  • "Brought some friends here for the 1st time and they loved it. We all had the tayim, which is a multi-course feast and shared everything. The hummus was one of the best I've ever had and we loved the special bread "Laffa?" Although all of the dishes are small plates they keep bringing them out one after the other and even those with large appetites won't go hungry. We loved the spicy carrots, eggplant and beet salad; also the cauliflower; haloumi; and the filet caps were a big hit with our table. It was a great way to sample a lot of different dishes and perfect for sharing with friends. Thank you Zahav!"

  • "This isn't the first time I've been to Zahav and definitely won't be the last. Every time I think the chef presented the top of his game, I get surprised when he tops even what I thought is best with something completely new and better. The standard staples on the menu were still great like the humus and the halumi cheese dish (don't you dare remove that sweet delight! :) The new item I tried this time was the trumpet mushrooms - delicious! the perfect combination of chewy and soft, and soooooo flavorful! Nicely done!"

  • "I was anxious to eat here as it is always ranked one of the "most booked" restaurants in Philadelphia. My sister and I were not disappointed. We decided to go for it and order the Mesibah because of course it was "party time". We enjoyed every dish down to the tender lamb shoulder and delicate dessert. Our server, Autumn, was very patient and had great suggestions. Zahav offers quintessential service. Everyone worked well as a team and we were never left wanting for a single thing. We will surely return."

  • "The food preparation, presentation and selection was excellent and our server, professsional and very helpful explaining the many dishes offered. The freshly made Laffa and Humus was the start of an exceptional meal, their salad selection, the Salatim, was very different, with a blending of veggies, spices, and flavors plus a great presentation as well. Left happy and well fed, we had ordered the Tayim, a tasting option, and it was an excellent value."

  • "Even though it was quite busy on the Sunday my girlfriend and I visited Zahav, we were seated within two minutes of checking-in with the hostess. We were seated in a section of the restaurant that is somewhat secluded from the main dining area, which was nice. The restaurant is painted in muted earth tones and didn't overdo it on the decoration. It was our first time dining here, so we went with recommendations from the waiter which didn't disappoint. The Turkish hummus was some of the best either of us ever had, while the the fried cauliflower left me mind-blown with the sauce the accompanied it. The spicy eggplant and chicken entrees were also quite good, though the chicken portion was a bit meager for two."

  • "Zahav exceeded all expectations. We chose the Tasting Menu (well priced and versatile) to celebrate a special birthday. The initial course, salad and hummus, was delicious and inventive. Beautiful, fresh vegetables prepared with obvious care accompanied the hummus and home made bread. The rest of the meal was terrific, as well, from the small plates of vegetables (mezze) to the main courses (perfectly seasoned branzino, chicken and lamb meatballs). Each dish had delicate flavors and accompanying sauce. The desserts--fabulous: chocolate mousse dotted with cherries and a dusting of nuts, a vanilla custard with rasberries and crushed pistachio. Very attentive service, warm, welcoming, informative. A lovely dinner; a very charming setting."

The food itself is out of this world - if you enjoy trying new foods, this is the place to be. We LOVED the cauliflower dish and the konafi was outstanding. My husband and I both had drinks that were very exciting and refreshing. We had visited years ago and remembered having a great experience our first time out - this time did not disappoint either. We are looking forward to bringing some friends along next time! Highly recommend Zahav if you want a truly unique, fun and delicious dining experience!"

The (much) younger clientele must be attracted. After trying the prix fixe on our first visit we opted for the somewhat larger portions a la carte and were pleased. The hummus is to die for."

  • "I have heard a lot of good things about Zahav from my Middle-Eastern friends over these years. But my personal experience was not very satisfying. I guess that happens when you have higher expectations. The small plates were extremely small (the smallest in Philly) but flavorful. While the grilled items were a little larger in portions (may be the size of a "small plate" at a standard Philly restaurant) but strikingly unremarkable. The drinks and the cocktails were the only respite in the otherwise lackluster dining experience."

We came through the back door because we didn't know the neighborhood well, and the staff courteously directed us to the host stand. We were seated right on time per our 7:00 reservation. The restaurant itself is beautiful - high ceilings, unique light fixtures, gorgeous thick wooden tables, and middle-eastern touches throughout without being chintzy. Our server, Gabriel, was knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations that we did not regret! The food and drinks were both top rate, and the pacing of the meal was just right. I'd go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "Zahav is an experience that cannot be described by mere words. You have to go there and experience it for yourself. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there and the staged made it special. Our waiter took the time to festive each dish that we asked about and made suggestions if we couldn't decide. The food is out standing! We ordered the tasting menu and couldn't finish the meal. We would go again just for the hummus and salad. We are trying to come up with a special occasion so we can make our next reservation."

  • "How can it be that each time we go to Zahav it seems to get better. This time, with two friends, we had the tasting menu, one of the best values in town at $39 per person. With four of us, it means we got to taste almost everything on the menu.......and so while it becomes difficult to remember each and every dish, I can say, in all honesty, that every one of them was a unique experience. From the duck hearts to the cauliflower, this was a superb dinner. Deep thanks to Chef Solomanov and his wonderful staff!"

They went out of their way to accommodate all the multiple food allergies that I have, which I had advised about in advance. There was actually much more for me to eat than in many places I have been. I especially loved the eggplant, the bronzino, the short ribs and the vanilla custard."

  • "A friend in NY referred us to Zahav. I Went to Zahav with a friend to catch up and enjoy a great dinner. The server, George was excellent. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu which did not disappoint. We were able to sample the best of what the Chef recommended at a very reasonable price of $48 per person. There was no shortage of food. As I'm not familiar with Israeli wine, our server made a great recommendation of an Israeli Pinot Noir. The Sommelier came by to meet and speak with us about Israeli wines. The music was lively and made the ambience a little more fun. It was not too loud for us to relax and catch up. A perfect dining experience for us."
