  • "Great and exotic selection of small plate dining. Latest seatings in Verizon Center/Penn Quarter area following concerts and sporting events. Restaurant week menu offers great variety for $35. Spacious attractive space."

  • "Best Greek restaurant I have ever been to. Spanakopita was amazing, with their own phyllo dough!!! Deserts were also fab, and you can choose a mini, so you can try 2!!! A must stop if you are in DC!!!"

  • "Went there to take my husband, who is vegetarian, but found plenty of great food for myself and my friend, who are not vegetarians. Really enjoyed the small plates of delicious food."

  • "I went to Zaytinya for the restaurant week. Variety selections under four courses, our server was kind and friendly, and the food was great. I especially loved the brussels sprouts. Ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail, and the bill was ~$100. Highly recommended for the restaurant week."

  • "GREAT find! Completely smitten with Zaytinya! Very impressed! A+"

  • "It was my first time here, and we ordered off the restaurant week menu. I liked the small plates concept a lot. The ginger beer was delicious! I especially liked the salmon on top of the black hummus. I gave three stars because more than 2 plates were not that great. The beef tartare could have been more flavorful. It was the good with the radish. The brussels sprouts was over sauced with the garlic yogurt. The keftedes was not good at all. The halloumi was great but not so much the watermelon pieces on the sides. The sirloin steak tasted like charcoal. Can't say I was a fan of either Greek Yogurt & Apricots or Turkish Delight."

  • "We sat for over five minutes as servers walked back & forth without being greeter or at least served water. My 9 month pregnant wife specifically asked about bread after being served an oil dish & was told it would be out any moment. It was not brought to our table until after we had already finished our first course. We also asked that the courses be fired up individually when we were nearly done with the previous but time & time again they would bring the following courses while we were barely finished with half of the previous course. It did not matter how many times we reminded the servers of our wanting to take our time with our meal & it was not like the restaurant was anywhere near full."

  • "We needed to move our reservation from 7:30 to 9:30. They were able to accomidate us even though it was restaurant week. Food came out quickly but not too quick. Service was excellent. Would go back anytime."

  • "Best food I had in DC. The atmosphere was very busy and noisy so it becomes difficult to hear the wait staff........but at the end it is all well worth it."

  • "Visited during restaurant week. Excellent variety of dishes on the special menu. All were very good. Shrimp and lamb dishes and yogurt dessert were standouts."

  • "Our waiter was one fo the best I've seen. Friendly yet professional."

  • "I took my gf here for her birthday on a Saturday night. We enjoyed the outdoor seating (the weather was great) and were especially pleased with the overall atmosphere and service. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, our dishes were cleared in a timely manner, and the food was very tasty. My personal favorites were the KIBBEH NAYEH (beef tartare) and the GARIDES ME ANITHO (sauteed shrimp). I would recommend this place to anyone."

  • "Zaytinya is one of my favorite DC restaurants so I was leery of going during Restaurant Week. I was not disappointed! The amount of food provided during Restaurant Week is even more than I would normally eat there, so it's a great value. My one complaint is that it took almost 20 minutes from the time we gave the waiter our credit cards until they were returned to us, which raised some anxiety among the group. There was no explanation or apology for the delay, which left us pretty concerned. Nevertheless, always a fan of the food here!"

  • "I cannot seem to stay away. Consistently yummy food. Drinks are in a class by them selves. Friendly to all clients. Genuinely embarrasses all ethnic groups- very refreshing. Love you. Don't change anything."

  • "I was so excited to try out Zaytinya for the first time for DC restaurant week. I meet up with a friend for lunch and even though I was running late because Metro stop closures, they accommodated us so easily. The ambience is great and the food was excellent!"

  • "Lunch during restaurant week offered a good selection of some of Zatinya's best dishes. The weather permitted us to dine outside where the noise level was much more agreeable and the service was excellent. The chocolate desert was superb and the sorbet crisp and refreshing. We will definitely come again."

  • "A few friends and I booked a reservation for Zaytinya brunch as soon as Restaurant Week was announced. I had been there for dinner before, but I had never tried their brunch options. Everything we ordered came promptly and tasted delicious. Our servers were attentive and happy to fulfill our requests (more bred, a take-home bag) in a timely manner. All in all, it was a great experience."

  • "Beautiful airy space. Tried restaurant week menu; loved the price point. Tasty, but food very slow to come out. It felt sort of mass-produced. Brussel sprouts were touted as must-try so we tried it. Delicious, but I felt it was over-sauced. The truth is brussel sprouts always taste good with just plain salt/pepper when roasted properly (really easy to do). Adana kebab was better than the lamb meatballs (kind of dense and dry, although tastefully spiced; 2 of the 4 were too salty). Enjoyed the radish salad over the steak tartare more. Tried both desserts; felt the ice cream was more successful than the yogurt (honey drizzled around the ice cream--divine). Yogurt seemed really small in portion size; it could have used a crunchy factor."

  • "Second time visiting Zaytinya during restaurant week, but this time for lunch. Came as a very large group and everyone loved it! As usual, don't feel like you're getting a second-hand menu from Zaytinya. At $20 person, you get 4 choices, and by the end of it we were all STUFFED. The food was absolutely delicious and so much fun. Definitely recommend!"

