  • "Dining at Zeal was a wonderful experience. The food, service and private table were a welcome surprise. The most remarkable part of the meal was that it was gluten and dairy free. I loved the fact that the menu marked dishes for food sensitive customers. They were also very accommodating and knowledgeable. We will return soon to sample other dishes and enjoy the fried tomato croutons that topped off our salads. Ratings for ambiance and noise level were lowered since there were a lot of children present that evening."

  • "We had a reservation for 7:30 on Saturday evening. Although other tables were available, we were sat in a row of booths that were adjacent to the kitchen. Other than the half wall to which the booths were attached, we had full exposure to kitchen noise and acompanying issues because someone thought it was a good idea to have some lattice structure connecting the half wall to the ceiling. We ordered the seafood carbonara, pork tenderloin and the drum fish special. My wife was pleased with the amount seafood in her carbonar; however, it was extremely salty. My daughter order the pork tenderloin medium rare and I ordered the drum fish. Both dishes were overcooked. Desert was fine. All in $127. We'll give another try in a few months."

  • "We enjoyed the food immensely. The decorations impressed us, especially the dangling light bulbs. The service was slightly slow, but we managed to finish our meal in about an hour. We ate, and thoroughly enjoyed, the following dishes: 1. Seafood Carbonara 2. Glazed Pork 3. Collard Greens (you won't believe how good they taste) 4. Lobster Mac-n-Cheese (we fought over the last bites) Glad we tried this place. It earned a spot on our list for Special Occasions!"

  • "Ask for a booth, because as others have mentioned, the chairs in the dining room resemble patio chairs and do not appear to be comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient except for one small issue. It did take a while to get our drinks and food (as others have also mentioned) but we were not in a hurry. My husband and I split 3 "small plates"…the black and blue salad, shrimp and grits, and short ribs (on the waitress' recommendation). The steak was not very tender on the salad. But we enjoyed the shrimp and grits and especially the short ribs! My BIL also enjoyed his salmon. I love having another fun and different restaurant in East Cobb (other than the chain restaurants) and we will definitely return!"

  • "I've read various reviews of Zeal and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was open and relaxing. As the crowd started filling in for dinner my wife and I were still easily able to hold a conversation. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. There were several interesting wine choices offered as a special that evening, but they were by the bottle, which we rarely take advantage of. We split a Kale salad that was delicious. We chose two small share plates, a wonderful crab cake and the other being scrimp and grits. The scrimp was good, but we enjoyed the crab cake more. There was plenty of food for us with the small share plates and salad. We will definitely come back."

  • "This last visit was our second visit. The food is good but you need to pick the right food. On sandwiches and burgers, great. On entrees, the portions are too small for the money. My husband got the crab cakes (large plate), for $20+ if was too small an entree. The wine list is not that extensive but they will allow you to bring your wine for a fee, which is fine. The ambience: loud! Both times we were seated near the kitchen in back and I will not go their again! Three is a charm, right?"

  • "Went for lunch on a Sunday (around 1pm). The place was almost empty. Our waitress was nice, but slow. The food took forever to come out.I ordered a hamburger and fries. When the food finally came out it did not have good presentation. The salad looks small and sort of wilted. That flank was so-so. The trout was very small ($9). My hamburger was the worst hamburger I have ever had (not counting fast food). It was overcooked (I asked for medium, got well done). No condiments. A piece of lettuce, one small old looking slice of tomato and one ring of onion. The only way I can describe the taste of the burger is to say it tasted like what a cow pasture smells like. On a good note, the gluten free bread was wonderful. Hope they get better."

  • "I've visited Zeal in the evening and loved the fun bar with great appetizers and terrific beer and wine selection. This was my first visit for lunch and as it was for business, I was concerned about whether or not this would be an appropriate spot. There was no need for worry as not only did the staff call me by name, but the service was attentive and unobtrusive. The noise level was moderate so we could easily talk business and hear each other. The menu offers good lunch selections and food was delivered promptly. I will definitely continue to visit for lunch and have confidence my guests will enjoy themselves."

The waitress, Jennifer, was very friendly and helpful, the flatbread outstanding and the small plates (crab cake and scallops) were nicely presented and delicious. The décor is very nice and the bar is separated from the dining areas. Noise level was moderate, which given the number of people in the dining area, very acceptable. We will return."

  • "Four of us had four different meals and all were enjoyed. The pace was like I was on vacation in Europe and the table was ours for the evening. So if you're in the mood for a relaxing meal spread out over time then this is a great place. If you're trying to eat and make it to a show I'd suggest another destination."

  • "The nicest thing I can say is that there will be a next time. But that's based on the fact that the food was decent and we WANT to like this place we really do. I've never worked in the industry and can't claim to know what's going on but it really felt like the bar and kitchen had timing issues. The bar was way too slow and the kitchen way too fast. With drinks taking 15 minutes to make it to the table and food only allowing 5 minutes between appetizer delivery and main course. If this wasn't a timing issue - then our server was really bad. There's potential there...get it together Zeal...please!"

  • "Curious to try, we brought the kids (6 and 8) on a Friday night. Happy to see a kids menu, and variety of beers and cocktails. Like the farm to table set up. Kale salad was very, very good. Chicken lollipops were fun. Service was good; restaurant was very busy and energetic. I liked the trendy atmosphere and the casual vibe. I saw a good number of small children, so I felt that it's probably a neighborhood place that families frequent. Three of us ordered dessert, and the meal was around $100 including alcohol. Not sure I was "wowed" by anything in particular, but it was a fun evening and I could imagine trying it again if we're in the area."

