Diner Reviews
  • "Two of us had pasta with scallops & truffle oil, the other two had the pistachio crusted halibut - both were excellent; the roasted red pepper soup was outstanding. The vanilla gelato with expresso was a fabulous way to end the meal. We will be back...."

  • "A delightful evening. The food was outstanding , even the dish that I got but didn't order. It was so good that I refused to complain. Also, the best Tanqueray martini outside of New York City. A little pricey but then again you get what you pay for."

  • "Dinner was wonderful, service was great, the food was amazing...overall very good restaurant, quaint and extraordinary at the same time."

  • "Not a bummer on the menu but the pasta dishes-wow. Wonderful bread, minestrone is the best. Combine with great service from knowledgeable pros and a user friendly but sophisticated wine list -- an event to savor."

  • "The food was truly amazing. The only reason this restaurant wasn't absolute perfection was the snobby attitude from the waitstaff. I totally get they are going for a more upscale dining experience, but they just seemed to take it easy too seriously. The atmosphere was great for couples, but I did see a few families dining in as well."

  • "We really like this place and wish we lived downtown so we could eat there more often The osso bucco is amazing. My wife had the halibut which was perfectly cooked and had a nice crust. I'm not usually a panna cotta fan, but we loved the Zarletti version -it was a lot smoother and less firmly gelatinous. The place was packed on a Wednesday night so I recommend reservations."

  • "Fabulous from beginning to end! Lucky to have this great place in our town!"

  • "Had the lamb sandwich - delicious. Wife had crab/shrimp fetuccini - also delicious. Tiramisu was big - we split it. Wait staff was wonderful. Only good things to say about this place. We came at 11:30, before the lunch crowd."

  • "We visit Zarletti's about a 6 times a year.. Every time we do the service is great, the food is great.. Everything is always consistent.. I would highly recommend Zarletti's."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant for Rack of Lamb. Charred and so tasty. The rest of our diners loved their entrees as well. The service was also great, as our server Therese was most personable and friendly. Curt also stopped by to check on how everything was. We enjoyed chatting with him."

  • "We went to Zarletti to celebrate hubbie's birthday. He is a huge fan of ossobuco, so a Google search to find it in Milwaukee provided Zarletti's as first choice. We were not disappointed! Crostini Misti was wonderful too, especially the motadella pate selection. Our only complaint would be that we were seated very near to the door. It was a windy evening and every time the door opened we were treated to a frigid gust of air."

  • "Zarletti's is always great. We have been there many times and the food is always great. There was a large group the night we were there so I think it slowed our waiter down but it was worth the wait. The four cheese ravioli is my favorite. We each order something different to share so we get to try a variety because we love it all."

  • "This was my fourth visit to this restaurant in the past year or so. It is consistently excellent."

  • "Zarletti is one of our favorite Milwaukee restaurants. We love that it's small in size, yet has a varied menu. The wine list is excellent and includes many Italian gems. We've never had a bad meal here. Menu is primarily Northern Italian, so you won't find spaghetti and meatballs or traditional red sauce entrees. But go ahead and try something different. You won't be disappointed."

  • "The food at Zarletti's was fantastic. Our drinks and wine were too. David, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is very small and cozy. We arrived early and there was no room at the bar. The host was great and set a table for us right away. Unfortunately it was a cold night and sitting near the door we got a cold blast every time the door opened. There must have been a heater to counteract the cold because it didn't stay cold long. Next time we will ask for a table toward the back."

  • "Close to theater, parking ramps close by, valet parking, excellent food, excellent service."

  • "It's all about the food here with solid service levels. My only very very minor issue is it's a small space and is crowded when full but to some extent that adds to the intimate Italian atmosphere. The menu is fantastic, the specials are always great and the wine list is very good if you know Italian wine. One of our favorite restaurants in the greater Milwaukee area!"

  • "The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is great. This is a great place to take someone special. Save room for desserts, they are amazing!"

  • "Appetizers and main course really hit the spot on a cold Saturday night. Salmon is always high on my list and Zarletti's didn't disappoint."

  • "Zarletti continues to put out great Italian food and provide excellent service. The osso bucco and the veal picatta were outstanding."

  • "Our early dinner at Zarletti's was terrific. We all enjoyed the food, including the boar pasta special, shrimp pasta and halibut. Speaking of halibut, I really appreciated the kitchen's flexibility...I wanted mine grilled simply, without the pistachio crust. No problem. I asked for a side of broccoli rabe instead of mashed potatoes. No problem. The atmosphere, in spite of the early hour, was lively, and the restaurant filled up quickly. We chatted with the manager/owner? on the way out and can't wait for their sister restaurant to open up in Mequon, where the area is in serious need of fine dining that isn't gimmicky or pretentious."