  • "The food was excellent, and tapas are fun. But it is good for a special occasion because it is pricey."

  • "A friend and I visited Zaytinya for restaurant week and we loved it. A lot of times people shy away from tapas because they're afraid their appetite will not be sated but we were full after our four courses. Everything was well seasoned and we were pleasantly surprised by the food pairing. I would definitely go again!"

  • "I made a reservation for Friday afternoon, 1:30. My colleague and I arrived early and still had a rather long wait time. After finally being shown to our table, it took another 10 minutes before we were approached or greeted, and another 10 minutes before we were offered bread although we had already been giving olive oil which we were unable to use for the first 10 minutes it sat on our table. Our first courses came out 10-15 minutes apart. Leaving one of us with food, the other without . We have completely opposite dietary restrictions affecting out ability to share. The dishes came out so slowly and we were already late that we finally had to ask for our check and ask for our last two courses to be boxed. Disappointing."

  • "Enjoyed a great restaurant week late night dinner on the patio. The five course RW menu allowed us to choose many new dishes (10 between the 2 of us). Since most dishes are relatively small, it's a good opportunity to explore the menu beyond our mandatory plates of the wonderful brussels sprouts, falafel and hummus. We had a great server and wonderful weather for Aug. in DC. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant."

  • "I booked a table for 8 for restaurant week. Our group was treated extremely well and not rushed at all, which we appreciated for such a busy night. The food was amazing. The portion sixes were just right, and the flavors were on point. I can't really offer any real negative feedback on the food at all. My particular favorite was the grilled/charred chicken thighs. I Definitely have recommended this place to friends and will come back myself."

  • "Our family of four went for restaraunt week. Only my wife had eaten here before. One of my daughters has a food allergy related to nuts. We followed our servers recommendation and ordered all of the tapas on the restaraunts week menu except one and worked around any allergy issues. We ordered a French Cabernet Shiraz blend which was also well priced. With the exception of the kale dish, everyone found the tapas not only delicious but brilliantly flavored typically going in multiple directions. The wine was a great pairing for our meal. Our server gave us two extra deserts to try since our menu choices had nuts. Kudos to our server. He was a 10. Now for the "but"--I observed a server going directly from a bathroom stall to the kitchen."

  • "Overall, this is a great place that I return to frequently. My colleague and I ate outside this time where the noise level is fine - inside it is usually beyond energetic making conversation next to impossible. The service was good, but the waiter kept asking to take our order when we lingered over pre-dinner wine and appetizer and again somewhat obviously brought the bill immediately with the coffee afterwards, and then kept checking if we had put money on it when we lingered (not too long) over the coffee. Start to finish we were only at the table for 2 hours or less, early in the evening (6-8). Not the sign of good service, which detracts a bit from the overall experience."

  • "I've been to Zaytinya multiple times, and I've never been disappointed. Their food has always been excellent, including their mixed drinks, and their servers have always been attentive and friendly. Meals here consist of small plates of various kinds, sort of like mediterranean tapas. The most delicious thing on the menu is the MUSHROOM COUSCOUS. I would definitely recommend reservations if you plan on going here, since it's a well-known gem!"

  • "Zaytinya was our first dining destination during a 4 day stay in DC and was highly recommended by several different people. Both the food and the service exceeded all expectations. Every dish was incredible, and the servers were friendly, professional and very helpful. Look forward to trying them again on our next trip!"

  • " My husband and I were quite happy with our meal. While sitting and waiting for one course, a server went by with a fish dish and it made me worry that my salmon would not be fresh. Fish should not smell fishy. Sure enough, my salmon did not tast fresh. I grew up on the shore so I am used to fresh. The other food was delicious! Our server was amazing! He listened and checked to see that my food sensitivities were accomadated. The wine he suggested was delicious !"

  • "Had lunch recently & our service was very, very rushed. Our waitress, Russian, perhaps was not friendly at all. We also had to wave down the server several times to replenish our bread and oil."

  • "We ate here during restaurant week, and although the restaurant was very packed, the service was still amazing. The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back again!"

  • "We really enjoyed our first experience at Zaytinya. The food and the service were terrific; our waiter's recommendations were excellent and everyone enjoyed all the food. The hostess staff was able to accommodate us on the terrace on a beautiful cool evening, adding to the enjoyment."

  • "We went for Restaurant Week, but opted for the Chef's a Tasting Menu instead. A great value as it was so much food, each dish very tasty. Our waiter was superb. The dishes come out one after the other, so eat slowly if you want to dine."

  • "Zaytinya is a great find in the upper DC area. The food is served in small portions, so expect 2-3 plates per person. This really promotes the whole idea of "sharing the meal", which I think is a great idea when dining out. Most of the review sites I searched to find this restaurant said it was relatively cheap, around $10 per plate. However, we weren't expecting the plate size to be so small! Nevertheless, the food was absolutely exquisite."

  • "This was my first visit to Zaytinya. I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere and service was great. The food was outstanding. The fusion of flavors waltzed across my tongue in a seductive manner. I will definitely return to try other dishes."
