Zapatista – South LoopMother's Day 2013My husband took me here for lunch on mother's day, it was more crowded than usual for that time of day (2 pm) but we were still seated quickly. Their chips & salsa are awesome, chips are alwasy crispy and not greasy. The guacamole is one of the best I've tasted and made to order. I had the tampiquena with rice and beans which was good and out order was out to our table quickly. The waiter was totally accommodating to our need to talk more than eat, which we did. The waiter recommended the house margaritas which were wonderful. My two guests, being from the west coast, had lots of experience with Mexican dining, as have I. We were very impressed with the variety of regional dishes on both the regular & gluten-free menus. We started with the Guacamola with chips and jicama sticks which was gone almost instantly. Though my ceviche was just ok, the Espinacas y Hongos Quesadillas were a wonderful vegetarian selection. We all left highly satisfied with every aspect of our dining experience. I had the bigote margarita and it was refreshing and smooth. The waiter was very attentive and always check in on us and the food came out quickly.