  • "The place is really beautiful. My wife and I dined here for the first time for Valentines Day. We decided to stay close to home this year and had been eying this place, but waiting for more solid reviews. The staff was very attentive and friendly at the front for a "solid booking" and the live music was very appealing. We did not wait long for for our table, nor for our waitress who was reasonably friendly. The wine, bar, beer selection was very good. We were encouraged not to order one particular entree I was interested in, and to go with the veal chops or filet and lobster. Those of us on the restaurant floor that made the mistake of ordering the chops were provided butter knives to cut a slightly undercooked fatty piece of meat."

  • "Realizing the restaurant was new, having been open only 90 days, I walked in not knowing what to expect. From the moment I walked in I was captured by the ambiance. It was eclectic and sophisticated but yet relaxed at the same time. There was plenty of bling to look at. The food would have to be the same or better. And better it was, actually much, much better. After spending a long time looking at the menu, because there were so many delicious choices, I went with the Zeal Ribeye steak. I had heard about how everything at this restaurant was fresh and locally sourced and this included the beef. I wanted to taste what stress-free beef taste like. I have to say that after eating the Ribeye I now have a new high standard for steak."

  • "East Cobb now finally has a restaurant that can compliment Seed. Before we could only go to Seed or Buckhed/Midtown. Now we alternate and go to Zeal and Seed on a weekly basis. Zeal's has different and unique menu offerings. We admire the Farm to table, chef driven, seasonal, local produce, boutique wine and spirits and a great collection of Craft Beers. The Chicken Lollipops and Cornmeal Dusted Calamari, by far the best appetizers we have ever had. Our entrees were the Lamb Chops with Golden Raisin Mint Sauce and the Mahi Mahi special. Mind blowing food. Hats of to the owners and executive chef. Our server was sweet and not too intrusive. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for the patio and garage doors to go up and upcoming March Events."

  • "Scott, the owner is very attentive, he always makes sure we get what we want and recommends what we will enjoy. We had skirt steak, shrimp and grits, and shared a small plate of Georgia trout! Our sever Jim knew a lot about their wine program and made great recommendations. We went over to the bar for Cocktails. Gene made us the East Cobb Harvest and Fire and Sin, one we are not cucumber fans but the fresh muddling of cucumber, basil, agave nectar and whatever else he mixed, was AMAZING! The Fire and Sin was like, maple pecan cinnamon waffles all in one, not to mention the alcohol. Too bad for the ajc article, I don't think the writer knows what she's talking about. This restaurant is easily worthy of 4 stars and on its way to 5 stars!!!"

  • "This was not our first meal at Zeal but was likely our last. We love the concept and live nearby, but ultimately you pay $100 for dinner for two because the food is worth it. It was noisy where we sat which is OK since it was full, but if you get a booth table around the perimeter you'll be better off. The real issue for us is the blandness of the food. We had Goat Cheese Crostinis and Hummus for starters (Hummus was no different than Kroger variety). Then it was Kale Salad and small plates of shirmp & grits and scallops. They weren't awful, but they weren't great. Not worth ordering again - just "yeah, that was shrimp". The marketing for this restaurant makes you expect flavors and options beyond what you'd make at home. Not so much."

  • "We were first time diners and were lucky to get reservations when we did, last minute. I had such a wonderful time with my fiance' on valentine's night.. they had a female/male duo performing in the bar and they were unreal.. busy for the night and still managed to get everyone taken care of. We had sat down a bit before another table next to us and they managed to get their entrees before us but it didn't matter too much because Jim was just great. Knowledgeable and very polite. Gene the bar manager was very kind also. The steak was wonderful but i think the side that it came with shouldn't have come with it.. It needed sauteed spinach or something similar with the marsala sauce it had on it. Really enjoyed ourselves. We will be back. :)"

  • "The food was ok, the service was excellent. I went on Valentine's day for the first time so I was not happy about the limited menu (although I do understand why they had one). The stuffed chicken breast was fantastic, the soup and calamari were good but my steak was ok and I didn't like my grits. I will try this place again."

  • "I normally don't go out on Valentine's Day because I hate the fixed price menus and the crowds but because of being snowed in for a few days, we were dying to get out. Zeal had the most amazing menu, wonderful service and great wine pairings. The lamb chops were divine. The desserts were heavenly. We will be back to try out the regular menu."

  • "Went to Zeal for a snack and beer, or at least that was the original plan. But it turned into a full 2 hour feast of starters, small plates, entrees and wine flights. Chef mulville came by and explained his vision and thoughts behind each of menu item we ordered. Then the owner Scott walked us thru his new wine program, So I tried their wine flights and my wife tried the East Cobb Harvest Cocktail. The food was by far the best I have had in East Cobb and as good as some of our favorites places in Midtown and Buckhead. Braised Slow Cooked Short Ribs, melt in your mouth, literally! Wife's Seared Diver Scallops, she said were to "Die For". We will back soon. Actually we went back twice already. Love the crew there. Welcome to East Cobb!"

  • "Zeal is a relatively new addition to the neighborhood. It took a few minutes to find it hidden off to the side of the strip mall. It is a modern, brassy, and hopelessly noisy place, at least on a Saturday night. Food was good enough, although nothing stood out in our party of six. The waiter was pleasant and as efficient as he could be getting around a very crowded place. We may try this again in the middle of the week when hopefully it will be a lot quieter."
