ZamaTrendy Sushi Bar in RittenhouseWith its "Celebrity chef" sushi rolls and modern decor, this trendy spot is great for a date or a night out. The food was excellent and meticulously prepared. The tables are a bit close together and it's not well suited for the noise (arched ceilings, the booths aren't closed off from each other), but overall its a great restaurant. As far as sushi goes, it was excellent albeit a bit on the pricier side for some items.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, as always!Always happy to go to Zama, great sushi every time5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect from the first secondZama is an experience that I will not soon forget. As a sushi lover from CA I've struggled to find incredible quality in Philadelphia, but Zama ranks at the top of my list. Out of everything we ordered, I highly recommend the tempura appetizer and the Bibou roll. Both complimented the meal and provided flavors that were unique and enjoyable. The ambiance and service were also too notch.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMZama appeals to diverse tastesI hosted a celebratory year end party for my three teaching assistants whose tastes differed enormously though all were serious foodies: a vegetarian, a carnivore who didn't do fish, and an omnivore on a serious weight reduction campaign. We ordered across the menu, small bites, vegetable side order (Brussels), a Branzizzle and the tofu baked at table. All were a revelation and delight for all. When they can afford to come on their own they will, and all will be trying to adapt dishes consumed, ESP the Brussels and tofu! Zama's convivial mood relaxed and opened us all. Thanks!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcllent, ninteresting rollsExcllent, ninteresting rolls and sashimi. Highly recommend the bronzizzle5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMReasonably-Priced SakeZama and Morimoto are our two favorite sushi spots in the city. Neither will disappoint. Zama always has interesting specials and a great sashimi platter. My only complaint is they keep marking up the bottle prices of their sake. They need a reasonably priced bottle on their sake list.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious as usual. I enjoyedDelicious as usual. I enjoyed the crudo, multiple rolls including the bronzizzle and the crispy black cod(yum!). I also love the lychee fizz cocktail while my fiancee had his usual sake. We'll be back of course:)4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for a 'girls dateWent here for a 'girls date night' with a friend & it was a good pick! Indulged in fun drinks - cucumber and pear-ginger saketinis are delish! - and in some of the night's specials. Food was great - especially loved the Hamachi Ponzu (yellowtail sashimi with soy pickled jalapeno and ponzu sauce) and tuna oro sushi. Everything was yummy and tasted really fresh. Would definitely recommend.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThough we have dined at ZamaThough we have dined at Zama many times, we continue to delight in, and respect, the same strengths: the imaginative menu, with its regular offerings, specials, and experiments; the exceptional quality of the ingredients and preparation; the presentation; and hardly least of all, the attentive and intelligent service. There is an offering for every palate and mood. The interior, with its bold Japanizing fish motif and natural materials, gives as much aesthetic pleasure as it relaxes. Any overall hubbub is usually just convivial sound if you're in a booth, useful for the hearing impaired. Kudos for constancy, imagination, and hospitality.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed a lovely meal atWe enjoyed a lovely meal at Zama this past weekend. The menu provided nice selections in various price points for both sushi as well as hot items from the kitchen. We tried the pork dumplings (pan seared) which were delicious, as well as the short ribs. Our sushi selections were delicious as well.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding. NotFood was outstanding. Not just another sushi restaurant. Will definitely make a regular appearance.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelectable but tiny portionsAll delicious but after sharing salmon skin salad, hamachi and tuna specials and a roll with tuna tartar on top I left very hungry!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Japanese in PhillyMorimoto's doesn't hold a candle to Zama. The hardest thing was trying to pick our favorite dish after we were done. Everything we had was great. The short ribs appetizer was my favorite. Each roll we had was better then the next. If you are looking for Japanese food of the highest quality come here. The food was worth every penny. And Craig our waiter was full of information and suggestions. Ask for Craig if you want a great experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi in PhillySince Haru closed, I have been looking for a great Sushi restaurant in Philly other than Morimoto and Zama certainly fits the bill. Its awesome! from the food right through to the service. I little on the pricey side although not as expensive as Morimoto and just as good.
I highly recommend one of the charity rolls inspired by great Philadelphia chefs. Please try the Vetri roll!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service and food.Very good service and food. I was surprised that in the reservation I wrote that it was my fiance's birthday and they brought out the dessert with candle without me having to remind them. Very nice touch. Thank you3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGluten Free FriendlyOur server was amazing I wish I remembered his name, one of our group has a gluten alergy & he was so knowledgable and whatever he was unsure about he went back & asked the chef, he was very helpful in recommending dishes since it was the first time we were there.
