Zebra's Bistro and Wine Baranniversary dinnerWe recently went to Zebra's to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary. We had trouble picking just one appetizer and really wanted desserts ... so we ended up skipping entrees. We ordered a selection of cheese, shrimp cerviche, and marinated olives (horribly addictive!). For dessert we got the ice cream sandwich sunday and the chocolate mousse terrine (we had trouble deciding which was better). Our server, Justine, was great! She paced the food perfectly so we got to enjoy a relaxing meal. With the check, Justine also brought a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in fruit puree and two little bites of caramel covered rice crispy squares. Food is always prepared well and pleasing to the eye. I would have given the food 5 stars if my short ribs were not a little dry. Could have used a little bit more moisture. I recommend Zebra's lounge area. It is a pleasant place to have something to drink prior (or after) your meal.

We shared a special three part appetizer with pate, duck pastrami and more. Beautifully presented, delicious, and the highlight of the meal. A blackened salmon with risotto was generous in portion and excellent. A hanger steak was good, but not special. All were nicely presented. A chocolate desert was excellent.
We will return, probably ask the waiter for specific recommendations and the food sometimes soars, but occasionally coasts.
Pricey but overall worth it.

The menu is fresh and innovative without being overly fussy. Our table started off with two "snacks" the pork belly wontons and truffle fries - which were so delicious and really made us look forward to the rest of dinner. My arugula salad was simple and crisp and the shaved asparagus added a surprising nutty flavor. The spring vegetable risotto was exactly what I had been craving and my friends all enjoyed their entrees as well - scallops, blackened salmon and the lamb ragout. It was really great! This was our first time at Zebra's and we were quite impressed. The food, the service and the atmosphere was perfect for a holiday celebration. They had a price fixe menu for $28/per person, you could choose two items and both sections of the menu had at least (10) items from which we could choose for our brunch. I had the oysters first, then a frittatta, my wife had a cheese board to start and the salmon. Everything was made fresh and it was delicious, the service was attentive, but not intrusive and anything that we may have needed was there in seconds. The entire meal was excellent and very impressed that for such excellent food, they didn't soak it to you on the check. I ate a half order of a pasta dish for an appetizer - made with lamb - fantastic. This can be tough for a restaurant as they set the bar early in the dinner but everything else was equally as good, even the dessert. Wish I could remember everything we ate but it was a few weeks ago. Also, we had a great waitress and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. We will be back soon. The food was still fabulous since the last time we were there -- lots of great flavors and nice touches. My husband had the oysters for an appetizer and thought they were great. I had the chicken liver pate and thought it was very good, although I personally would rather my toast tips be a little less crunchy. For dinner, we had scallops and short ribs. Everyone liked their meals although the men did make a couple of comments about the portions not being very big. My friend and I shared the white wine taster - six 2 oz glasses of white wines from their menu. We both enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to others as the cost really wasn't more than ordering a good glass of wine! We tried two charcuterie selections (Pig's Head and the duck), both of which were terrific. The featured wine was a new bottle for us, and it exceeded expectations. Very good at its price point. As always, the drinks were spot-on. Our entrees were just the right size and delicious. The cookie ice cream sandwich was out of this world. Menu entres were only a few in number but items were very good. My wife had the Goyza ? Burger and I tried the salmon. Salmon was a little ordinary but tasted good. It was serve on a bed of of lentil that were a bit flavorless. Price was $95 for two with appetizer, wine and dessert, very reasonable. I love mussels which were very good here, but feature French fries so I will not be ordering that dish again as I am not a fan of fries and they dominate the dish. However, the spacing was excellent.
