A word from Zazu
We are a husband & wife chef team so we have 2 kinds of food: rustic Northern Italian (meaning we make all our own salami, pasta, gelato) and playful Americana (meaning we take American classics and update them with a twist). we grow up to 30% of our own produce and have our own chickens for the eggs for our pasta. otherwise, we support local, sustainable and diverse agriculture and economy in our purchasing choices. We make our own bacon and salami from heritage pork that is antibiotic and hormone free and free range. You can order our bacon from our website www.zazurestaurant.com. Come stroll through our chef's garden! We have PIZZA & PINOT nights Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. For breakfast or lunch any day, try our sister restaurant, BOVOLO, up in Healdsburg, on the square inside Copperfield's books.

We both loved our pizza (bacon, carmelized onions & apples - what an awesome combination. It was probably the bacon that really "made it," as I understand the owners cure their own bacon and specialize in pork products. This was a daily special item, so not sure it's available always. I also recommend the salad with peaches & proscuitto.

A true gem! Warm, casual and inviting. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and focused on excellent service. Bacon wrapped date is amazing!! Pork is a specialty and it will not disappoint. Halibut with corn succotash that included pancetta was outstanding. Vegetables are grown locally and prepared with new twists. Prosciutto served with marinated and chilled baby tomatoes is a simple presentation but the flavor blend popped. mix of flavors will delight. Made on premise gelato and sorbet was perfect finish. Nothing negative...this place rocks!

We went to Zazu to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had our daughter and 8 month old granddaughter with us. Everything was excellent! We loved the food and had great service. I also had the best dessert of my life - some type of almond cake with gelato (I think) and a to-die-for caramel sauce with peaches on the side. We all agreed it was a great experience and that we will go back again.

Brought friends from San Diego for a little taste of one of Sonoma County's best.Have to say, evening started off rocky once we walked in the door, the hostess could not find our reservation & said they were full. When I showed her my confirmation on my phone, she stepped it up a bit. She seated us at a table for 2 (there were 3 of us), in the walk way which meant as people walked by one of us would occasionally be bumped by a passer by.Now for the food - things turned around quickly. We shared numerous starters, a pizza & a main. It was the perfect amount of food & everything was execellent. Had room for desert & we split the better butter - awesome! Over all, great food, service is below par & comes with attitude.

The food was great, but it was very very noisy. The restaurant is small and there were 2 groups seated next to each other in the main area- we could hear the man 2 tables down shouting and but had a hard time hearing each other across a small table. There are no noise remediation steps in sight - (ceiling or wall panels) and my ears were ringing by the time we left. Fun restaurant but not the place if you are looking for a conversational dinner.

They are farm-to-table and it shows! All the food was fresh and delicious! I may plan another trip soon just to eat here again! Don't miss this one!

3rd time there over years. Some food fabulous, some no so good. Halibut overcooked slightly, Swiss Chard had weird hot peppers on it, horrible! Liberty Duck tostadas, MARVELOUS! And huge. I'm a local farm foodie and am impressed by the sourcing of their foods. We didn't even bother with desert. Too many other restaurants to mess with spotty food.

It has been several days and several conversations about Zazu since our visit there. We still cannot decide on what was the best part...the food, the service, or the ambiance. Every aspect was noteworthy! We tried many different plates, from starters, to small plates, through entrees. Each bite was an experience to savor and to share. They have got something very special there. We simply cannot wait to go back.

I ate at Zazu for the first time last weekend. We really enjoyed it andMost of the food was really good. We shared several appetizers and all thought they were delicious. They included the bacon-wrapped dates, the pork bun and a trio of farm-grown veggies and hummus. All were delicious. However, I was a bit disappointed with the entrees. Two of those I tasted were just mediocre. The halibut was a bit dry and the asparagus and pasta was not to my taste. The sauce was basically browned butter & I didn't like it. Despite these comments, I would definitely go back again. It has a very relaxed, comfortable ambience and the staff were great. I'd give it a second go!

Sitting outside was a true wine country experience. With a vineyard beside us and great wait staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and the food was amazing! Though not a 'fancy' restaurant (sans table clothes and air conditionaing) this a wonderful farm to table restaurant provides fresh seasonal dishes for that would satisfy the omnivore and the vegetarian...modest cocktail and small local and highend wine list that is satisfying. Also please leave room for dessert!

Zazu has an interesting menu and setting but the food is a bit disappointing. We may have been there on an off night but given the amazing dining options in the area, I would be hard-pressed to recommend Zazu above other options. My pizza was tasty but the crust lacked good texture and was under cooked. My husband's halibut on succotash unremarkable at almost $30. I love the farm to table business model and the in-house prepared bacon bits on my pizza were the highlight of our food experience. Locals will likely have a better chance to experience "good nights" at this dining spot but for visitors with little time to experiment I'd recommend Fresh or Willis's for a consistently good meal.

We had the Farm Dinner, a 3 course meal for $39. The avocado fries were amazing with the chili lime aioli with delicious watercress. The ribs with spring onion mashed potatoes were to die for. To top it all off was cherry jubilee with real vanilla bean gelato and buttermilk crepes. All I can say is it was delicious.

Comfortable but special, comfort food with an edge; their specialty is pork, so don't miss having some pig. We had bacon-wrapped dates, all of our party of seven, and everyone loved them. It was Pizza and Pinot night, and my brother and I split a dry Monterey jack Caesar salad and a bacon/goat cheese/peach pizza. I think we chose the best meal, but everyone else thought that their own was best, and isn't that a sign of a wonderful restaurant? We all shared bites and everything was good. Terrific service, not too loud, large portions, and all the vegetables were fabulous-the benefit of owning a farm. If I have a minor quibble, it's that I'd like a larger portion of vegetables and occasionally I found the food a little salty.

Located about three miles west of downtown Santa Rosa, this spot is said to showcase local food. It is a bit funky, noisy in the interior of the dining room, and generally informal for a place that serves good food. Service was friendly but slow during the Saturday dinner rush, and got better as the place thinned out. An amusing place to go with friends. Has some outdoor dining, but is right next to a major roadway.

Our 2nd time at Zazu. Food is terrific and there seemed to be more fish and vegetarian options this time; desserts were not as varied as the other portions of the menu. The service was great; they even comped us on one of the dishes. Bust really, all things considered, I was incredibly disappointed with the meal. Food that expensive should not be boring or mediocre in any way. I don't think I will be going back.

We think the word is already out on Zazu. The word is 'Love Local'! Many diners crane their necks to see the "Mains" at the next table! The menu is new and unique each night, dedicated to the local farm freshness. Over-the-top meats are prepared with love and finesse. The food, Starters, Sides, Mains, and Desserts are stupendous, delicious, and rival the finest 5 Stars, but are plated in a "comfort food" style. Staff are caring, friendly, and take time for conversation and questions. Kitchen is like home! And owner/chef Duskie Estes works every night with few exceptions. If it wasn't a great distance away, we're sure Joel Rubuchon and Thomas Keller would pop in after work for their late suppers! Like our waitress Kat says: "Love You Back"
