We were greeted by the waitstaff that was happy to see us. The staff treats you really well. You can tell they love what they do.
The food was really good. Our entrees came out a little faster than I anticipated. We were enjoying drinks to begin with. We skipped the appetizers. The fettucine with prawns was also excellent with bits of fresh asparagus. The food was good, but maybe a little expensive for what you get. Expect to spend $50+ on a dinner for two without drinks.
What makes it great though is the ambiance and staff. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a romantic dinner for two.

Food was flavourful but a little off for the entree. Onion soup and chicken liver pate served on toasts were delicious. Duck leg was not crispy (may be the sauce was poured directly on it) and pork chop had some dry spots (~20%). Both entrees were a bit oily for me but it could be just the style.
Wine list was OK and many wine offered in carafe (about 400-500ml) and prices were in reasonable city range. My wife and I shred the appetizer platter, which came with a very good chicken pate/mousse on toast points--classic French and a tad too moore'ish!
I had the crispy duck leg with warm fingerling potato salad and my wife had the fish soup. Both were excellent, but again quite rich. The duck's potato salad had bacon, which added to the flavour and the richness, but excellent regardless. Beware--portions are NOT fussy French 'nouvelle cuisine'--you will leave satisfied.
Prices are reasonable for the quality.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we immediately felt welcome and well taken care of. We sat on the patio, which was charmingly lit up, with flowers covering the fences. What really stood out, however, was the food. The charcuterie was great, especially the pate. We had the steelhead and the chicken. Both excellent. The meals were balanced and flavorful, and though they were healthy and not especially heavy, we were very well fed. The food is good, the service is good, it's a tiny, very cozy place, not too noisy. This week the French onion soup was very rich and good, the cheese extremely thick. I got the grilled mascarpone polenta and spinach with mushrooms in tomato sauce, really delicious. The iced tea was delicately flavored and so good. This restaurant pays attention to the little details. I moved out of CA years ago, but still come back when I visit. I grew up in this hood + have had dozens of meals here: lunch with my mother, awful dates, epic brunches, and just recently a romantic birthday dinner with the love of my life. We mentioned it was my birthday and dessert was complimentary. The 3 course prix fix meal for $25 is the best deal in town. Mondays you can dine with your pooch on the patio. Tuesdays they wave corkage fees. I am disappointed that this does not include Tuesday lunch, but well, nothing is perfect! Very nice wine selection.
