here with a big group to celebrate friends birthday. We waited 20mins for our waiter to come and greet us.The waiter looked bored&uninterested with our group&was speaking in low voice which half of us couldn't make out what he was talking about.Place was dark to see small black stones near our plates.Waited for about 5 mins to be served with every small piece of food. The waiter asked the birthday celebrant if we had brought a cake. She politely said no.He asked her what kind of cake she wanted and she replied butterscotch. The bill came&what we thought was a"complimentary birthday cake"was charged to our bill(Most restaurants have complimentary dessert for any celebration)We were also treated by rude bartenders at rooftop.

After going to ZED451 for so long we fell in love with the crab cakes and salmon...but to our surprise they're not serving those items during brunch any longer...didn't care for the salmon benedict dish...tilapia was also a replacement and it was okay. The bacon, bottom sirloin, fritata and other entrees were very good as always....and the star of the day is the incredible Harvest Table...selections are fresh and healthy. We're hoping to see those seafood items coming back again.Ask for Nina or Liz...they are the most corteous and attentive servers we've experienced. They go above and beyond the call of duty for their guests.Chef Jessie was also a gem in service. He went and cooked some salmon for all of us even though it was not on the menu.

We had a group of 6 dine on a Saturday night. It was busy but not super packed. The food was amazing and we were quite impressed with all of the options. I'm not quite sure if there is any system to which meat comes to each table when. We waited quite awhile and they still had not brought around 3 of the options. We had to ask our server to send them over and it still took a long time and we just gave up on trying one of them. Also, I would say that our service was quite slow. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and once we were ready to start trying the different meats it took a very long time to clear plates and finally bring the main dinner plates out.

First off the food was excellent. Every Piece of Meat was amazing. The Harvest table is a great salad bar. I would suggest having drinks afterwards, I ordered a 12 dollar drink and it was literally gone in 3 sips. The glass was cute but small and had this huge ball in it to keep it cool (or make it look like there is more in it than it really is.)

I originally dined at ZED451 back in October of 2011 and absolutely devoured the fried pork belly. This year I returned for my birthday with reservations and enjoyed an even better experience than last. Our server and another server who was specifically serving the rotating meats made for an awesome night for my wife and I. I'm thoroughly convinced there's not a better restaurant in all of downtown Chicago. From the harvest table, to their selection of meats, ZED451 exceeds all expectations.

it seemed like our dinner was going to be great. Wonderful welcome from host staff, great drinks at the bar and a nice table out of the main traffic. Our waiter started out great but seemed to get busy with other larger parties. My husband had to go to the bar to pick up his cocktail. Our waiter totally forgot about it. Since we were only 4 and off to the side it also seemed like the servers with the meats had a hard time noticing us as well. The harvest table was good but not memorable. The meats brought around were hot and delicious when we did get them. Specifically asked for the duck to be brought over but our server cleared our plates and we never did get to try it. Management were very nice and asked us to give them another try.

ZED451 was recommended to us by a friend when we were looking for a place to spend our anniversary. Everything from the beautiful atmosphere to the fantastic service and food made it a great night. It was a great balance of intimate setting with a bit of life b/c of the club music that kept our mood perky. We would have loved to have had more of the food options passed around because we noticed as we were finished other tables were filling in and they were getting food options we never saw. The staff was great about asking if we wanted anything in particular but not knowing what our options to ask for were made it so that we really couldn't request anything. I would have liked to have a list of my options. overall fantastic & will be back!!

This was our second visit to ZED451 and we found it even better than the first, which was also a winner. The salad bar in this Brazilian-like restaurant is truly unique and better than the typical salad bars. Everything from roasted pineapple to specialty cheeses, Thai salads to delicious thinly sliced salamis make this worth the $50 dinner fee. The selection as the "chefs" bring meat (and fish and crab cakes) to the table is superb. A small selection of desserts proved to be a winner, too. A different twist on banana cream pie was excellent. We had a wonderful time. Only downside is the high cost of drinks. Call brand (Tanqueray and Grey Goose) martinis or mixed drinks (vodka and lemonade) are $13.50, quite high even for River North.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Zed451 and it was perfect! Our waiter was so polite and always made sure that we got to sample all of the food AND even brought a small plate of the duck (my favorite) to our table because he remembered that I loved it! The chefs were very attentive and came around often enough where it wasn't overwhelming. My husband and I had wine flights which was a perfect serving and compliment to the "tasting" format of the restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner

I made reservations for the restaurant because I dined there for my birthday and really enjoyed it. I was very displeased on Sunday, to such an extent my wife and I left. First of all, I was not aware at 2PM the restaurant would be serving brunch. The salad was bare. The food at the various stations were poorly presented and not appealing. The hist indicated they would not be serving dinner until 5PM. To further compound the situation I still had to pay valet for taking my car for the 10 minutes we were in the restaurant. Needless to say i will not be visiting the restaurant again.

started with a drink on the gorgeous rooftop deck. the service up there was great and the drinks menu interesting. down to dinner and our table was ready right on time (thank you!) our server was great and allowed us to "break the rules" since we wanted to have salad / sides with our selection of meats - it was all perfectly delicious together. we love places that are high end on the food and wine but casual and fun at the same time - ZED451 hit all the marks for us.

Food was delicious. Options were diverse. The place was very interesting and pretty. However, the floors were very slippery. My group and I had to be extra careful when walking because we felt we would fall otherwise. During dinner, we heard the other two tables on each side of us complaining about how slippery the floors were too. That needs to be addressed.
