"We had an awful experience with service on Easter. The restaurant was not crowded at all, but we seemed to get attention like it was a packed house. We sat for 15 minutes before I finally asked for someone to take our drink order. The manager was so nice & offered to pay our bill because we waited so long. We told him it wasn't necessary, but he did buy a round of drinks. After that, our experience just tanked. I thought the initial issue would get us better service, but we were only serviced when we specifically called the server over to take our order. The food was ok, but not worth all the issues. I really wish we would have taken the manager up on the offer to pay our bill! BAD BAD BAD."

"I have been to the one in the South Loop and think that one is much better. The fajitas are still the same great recipe, but this location kept the tails on the shrimp, which made it difficult to eat. This made my experience very messy. The tortillas were a little crisp on the edges, but okay. When my side of lettuce arrived, it was old and brown, but the waiter was very nice and brought me another plate, but still didn't want to eat much of it. Overall my review is really based on the fact that my experiences at the other location has been great and I hope it was just an off night."

"Zapatista exceeds expectations on the service level -- hosts, waitstaff and managers are highly attentive without being obvious -- the ideal in hospitality. Can't remember the last time my requests were met with such responsiveness. Something is very right there. Food's not so impressive, however. Guacamole, chile relleno and drinks were great. One of the tamales (appetizer) was so dry I literally struggled not to choke with each bite I attempted and finally sent it back. Staff was extremely accommodating about the problem though. The "all you can eat" fish taco "special" wasn't so special -- tilapia barely perceivable inside its over-breaded fried coating. Food more corporate than authentic, a shame it doesn't equal the excellent service"

Excellent guacamole, fish tacos, and veggie options. And their magargaritas are yummy and STRONG.

Also, if you can get a table that's tucked away, it's a great place for a date."

"My husband and I went on a saturday night. We arrived about 1/2 hr earlier than our reservation and yet was seated immediately. Our delightful server, Ariana I believe, recomended the tilapia n my husband LOVED it! I had the steak n it was also wonderful. We asked for her recomendation on dessert,since she obviously had great taste, and she suggested the fried banana with ice cream. To our surprise, it is accompanied by a spectacular presentation prepared by your table. when we were done, the guy at the valet had our vehicle right in front! I don't know how he does it but I was SO amazed and thankful since it was a cold winter night.It was just a perfect night and we will DEFINETLY visit again soon and reccomend it to friends."
