We have come to expect excellence at Zebra, which is why we chose to celebrate our anniversary there. We were not disappointed! The food was divine. We shared an appetizer of tender scallops in a delicate orange marmalade & wine reduction. I chose the swordfish, served atop juliened root vegetables and my husband ordered the duck. Both were excellent. For dessert, we shared a Passion Fruit Soufflé with Coconut Creme Fraîche. Oh, my! Even though I have nothing but praise for the food, the evening was made complete by our server, Joe. We have never had a more elegant and competent waiter. He called me "Madame" (French pronunciation). I liked it. When I mentioned it was our anniversary, Joseph brought out a lovely plate of white chocolate fudge, raspberries & candied ginger decorated with "Happy Anniversary" in dark chocolate. Okay, did I mention "perfection"?

Service was so poor. Over 15 minutes & noone asked what we'd like to drink. When I asked an employee if we could order a drink I was told we have to wait for our waiter! Why isn't someone assigned to take a drink order? Why couldn't the hostess do that? Several other people have told me this was their experience at Zebra also. I feel management is not organized to provide sufficient staff to accommodate patrons needs. Some staff members were hustling, while others mosied along. It was a harried atmosphere as a result. Very disapppointed. My friends & I will not go nack.

Old world French (in a good way) - sole amandine, swordfish w/ Mornay sauce, tournedos rossini, impeccable service, dressy - a man without a jacket will appear conspicuous. We were at one of the summer Friday afternoon happy hours and thoroughly enjoyed selections from the bar/appetizer menu. But a recent dinner was disappointing - OK, but not great. Appetizers: the fois gras was unacceptable - two thin slivers cooked all the way through; the scallops were tasty, but the accompaniments were tasteless and we couldn't discern what they were (one was a cooked grain of some kind). Entrees: Dover sole and lamb tenderloins OK, but we couldn't get excited about either of them. There may be other entrees that were better choices, as other parties around us seemed to be enjoying their food. Desserts: Excellent.

The food was outstanding, except for the oysters which were disappointing. Service was great, but it was obvious that our waiter was new ... a few stumbles. We would definitely return : there were plenty of menu choices and the 3 or 4 course table d'hote was a great value.

We have been hear sevral times since we moved here from NY for wine tastings and dinners. The food is fantastic. Always well prepared and presented. The menu has a wide choice of appitizers and main cource selections. The wine list is awsome, offering a wide selection. The dining area is very nicely furnished and presents a very cozy and romantic setting for any meal, be it a special ocasion or just a night out.

As two women we were treated was if we were morons and very casually with little respect. We had paid the bill but could not get out of the table by being blocked by our waiter who was chatting up a male customer for several minutes. The whole experience was a disappointment. I have been there several times and it was not like this at all in the past.

We enjoyed a special dining experience at Zebra Restaurant and Wine Bar. We ordered the Grand Tasting with wine pairing and it was truly grand. We especially liked how the chosen wines complemented the food so well: the combinations enhanced the flavors and tastes of both. Even the sorbet and it's manner of serving were innovative.

I have been going to Zebra's for years This was the first I was disappointed. Service was great as always, but the food was only fair to good. I had Grilled Scallops - good - but the condiments surrounding (thin sliced butternut squash and tiny cubes of tomato and red pepper) were fair at best, served with balsamic reduction, three drops literally. The Bass (grilled) was dry on the edges and a very small piece, the risotto could have been made in my kitchen and the asparagus was good, but not up to par. The desserts (plate of small samples) were fine. I must say, a disappointment overall and to top it the menu was the same as it was 6 months ago. Think I need to find another favorite place.

The food was great.Strange thing though--the general manager toured the room several times when we were there...about 4 or 5 times. Each time he skipped our table. This was most noticeable when only 3 tables were occupied at the end of the evening. He invited the table next to us to a special event the restaurant was hosting (a magic show I believe). He literally had to.walk past our table to discuss the event with another table and that is exactly what he did. Considering we were the only people of color there that evening it did make us wonder if the generel manager felt uncomfortable interacting with us. My husband and I noticed his behavior independently and brushed it off. Too bad, the food is wondeful but we won't dine there again.

The food was good, service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive but not pushy. Atmosphere was nice, although seating is elbow to elbow which makes for interesting eaves dropping opportunities. My only complaint was they charged me an extra $20 premium on my bil for ordering the manager's special steak. That seemed cheap and trivial for such an expensive place. We're glad we went but probably won't hurry back or eat here regularly.

After 3 years of being in Charlotte we finally made it to Zebra. The food was great and I only reserve adjective for a couple places in Charlotte. Finally went to Zebra since DealSaver had a $20 for $40 deal.Went during lunch vs dinner to make it go further. For example, their signature Angel Zebra basket with filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, & scallops was $27 for lunch vs $44 for dinner. Had the truffled mushroom soup - very rich cream of mushroom and the dessert sampler, which was perfect for 2. My friend & I agreed that it was a great lunch experience, but it's just another well-done fancy restaurant in Charlotte that we've checked off our list.

Our group was intrigued by the name; we were in Charlotte for a conference. It was only a 15 minute drive from downtown to South Park area and was so worth it! Presentations were fun and elegant, AND the food was amazing! Vase Salad comes in a sesame encrusted "vase" with the salad greens becoming the bouquet. We had the fish which was perfectly cooked, with just enough and too much sauce. Someone else had the scallops appetizer and the duck, and both were just perfect!

Our family joke is if a restaurant goes bad, it'll happen on my birthday. This year, Zebra broke the 'spell'. Everything about our dining experience on September 5 was pitch-perfect. The service was attentive; they seemed to anticipate our needs without interrupting conversation. We're still raving about the food. Starting with the bread: perfection served with herb butter. My mushroom soup appetizer was divine. My husband loved his Pate de Fois Gras. Everything about my Dover Sole was inspired and delicious. My husband had a combination of filet mignon, shrimp & lobster he said was wonderful. We ordered a Chef's Sampler to share for dessert; the plate came decorated festively for the occasion. Thank you, Zebra for a memorable birthday!