  • "This is the second time I have been to Zarletti - this time for valentine's day. I ordered the Duck Ragu with House made pasta and it was phenomenal. Our shrimp and bruschetta appetizers were great and the wine suggestion by our waitress was on point. My girlfriend and I come to Milwaukee from Chicago just to eat here and stay at the Iron Horse. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The food at Zarletti was to die for. Each course was better than the next. The service we had was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. As a younger couple, we did not feel like novices when approaching the meals, drinks, etc. It was a very nice experience and I would definitely go back again."

  • "Entrees were good, appetizer (crab stuffed calamari was a 2 out of 10) was poor and fishy instead of tasting like crab. Server quoted and pushed us the special in which we gladly agreed to; it sounded very appealing and at the quoted price of $28 a plate.....I went for it. When the bill came, the special price was $36.95. We very nicely asked why there was a difference and the answer was..."Oops, I haven't worked here in a while, they must have raised the price." The server left after that claim and did not even act as if there was a problem. We quietly paid the bill and left the bare minimum 15%, which we shouldn't have. I will likely not be back due to the lack of attention to detail and customer service."

  • "Not an everyday sort of place. But for special moments in life, it perfect. It can be expensive if you do a three or four course meal but can also be reasonable for a simple drink and dinner. Waitstaff was knowledgeable and attentive. My only give back to the night was three words "high top tables". I wish we would of been give an option. My wife is 5' tall and visibly pregnant. The high top table wasn't a 100% good choice for us but we dealt with it and had a wonderful dinner. Thank you!! I highly recommend it."

  • "Terrific experience! Allessandro was our waiter. Great guy. Very knowledgeable re: menu, wine, & Zarletti's new Mequon restaurant. Enjoyed lightly dressed Insalata Pera & Caprese salads, followed by Italian Sausage Ravioli, Stuffed Pork Chops, & Pasta Salsiccia, with a little spicey kick to it. Desserts included the Torta di Cioccolata and Gelato, washed down with several coffees and a Cappucicino. A nice white wine accompanied our dinner and everyone walked away more than satisified. Nice, intimately close ambience, with snow filled street scenes through the windows, made for a comfortable and deliciously / delightful business dinner (and located just a half block from the Pfister for the convenience of our out of town guest)."

  • "Our schedule put us 15 minutes late for our reservation, but the staff was very kind and gracious, seating us immediately. Everything from the Italian Super Tuscan wine to the antipasti, warm bread, our entrees, not to mention the red velvet cake for dessert were amazing. We will be definitely be coming back soon! A great Italian restaurant!!"

  • "This is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee and one that is commonly overlooked when people are trying to think of a restaurant that has both amazing food and a great ambiance. We go to Zarletti quite often and ALWAYS have beautifully prepared, fresh cuisine. Such a great place in our own backyard."

  • "I used the Journal Sentinel's list of the 30 most recommended restaurants in Milwaukee, and chose Zarletti based on location (near the PAC) and availability, and was very pleased with my selection. We will definitely go back, and bring friends with us."

  • "I wasn't happy that my online reservation placed us right at the front door near the windows. It was cold to sit there to begin with and I was even more upset at the fact that I couldn't get the online reservation seating choice function to work. To sum it up my seat was chilly, my cappacinno and coffe both were mildly warm. My soup was luke warm and my food was cold at the exterior but hot at the center. Very disappointing for the price!"

  • "I'm a frequent diner for several reasons: great downtown location, food is consistently delicious and fresh, ambiance is unpretentious and dishes are reasonably priced. I had the evening special - pan sautéed veal chop topped with bits of garganzola - perfectly cooked and flavorful. The peas and mushroom risotto and a bottle of chianti made for a very satisfying dinner! Service was attentive."

  • "Dinner for two - very good experience. Two Appetizers: Olives and Crab-stuffed calamari. The calamari was the only less than perfect part of our meal. The olives were perfect. Two cups of soup - tomato and basil and minestrone. Excellent. Veal and the Pork Chops for entrees. The pork chop was exceptional. Both entrees came with Gorgonzola mashed potatoes... Should've ordered the seasonal veggies instead. Service was very attentive and the meal was very well paced."
